SV OU First Pokémon Team.

This is my first ever Pokemon team.

Gholdengo @ Leftovers
Ability: Good as Gold
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Make It Rain
- Shadow Ball
- Dazzling Gleam
- Substitute

Gholdengo, in my experience, can switch in and force out nearly every passive Pokémon because of its ability,. (Ex: Breloom (Most of the time), Toxapex, Orthworm, Amoonguss, etcetera.), so I added substitute so I can abuse this. Make it Rain is for a strong nuke and Shadow Ball is for a spammable STAB move. Dazzling Gleam is for coverage and leftovers are so substitute doesn't wear Gholdengo down too fast.

Great Tusk @ Assault Vest
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Atk / 128 Def
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Close Combat
- Rapid Spin

Great Tusk is because I needed a Rapid-Spinner that didn't get obliterated by Gholdengo. I ran these EVs so Meowscarada didn't OHKO it and so that it could hit it back with Close-Combat if it switched in. Knock Off is so I didn't get walled by air-balloon Gholdengo.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 HP / 48 SpA / 208 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Will-O-Wisp

Rotom-Wash acts as my pivot. Its role is so I can bring in my attackers like Gholdengo and Gardevoir safely. Will-O-Wisp is to cripple physical attackers, Hydro-Pump is for STAB, and Dark Pulse was just added on randomly.

Garganacl @ Leftovers
Ability: Purifying Salt
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Salt Cure
- Stealth Rock
- Recover

Garganacl acts as my Stealth-Rocker and insurance against physical attackers. Earthquake is to hit Dirge and Salt-Cure is because its good. Flying Tera is so that it can flip its weaknesses around.

Dragonite @ Choice Band
Ability: Multiscale
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake
- Ice Spinner
- Fire Spin

Dragonite is my cleaner and revenge-killer. It functions as insurance against sweepers. Fire spin is so it can hit it's checks on the switch and eliminate them by switching out to something that can beat it.

Gardevoir @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Trace
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Psyshock
- Mystical Fire
- Will-O-Wisp

Gardevoir is because I was making this team in class and just slapped it on. Moonblast is for STAB and Psyshock is for beating Clodsire. Will-O-Wisp is because I'm paranoid against set-up sweepers and Mystical Fire is for coverage.

Please rate my team.

Hey! Pretty solid for a first attempt! Can I ask why Choice Band on Dragonite? When it comes to sweeping, the standard Dragon Dance sets are far more effective; your set is pretty hard walled by common Dnite checks like Dondozo, and locking into Extremespeed isn't great with powerful ghosts like Dragapult and Gholdengo around. Dragonite's ability, Multiscale, is really useful for setting up.

If you are set on sticking with Choice Band, I'd suggest swapping Fire Spin for Fire Punch. I understand the appeal of Fire Spin for you, but any value you gain from trapping a threat for 1 turn seems particularly lost considering you yourself are now trapped into spamming Fire Spin, which is going to be doing like 3% to any relevant Dnite switch in. If your opponent figures out you are banded- which is fairly easy as soon as you click any attack- then they will have a much easier time taking advantage of Fire Spin. Fire Punch, meanwhile, gives you a great coverage option to hit Corviknight and Air Balloon Gholdengo.

If you are going to stick with Fire Spin, though, I'd sugget going Adamant or Jolly instead of Hasty. The extra damage gained from NOT running a -Sp.A nature is super negligible, and the reason you are running Fire Spin in the first place doesn't have much to deal with damage, anyway.

0 SpA Dragonite Fire Spin vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Dondozo: 18-21 (3.5 - 4.1%) -- guaranteed 7HKO after trapping damage
0- SpA Dragonite Fire Spin vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Dondozo: 16-19 (3.1 - 3.7%) -- possible 7HKO after trapping damage

I mean, maybe the guaranteed 7HKO is appealing? :pimp:

Also: Gardevoir is pretty neat but I feel like you might as well just run scarf Valiant? The 5bp less in Sp.A is well made up for with its better speed, offensive typing and overall variety. There are quite a few great Valiant sets other than scarf, too, like Booster Energy.

Best of luck with future teams!
