A Weather-less OU RMT

Introduction:
Hello and welcome to my first RMT, Imposters! Personally from looking at the team it’s not the best I’ve made but the 17-3 record I had with it says otherwise and the 2/3 losses were to very obscure teams(one was baton pass and the other was monotype). While the team has worked for my and I have received great results it’s not flawless as there have been changes that I’ve already considered making. Below this is a list of the changes I’ve considered but haven’t done yet, feedback on this would be greatly appreciated!

The Team

Changes I’ve considered making:
  • Replacing something on Hydreigon with U-Turn, I’ve run into a lot of situations where U-Turn would have net me some easy KO’s
  • Putting Stealth Rocks on Ferrothorn, run into a lot of situations where SR would’ve been useful
  • Replacing Reuniclus with another good stallbreaker as it doesn’t do much
  • Replacing Leftovers on Reuniclus with Life Orb as that may make the difference and may turn Reuniclus into a useful pokemon
Team Building Process

Started out with Ditto because I thought it was an interesting underused pokemon, little did I know I would find one of my new favorites lurking in the NU tier.
132.png
579.png

When looking around at what stopped Ditto, the biggest problem I found was stall teams as they render Ditto useless, to take advantage of stall I added Calm Mind Reuniclus one of the best stall breakers in the metagame.
132.png
579.png
202.png

Also looking at what made Ditto worthless I realized that opposing scarfed Pokemon send Ditto into a speed tie, to serve as the ultimate counter to Ditto counters I added Wobbuffet. One of my favorite Pokemon, Wobbuffet is essential to this team's success as it not only counters scarfed pokemon but also set up sweepers and other offensive threats.

To take full advantage Wobbuffet’s ability to encore pokemon I wanted someone who could set up and sweep, Breloom was the best option because not only is it a potent SD sweeper but it’s a great revenge killer also with Mach Punch.

When looking at Ditto’s checks and counters I saw that he doesn’t enjoy opposing hazards, to counter this I decided to add Donphan seeing as it can pose as a spinner, a good physical wall and get set up Stealth Rocks and I never have success with Forretress and I simply hate it.

Looking at my team I saw that Psychic types like Celebi and the Eon-pokemon (Latios and Latias) would completely destroy this team. Additionally I saw that the team lacked a special attacker. To fix this, I decided to add one of my favorite pokemon in the game and a monster of a threat in the form of Hydreigon

After a couple battles with the team I saw that things with Donphan weren’t working out. I noticed that hazards really weren’t a problem at all and also that the teams biggest flaw was bulky water types, Hydration Vaporeon especially. I couldn’t switch Breloom in for fear of being burnt by scald nor could I set up with Reuniclus do to roar. To be the ultimate counter to Vaporeon and also serve a similar purpose to Donphan(who was useless anyway) I added Ferrothorn to my team. A great addition to the team as it can take hits, counter walls with Leech Seed, and set up hazards. Now that this is done, let’s jump into the team!

In-Depth Look

Ditto @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Imposter
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Sassy Nature
IVs: 2 Spd
- Transform
Meet Ditto, the most underrated and potent revenge killer in the game and he’s the heart and soul of my team. Everything on the team is based on Ditto and it truly pays off. Ditto can not only come in on almost any regular offensive threat and force them out but can also use the enemies stat boost against them allowing me to sweep the other team. Outside of this, Ditto is pretty self explanatory. It only has one set and all of its moves are gained through the opponent’s moveset.

Funny_Reuniclus.jpg

Reuniclus @ Leftovers
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
As previously stated in the team’s building process, Reuniclus’ role on the team is a stall breaker. I needed a stall breaker to support Ditto because against a stall team, Dito is useless. To take advantage of stall, I added the standard Calm Mind Reuniclus set. A set so potent against stall that in the early stages of Black And White 1 it put Reuniclus under some consideration of being banned to the Uber tier. I put leftovers on Reuniclus to fully take advantage of stall but I’m finding the power lost from not having Life Orb to be crucial and because I have recover leftovers really aren’t worth that much. This may be the reason why I’ve been having little to no success with Reuniclus on the team and have considered replacing it. Feedback on whether or not to put Life Orb on over Leftovers would be greatly appreciated.

Wobbuffet @ Leftovers
Trait: Shadow Tag
EVs: 28 HP / 232 Def / 248 SDef
Bold Nature
- Counter
- Mirror Coat
- Encore
- Safeguard
Oh Wobbuffet, I truly can’t express my love for you and how important of a role you play on this team. Wobbuffet is imo hands down the best trapper in the game as it can take at-least one hit from nearly any pokemon in the game and retaliate back with an easy OHKO Counter or Mirror Coat. Additionally, if you try to set up on Wobbuffet hoping to net a OHKO of your own he can encore you into that move allowing me to switch it Breloom and set up for a sweep or go into Hydreigon and deal major damage. All of these great attributes aren’t even the main reason that Wobbuffet was added to the team, Wobbuffet’s true role on the team is to eliminate the opposing teams Scarfer. This is because the other way to stop Ditto is by using a choice scarfed pokemon of your own as Ditto, when transforming into another scarfed pokemon, becomes stuck in a speed tie and with a pitiful base 48 HP Ditto doesn’t want to take the risk of getting hit by an opposing threat. There’s a reason why I put Wobbuffet on nearly every team I use.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SDef
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Spikes
- Protect
Replacing Donphan incomes one of OU’s most common pokemon and for a good reason. Ferrothorn’s role on this team is to set up hazards and take hits. Leech seed is used for recovery for Ferrothorn in addition to my other pokemon and is very useful to force switches, protect is used to scout and regain HP and Spikes are my hazards that I use. I’ve considered changing the set to add Stealth Rocks as there’ve been many situations where Rocks would’ve been more beneficial than spikes so any changes on this set would be greatly appreciated and considered.

Breloom @ Life Orb
Trait: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Seed
- Mach Punch
- Spore
- Swords Dance
As stated before, Breloom’s role on the team is as a physical sweeper/attacker and another stallbreaker. Additionally, Breloom can also work as a revenge killer of its own with powerful Mach Punches reaching up to 90 base power, a real threat to watch out for when backed up by his monstrous attack stat and with this he can force switches allowing me to spore on the switch and begin setting up. I’ve had great success with Breloom on this team and it truly wrecks shop. The set is the standard SD set so there’s not much to say except for the fact that it and Wobbuffet work together flawlessly. Wobbuffet’s ability to encore pokemon into their moves especially boosting moves and hazards allows Breloom to come in and begin a sweep of its own using spore and then Sword Dance. After that, it’s all over. The only thing that can stop Breloom is a super physical wall or another pokemon with priority. Breloom is a key factor to the team’s success and has a major role on the team.

Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Rash Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Superpower
Hydreigon, one of my favorite pokemon in the whole game, plays a large role on the team as the main Special threat and to cover up the weakness the rest of the team has like Celebi. Hydreigon is a very potent attacker, Dark Pulse is on the set to deal with pokemon like Celebi who walls the team and also ghost types like Jellicent in addition to being a secondary stab. Fire Blast is great for hitting steel types and grass types and finally superpower is on the set to catch those off-guard who are usually expecting a Draco Meteor like Heatran or Tyranitar. I’ve found that the set could really use U-Turn somewhere on it to really help add the offensive synergy and also maybe changing the EVs around would be helpful to add a little more to ATK would be helpful as the damage done by superpower is occasionally a little underwhelming.

Hey. Interesting team you have. Have you noticed or had problems with Bug and Fire moves? Your whole team is basically demolished by them. I won't count Ditto, because it can be anything (so now just talking about 5 Pokemon), but you have 4 Bug weaknesses and 1 neutrality, and 2 Fire weaknesses and 2 neutrality. I would suggest adding something, anything, to help shore up these very common attacking type weaknesses. Seriously, pick anything from OU tier, replace one of your Bug weaknesses, and the team will almost certainly be better! Sorry I couldn't give more of a rate, but those weaknesses are just too glaring and have to be fixed before a proper rate can be done.

Your team does have some weaknesses, but to start off replace reuniclus with keldeo. Keldeo will help alleviate your problem with weaknesses to bug and fire types as it removes a bug weakness and adds a fire resist. I think you should use a scarf keldeo to help your team with speed, and use hydreigon as your stall breaker, it works better than reuniclus on this team for that anyways. I'll give you a set to use for keldeo.

Keldeo @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Secret Sword
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power [Bug]
- Icy Wind

I think you should test your team after making this change, then come back to me on what your team is weak to, then I think I'll be able to identify solutions to those issues.

@ Episode36
I've never had a problem with either attacking types, the only common bug attack in the tier is U-Turn, Ferrothorn can take these with ease even from Banded Scizor I'm really not effected too much. As for Fire attacks I've been fine against them also to the point were Sun teams are a breeze. Wobbuffet can easily come in and KO any Fire Type attacker in the tier or encore them into a move allowing me to get an easy switch into something to threaten it out or set up.

@Jolteon I'll give Keldeo a try over Reuniclus though to try and fix this except I'm going to use a CM set as I really don't need another scarfed pokemon and setup sweepers pair well with Wobbuffet.
