ORAS OU First OU Team

Hello, I'm new to the Pokemon metagame, however I decided to try and build a first team from the start. This team would be mainly based off Mega-Gardevoir. Any help that could improve my team would be great and much appreciated.
So heres my team:

gardevoir-mega.gif

Gardevoir @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 16 HP / 8 Def / 232 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Will-O-Wisp

Mega Gardevoir is my main pokemon in this team. It has many usefulness’s as an extremely powerful Special Wallbreaker due to its unbelievably high SpA stat and its decent Speed stat is also very decent as well. Gardevoir also has a good typing making it immune to Dragon types which is very useful.

bisharp.gif

Bisharp @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 52 SpD / 204 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit

Bisharp uses his extremely high attack stat combined with STAB-moves Knock Off and Iron Head to effectively destroy opposing pokemon that are powerful against Gardevoir including the formidable Mega-Metagross. It also successfully uses Pursuit to trap opponents effectively.

magnezone.gif

Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power Fire
- Flash Cannon
- Thunderbolt

In this set, Magnezone utilizes its unbelievably powerful ability Magnet Pull to trap bulky Steel types which are super effective against Gardevoir’s attacks and so that Gardevoir doesn’t have to count on Focus Blast to beat them.

klefki.gif

Klefki @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Spikes
- Thunder Wave
- Magnet Rise
- Play Rough

Klefki provides a good Prankster ThunderWave in order for Gardevoir to come in and sweep. It also can be used as a lead in order to utilize Spikes. Play rough is a simple move with neutral coverage and prevents Klefki being shut down due to Taunt.

talonflame.gif

Talonflame @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-Turn
- Tailwind

Talonflame’s extremely high speed makes up for the rest of the teams absurdly bad speed stats and Talonflame also provides Tailwind support for Gardevoir. Brave Bird and Flare Blitz both provide an OHKO or a 2HKO with STAB and U-Turn allows Talonflame to easily switch into another more suitable pokemon.

excadrill.gif

Excadrill @ Air Balloon
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance

Sand Rushing Excadrill easily takes down most of Gardevoir’s weaknesses and the rest of Gardevoir’s weaknesses is easily destroyed by the rest of the team leaving Gardevoir ready to sweep. Swords Dance + Earthquake or Iron Head would simply do mass damage against all its opponents and in a way, Sand Rush Excadrill could easily become a Fast Sweeper.

Once again, this is my first OU team and any criticism/tips to help my team would be much appreciated.

Thanks, DanBeta55.

Hi! Even tho i'm kinda new to teambuidling, i can immediatly notice a few things you should fix:
1) First, i noticed you have 4 Fire weaknesses (aka 4 Steel Types)
2) Sand Rush Exca may be good, but you don't have a Sand Setter so unless the enemy has one it's kinda useless
3) You may consider replacing Talonflame's Item
To resolve the first point, the best strategy you can use imo is replacing Klefki with Chomp.

Garchomp @ Lum Berry
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Outrage
- Stealth Rock
With Chomp not only you have another counter to Fire Types, but you also have a good Rock Setter to cripple them better. Swords Dance + Outrage/EQ is a pretty good combo, with a Lum Berry you also take care of every Status inflicted to Garchomp.

Onto the 2), replace Exca's Ability with Mold Breaker and put a Scarf on it. Scarfed Excadrill is a well known killer and hits A LOT hard. I may suggest replace Swords Dance tho, with a Choiced Item obviously it's not a good idea.

Excadrill @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
Rapid Spin allows you to get rid of hazards like Rocks (wich hurt Talonflame a lot and can be a problem) and its useful in a Tier like this. The rest is fine imo.

Do you really need Tailwind on your team? It's not a major problem but if yes then replace Talonflame's item with either Leftovers or Life Orb (first one to have recovery/second one for more power).

Talonflame @ Life Orb/Leftovers
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- U-Turn
- Roost
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
The general idea for Talon is good, U-Turn forms a nice core with Magnezone, but imo Roost is better because it allows you get some sort of Recovery since this one is not a Stall Talon and this way can be defeated easily.

Hope i helped!
