First RMT, built for Mismagius

I fool around quite a bit on Shoddy and dabble occasionally on WiFi, naturally, to no great outcome. Thus, a motive to post is born. This is my staple, brain-stew of a team that has worked rather well and failed rather miserably.

Presenting the team:

Jumpluff @ Leftovers
Ability: Chlorophyll
EV’s: HP 252 / Speed 252 / Defense 6
Nature: Jolly (+Speed, -Sp.Atk)
-Sleep Powder
-Leech Seed
-Substitute
-Encore

I’ve seen a couple Godpluffs sprouting up in various threads for good reason; they are ridiculous, underestimated, and strike stone-cold fear into every trainer’s soul. Speedy powder is capable of neutering almost all your typical set-up leads, for example Bronzong and standard Bulkydos. Encore is brilliant support coming into earthquakes and set-up moves, forces innumerable switches into oncoming seeds, spikes, and/or status, and also proves to be an effective but situational Garchomp counter. Godpluff struggles with leads faster then it, and is scared off by potential scarfers; the most frequent leads that require switches are Gengar, Weavile, and Azelf.

Skarmory @ Shed Shell
Ability: Keen Eye
EV’s: HP 252 / Attack 96 / Defense 156
Nature: Impish (+Defense, -Sp.Atk)
-Brave Bird
-Spikes
-Whirlwind
-Roost

Standard Skarmory song and dance, compliments my problems with Weavile leads while walling, spiking, and PHazing (Yes this is but another team with strong focus in spike damage, so kill me softly). Shed Shell is so Magnezone can’t have the satisfaction of raping two of my pokemon, and because Skarmory is the majority of my physical defense, and a large portion of my indirect offense.

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EV’s: HP 252 / Attack 128 / Sp.Def 128
Nature: Sassy (+Sp.Def, -Speed)
-Stealth Rock
-Gyro Ball
-Earthquake
-Explosion

Woah! Bronzong? In an OU team? How untraditional… This spot of the team is always hard pressed to fill effectively. In a perfect world, I’d like something with Stealth rocks that can help with my Gengar and Azelf weaknesses. Bronzong offers a Gengar counter, Stealth rocks, and has the added bonus of ‘Splosion for Gyarados and Magnezones who will inevitably trap me. Bronzong can’t handle Azelf. I’ve tried many things without success so if anybody has a great idea here let me know. Resttalk Snorlax running Crunch worked really well at the sacrifice of Bronzong’s resistances and stealth rocks, but I can't decide who contributes more to the synergy of the team.

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EV’s: HP 252 / Defense 120 / Sp.Def 136
Nature: Calm (+Sp.Def, -Attack)
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Toxic Spikes
-Rapid Spin

Not much to say about our standard friend here. Spin support and Toxic Spikes should be a golden oldie for everybody. But it works. Cruel also helps Bronzong to wall on the Special side and likes to switch into SpecsMence when I'm feeling that Jumpluff's Sleep Powder is due for a miss.

Mismagius @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EV’s: HP 116 / Speed 252 / Sp.Atk 140
Nature: Timid (+Speed, -Attack)
-Calm Mind
-Substitute
-Shadow Ball
-Hidden Power [Fighting]

Mismagius is the bread and butter of this team’s offensive front. She’s cohesive with Godpluff, using statuses, encores, and leech seeds to jumpstart sweeps. However, she is entirely capable of setting up on her own. Her resistances help defensively, she can one-on-one with Blissey, blah blah, hopefully everyone reads Smogon’s info pages so I don’t have to bother repeating it all here. Does her job well

Arcanine @ Choice Band
Ability: Flash Fire
EV’s: HP 4 / Attack 252 / Speed 252
Nature: Hasty (+Speed, -Defense)
-Flare Blitz
-Extremespeed
-Thunder Fang
-Overheat

This is another team slot in contention. The need for Flash Fire I feel is necessary, due in part that this team draws a lot of fire attacks. Choice Band Arcanine is respectable power-wise, but has pitiful type coverage. Choice Specs Arcanine has much better coverage and is rather unexpected, but then I feel as if my team lacks a physical-attacking presence. I’ve toyed with Heatran here, specifically metal sound and choice specs variations to compensate physical power for sheer special power. However Heatran is quite often to slow to be effective once switched in.

A team that can't offer much thats new, but is not something not altogether identical to common wall and stalls seen everywhere. I can sense the gaping weaknesses but that’s why I am here. Rate away, if you would please.

I use the same Mismagius almost all the time and I find that 44 HP / 220 Spd / 244 SAtk works, but then again, I haven't checked what yours outruns. My spread reaches 330, and iirc, you don't need much more than that.

Specs Arcanine should be considered more, seeing as physical presence isn't needed as much on a team with something that can take on Blissey like nothing at all. It beats Bronzong as well, another common special wall. You appear to have the means to take on most special walls on the team, so try it out. If it doesn't work well, scrap it and go back to the CB version.

You could have 236 Speed EVs + Timid to ourtun all non-scarf Chomps, which could be something on Mismagius. Put the remaining EVs into SAtk.

I like the team concept, and it looks like it can execute the concept well, however there are some issues.

I truly think Jumpluff should carry Lum Berry. You do not want to sleep a lead Bronzong, only to have it heal you then Hypnosis you back. Other than that it's fine (I truly hate Jumpluff btw)

Don't bother with Atk EVs on Skarm, just invest everything in Def.

Okay, replace Bronzong with a special defensive Heatran. Why? First, it counters Azelf siginificantly better than Bronzong ever could (loses to Flamethrower/Fire Blast) while does okay against Gengar (Focus Blast sometimes 3HKOs without LO). Furthermore, it can serve as a true special wall with its resistances and great SDef.

I've always favored great investment on Defense for Tentacruel to take Infernape CCs and random Heracross attacks but your spread is fine.

Your Mismagius spread is fine as well.

I'd just replace Arcanine with something else; in regards to OU it's decidedly mediocre amd doesn't do anything either defensively or offfensively that another couldn't do better.

Infernape with Fire Blast/Grass Knot/Nasty Plot/Close Combat could be useful as a late game sweeper, while Garchomp would provide a dominant physical sweeping presence to complement Mismagius's special attacking presence.

I believe Leftovers is fine for Jumpluff, at least in terms of lead Bronzongs. Nine times out of ten I can simply Sub up on the first turn while they Stealth Rock or Hypnosis and Encore the move next turn. This allows me to safely probe for annoying Lum Berries, get a free Seed for my Sub, and Sleep Powder is still available if Bronzong switches without status.

I'm currently testing all the mentioned spread variations for Mismagius, toying with Arcanine, and trying MixApe in place of Arcanine.

I'm really feeling the Heatran for Bronzong swap, so testing for him will hopefully happen soon, especially since his presence as a wall opens up room for a more effective sweeper. I'm rubbish with speads, if anybody has a Sp.Def Heatran spread they'd like to share.

Edits will be in soon, thanks for the help.

I find it ironic you have a Shed Shell on Skarmory, yet have NOTHING to switch in on a Thunderbolt. Anything that switches in pretty much gets over 50% of their life gone. At the very least, I'd like perhaps a Swampert over Bronzong. It at least stops the common Thunderbolt/HPIce thing going on (Ice for Garchomps) and it can help out with Tyranitar a little better than Bronzong imo.

With that team in hand, you might need a Wisher. So many things are without recovery of any form. Here we can try to do another switcheroo by replacing Tentacruel+Skarmory for Vaporeon+Forretress. Forretress can still get your Spikes/TS out and Rapid Spin, and Vaporeon just sends Wishes around the hour all about.

So after I just totally revamped the team, it looks like Jumpluff, Forretress, Swampert, Vaporeon, Mismagius, Arcanine. Hey, at least I kept the cool Pokes on it.

Also, with the addition of Wish and 2 solid fire resist, you might consider a switch back to Intimidate Arcanine, who could help out against Heracross and what not.
