Hello, I'm new to the Pokemon metagame, however I decided to try and build a first team from the start. This team would be mainly based off Mega-Gardevoir. Any help that could improve my team would be great and much appreciated.
So heres my team:
Gardevoir @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 16 HP / 8 Def / 232 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Will-O-Wisp
Mega Gardevoir is my main pokemon in this team. It has many usefulness’s as an extremely powerful Special Wallbreaker due to its unbelievably high SpA stat and its decent Speed stat is also very decent as well. Gardevoir also has a good typing making it immune to Dragon types which is very useful.
Bisharp @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 52 SpD / 204 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit
Bisharp uses his extremely high attack stat combined with STAB-moves Knock Off and Iron Head to effectively destroy opposing pokemon that are powerful against Gardevoir including the formidable Mega-Metagross. It also successfully uses Pursuit to trap opponents effectively.
Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power Fire
- Flash Cannon
- Thunderbolt
In this set, Magnezone utilizes its unbelievably powerful ability Magnet Pull to trap bulky Steel types which are super effective against Gardevoir’s attacks and so that Gardevoir doesn’t have to count on Focus Blast to beat them.
Klefki @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Spikes
- Thunder Wave
- Magnet Rise
- Play Rough
Klefki provides a good Prankster ThunderWave in order for Gardevoir to come in and sweep. It also can be used as a lead in order to utilize Spikes. Play rough is a simple move with neutral coverage and prevents Klefki being shut down due to Taunt.
Talonflame @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-Turn
- Tailwind
Talonflame’s extremely high speed makes up for the rest of the teams absurdly bad speed stats and Talonflame also provides Tailwind support for Gardevoir. Brave Bird and Flare Blitz both provide an OHKO or a 2HKO with STAB and U-Turn allows Talonflame to easily switch into another more suitable pokemon.
Excadrill @ Air Balloon
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance
Sand Rushing Excadrill easily takes down most of Gardevoir’s weaknesses and the rest of Gardevoir’s weaknesses is easily destroyed by the rest of the team leaving Gardevoir ready to sweep. Swords Dance + Earthquake or Iron Head would simply do mass damage against all its opponents and in a way, Sand Rush Excadrill could easily become a Fast Sweeper.
Once again, this is my first OU team and any criticism/tips to help my team would be much appreciated.
Thanks, DanBeta55.
