XY OU First RMT: Crippling Offense (Peaked 1589)

Hi, this is JadeX92.
Erm, I don't really know how to start writing the post so I guess I'll just go right straight into the team building process.

ABSOL @ Absolite
lSCV7F0.png

The reason why I choose to start of with Absol as the centre of my team building is because I need a Mega who can take Knock Off. There's really a high increment in opponent running Knock off in their Pokemon and what's worst, the damage input for Knock Off is rather threatening too. Thus, I need a Pokemon who can absorb Knock Off and with Absol's Justified. It can up it's attack to a dangerous level. Magic Bounce is also one good ability which deflects status + rocks/spikes/seed.

252 Atk 252 Speed 4 HP
Play Rough
Sucker Punch
Superpower
Knock Off

Knock Off is Absol's standard attack. Mega Absol is fast enough so I don't really use Sucker Punch that efficiently as I initially thought I would. Play Rough and SuperPower are there just for Coverage. I used to run a Naive natured Absol with Fire Blast to handle mainly steels, Thunder Wave to cripple or Sword Dance to boost its offense. Ended up deciding to change the last moveslot to Superpower to handle Steel. (Since I have Heatran for Fire and Whimiscott for Cripple)

Whimsicott @ Leftover

Whimsicott was chosen to complement Absol's Weakness, To combat Fighting moves. Whimsicott may be a low-tier Pokemon but it was one of my MVP in the team! First, it acts as a shield towards Lati@s Draco Meteor. Secondly, it's a great switch in against Rotom-Wash and many popular Hydro Pumps in the metagame. In short, my defense for the team.

Impish
Prankster

252 HP 252 Def 4 Sp.Def

Encore
Leech Seed
Stun Spore
Knock Off

With Whimsicott around, it breaks set-up Pokemon. Crippling non-grass and electric Pokemon with Stun Spore. And spam Leech Seeds around. Knock Off is there just to cause more annoyance. It used to run Moonblast which I find it rather power-lackluster. Memento doesn't do well for my team as I don't run any set up Pokemon. Grass Whistle was good except for its low accuracy plus. Also, I don't feel good not running any offense move on a Pokemon.

Heatran @ Leftover

Since I already have Whimsicott, I won't be running Ferrothorn as my Rock Setter. Thus, Heatran is chosen to form a defensive duo core with Whimsicott as they are both able to take each other's weakness.

252 HP 252 Sp.def 4 Sp.Atk
Stealth Rock
Lava Plume
Roar
Wil-O-Wisp

Having the same defensive role as Whimsicott, Heatran's role was mainly to spread Wil-O-Wisp to further improve the defense of the team since Mega Absol is really frail. Lava Plume is there for STAB and occasionally lucky burnt on the opponent's Pokemon. Heatran used to run protect which works extremely well til I met Suicune who managed to set up on my Heatran without me being able to do anything. Thus decides to run Roar instead. Still finds Protect better on my Heatran somehow :/

Landorus-T @ Choice Scarf
645-s.png

I used to run a Mega Manetric Team with Landorus for Duo Intimidate with a Ferrothorn Wall. Was really tempted to use Landorus as a rock setter, but I really dislike stall battle and I need a Pokemon to be able to pivot well. Probably a fast bulky U-turn or Volt switcher. Landorus-T was thus chosen in place of Scarf Rotom due to intimidate and more offensive presence + I'm thinking of running Keldeo as my Wall Breaker.

Super Power
U-Turn
Earthquake
Stone Edge

Not many people would expect a Scarf Landorus thus this set usually catches people off guard. With great speed and attack, Landorus is another one of my more useful Pokemon in battles. U-Turn just allow me to switch in the correct match up while damages the opponent. SuperPower is there for Air Balloon Excadrill. Stone Edge complete's the coverage with Earthquake which is its main stab.

Keldeo @ Choice Specs
647.png

Needless to say? Keldeo is there to bring up the offense of my team! As you can see from my previous teammates, they are not strong enough to break through walls. (No Setup from my team as well). This spot used to belong to Scarf Kyurem-B however Keldeo just does it better and cleaner. Choice Specs Hydro Pump is really scary once all its resistor are taken down. Usually a gg!

Scald
Hydro Pump
Icy Wind
Secret Sword

Secret Sword for coverage such as Chansey, Ferrothorn etc. Hydro Pump is its main stab for wall breaking capabilities. Icy wind for standard coverage as well as for lowering down the opponent's speed for my teammates to sweep. Lastly, Scald instead of Hp Flying or other HP for more accuracy.

Last but not least,

Talonflame Choice Band

Yup! This spot originally belongs to Greninja. But due to it being suspected, I'm trying out new teammates for this spot. Either Talonflame or Latios (Draco Meteor). Just felt that I need more physical support that's why Talonflame is here for the clean up.

Adamant
Gale Wing
31/31/31/xx/31/31
252 Atk 176 Speed 80 HP

Brave Bird
Flare Blitz
Steel Wing
U-Turn

EV designed for maximum bulk as well as enough speed to outrun some priorities. Able to survive 2 stealth rock as well. Brave bird as late game sweeper, Steel Wing for Fairies (Which is greninja's role).
U-Turn for scout and Flare Blitz for stab. Was thinking of running Overheat instead of Flare Blitz to deal with ferrothorn more efficiently without losing too much of health.

Anyway, that's it about my team. It still have a long way to go so I'll need lots of help from everyone here. My team still doesnt do well with Talonflame :/ Please rate and suggestions (:
Here's one of my trial battle with Shofu.

nice team but what happens if absol get burned or if talonflame gets para. and what does happen if one team sets up sticky web, toxic spikes and spikes. I recommend replacing talonflame with a pokemon that is able to spin or to heal bell. but good luck with your team.
One way to replace Talonflame is Excadrill.

Tell me if u want Choice Band, Scarf, or Air Balloon. There are multiple sets about it but if u need speed go for scarf.
Here is a set for it

Excadrill @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin

It just mostly depends on your choice. again good luck with your team

It's kinda hard for Absol to be burned via Magic Guard, and even if Talonflame is paralysed it's Gale Wing Brave Bird is still a threat (:
I'll take note of Excadrill! Thinking of running an Assault Vest Excadrill before but it would just made my team more vulnerable to Fighting and Hydro Pumps.

I would make a few changes. First, drop Superpower and add Swords Dance in it's place. Play Rough has near perfect synergy with the Dark STABs so Superpower is not needed as much.

Next, I would replace Whimscott with Chesnaught. It's a much sturdier alternative that is more reliable in taking hits. Another solid option is Amoongus, which is more status based than Chesnaught is, but still a good option.

I think changing from a Choice Band set to a Swords Dance would benefit your team. It gives you more overall sweeping potential, and the power of the CB set underwhelms in practice.

As far as hazard removal goes, I would consider working a Latios or Latias into the fold. They would check a decent number of threats and would not blow up your team synergy. I would add them over a Grass type if you feel the need. Sets below.

Absol @ Absolite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Play Rough

Chesnaught @ Leftovers
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Spiky Shield
- Leech Seed
- Drain Punch
- Spikes

Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Clear Smog
- Foul Play

Talonflame @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Roost

Latios @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Earthquake
- Defog

Landorus is more of an Offensive Pivot. U-Turn, or fast-quake once I removed all levitators and flying. Anot nope, Whimiscott is too valueble to be removed for Chestanught. Prankster Encore and Stunspore is really useful

Set changed.

Absol to Tyranitar
Jolly @ Tyranite
Sand Stream
252 Speed 252 atk 4 HP
Ice Punch
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Stone Edge

Added up a set up pokemon with alot more bulk and offense.
Kinda miss magic bounce though
