First RMT - Main Team 4.1

Hello, after being a member for months, I have decided to post an RMT. This is a team based on Heavy Offense (HO) with a few surprises inside. This team is just about perfect, but there's something missing that allows me to lose a battle here and there and I want to minimize losses as much as I can. So, here we go!

empoleon.png

Sapphire the Empoleon @ Focus Sash
Ability: Torrent
Nature: Rash
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spe / 252 SpA

- Aqua Jet
- Stealth Rock
- Surf
- Ice Beam

Empoleon is resistant to 13/18 Pokemon types, which makes it a great lead and a general wall. There aren't too many Electric- or Ground- leads, so this is a nice Pokemon considering it can't be poisoned or effected by (t-tar or Hippo's) Sandstorm. Aqua Jet is for priority and to make swift, cheap kills. Stealth rock is obvious, Surf is for STAB, and Ice Beam is for anything that I can't hit with Surf.

sugimoris212.png

Emerald the Scizor @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
Nature: Lonely
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- U-Turn
- Toxic

A revenge killer and swift KO master, Scizor is just the right edition to my team, as he provides scouting support and strong attacks thanks to Technician. Toxic is there for filler, and really hasn't come in handy. I would like a suggestion for another attack there. There's really nothing much else to say, as Scizor is one of the most OU Pokemon and just about everyone knows how it functions.

Pearl the Togekiss @ Life Orb
Ability: Serene Grace
Nature: Timid
EVs: 16 HP / 252 Spe / 240 SpA

- Air Slash
- AncientPower
- Aura Sphere
- Extremespeed

This is my late game, totally dependent special sweeper that will almost never fail. Extremespeed is for priority, and does a good job even not being backed by any EVs. Aura Sphere is for coverage, especially Rock- and Ice-Types that threaten Togekiss. It can even outrun a 252 Spe Heatran, which in that case Aura Sphere really comes in handy. The other two moves are there to abuse Serene Grace, which increases the chance of special effects, which here happen to be stat boosts and flinching. This is a perfect Pokemon.

salamence.png

Diamond the Salamence @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Rash
EVs: 41 HP / 41 Atk / 176 Spe / 252 SpA

- Draco Meteor
- Brick Break
- Flamethrower / Dragon Pulse
- Roost

Diamond here is my main power house. It kicks butt any day of the week and can put a dent is most everything. Draco Meteor is for STAB, Brick Break is for coverage, and Roost is for recovery. The last slot I've played around with a bit. Flamethrower is nice, but when a Water-Type or other Fire-Type and the like stall me out, my special attack is fizzled out from constant Draco Meteoring. I tried Dragon Pulse, but it's not the same. I really need help with this guy.

s_luxray.png

Platinum the Luxray @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Rash
EVs: 120 Atk / 136 Spe / 252 SpA

- HP Ground / HP Grass
- Thunderbolt
- Crunch
- Ice Fang

This is my MixRay. It's a very nice Pokemon and it contains my only ground move on the team. It's nice to have this guy to lay back on midway through a battle to come in and mop up its teammates mess. And it provides opponents a nice surprise because most people expect HP Grass, not HP Ground. (I made it HP Ground because HP Grass didn't do anything for me at all.) Ice Fang is to hit slower Ground-Types, Crunch is for ghosts, and Thunderbolt is for STAB.

479-heat.png

Ruby the Rotom @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Timid
EVs: 128 HP / 212 Spe / 168 SpA

- Shadow Ball
- Charge Beam
- Substitute
- Toxic

I call this set SubTox Rotom. It is my own creation, using Substitute, then Toxic to stall out foes that I couldn't normally beat on my own. It really helps me, especially when opponents are stupid enough to switch, allowing me to set up and poison half their team. Charge Beam increases my Special Attack every once and awhile, and is a STAB move, just like Shadow Ball.

If youg guys haven't noticed by now, I named mt entire team of the 3rd and 4th generation games.

I appreciate any tips and changes to my team! Thanks for reading!

hey there, nice team! I too am running a togekiss on my team but mine is nasty plot varient. any way, in place of toxic on scizor, i'd go with swords dance for a boost. To solve your salamence problem, i'd go with flamethrower over dragon pulse and go with earthquake over brick break. Earthquake gets just about the same coverage as brick break but hits fires that you say give him problem. On luxray, stick with Hp grass because the majority of pokemon switching to him a going to ground types and is good against swampert.

I notice a little problem with your survivabilty: You have 4 pokemon with a life orb, only one that can recover (salamence), and two pokes week to stealth rock (salamence and togekiss). You need to swap some with choice items or expert belts or something. but if you insist on keeping them on, I recommend a wish-passer like vaporeon who could heal you team mates. and on terms of recovery, it might be better to swap ancient power for roost on togekiss.

Hope my suggestions help!

Teh Swamp is here to rate your team.

Empoleon is a great lead, but there are some major changes that need to be made. Most importantly, change Surf to Hydro Pump. Without the extra damage provided by Hydro Pump you lose many important KOs, like Metagross, whom you 2HKO with Hydro Pump. Another prevalent issue here is the Rash nature. With this nature, Metagross can bring you down to your Focus Sash with Earthquake and beat you with Bullet Punch, meaning that you will either leave a full health Metagross on the field or fail to put up Stealth Rock. This is why I recommend changing to a Modest nature. Aqua Jet will typically not need to do any sort of real damage, as its main purpose is picking off Focus Sash leads such as Infernape. Infernape brings me to my next point of info: The Focus Sash. Fake Out Infernape will frequently beat you as it will break your Sash and OHKO you with Close Combat, as you only hit it with a measly Aqua Jet. Since Empoleon can survive Metagross' Earthquake with relative ease, I suggest using a Chople Berry. You can now survive Infernape's Close Combat and prevent the opponent from putting up Stealth Rock. Ice Beam is not helping you hit any leads in particular, since you easily OHKO Gliscor with STAB Hydro Pump, try Grass Knot. You OHKO standard 252/0 LeadPert 59% of the time, meaning Swampert is in a position where it either has to attack you and forgo Stealth Rock or leave you at full health. Either way, killing Swampert makes the going easier for Togekiss, Salamence, and Luxray in the long run.

You struggle to check Latias with this team, as nothing can switch into it easily, especially Choice Specs versions. Scizor isn't really running the set he is good with, which is why suggest you change to a bulky Choice Band set. Use a spread of 200 HP/136 ATK/176 SDEF. The spread, while not in specific, allows you to survive non-Life Orb Timid Latias' HP Fire, defensive Celebi's HP Fire, and Choice Specs Starmie's Hydro Pump.

Togekiss is okay, but there are certainly better ways to run this set. With Timid, you are only hindering Extremespeed's performance. Use a Naughty nature, the ability Hustle, which boosts your poor Attack stat, making Extremespeed viable, and use a spread of 252 ATK/152 SPE/104 SATK and a Life Orb, the Evs designed to outspeed max speed Jolly Tyranitar so you can hit it with Aura Sphere. You're not using paralysis or Choice Scarf, and with the overlapping coverage with Extremespeed, Air Slash is not recommended and should be replaced with Fire Blast, which fries Scizor, Skarmory, and Metagross. Hidden Power Rock is okay, but I suggest using Shadow Ball, which hits Rotom reliably and has unresisted coverage with Aura Sphere.

Salamence can be a great stall-breaker, but this set you are running does not accomplish that. The EVs are horribly overcrowding Salamence and accomplish nothing in particular, so try a spread of 80 ATK/176 SPE 252 SATK and a Rash nature(to deal with Lucario better than Mild). Use a set of Draco Meteor, Flamethrower, Roost, and replace Brick Break with Earthquake. Now, you have another Ground move and Salamence has unresisted coverage. Since SkarmBliss could easily be problematic to your team, you can try Outrage over Roost to deal hefty damage to Blissey, although you will find that without Roost, Salamence will die incredibly fast.

Luxray is a cool Pokemon, but he is horribly outclassed and is a dead weight on your team. You lack anything to beat faster Pokemon apart from Togekiss, and this is why I suggest Life Orb Jolteon. Use a set of Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball, HP Grass, and Charge Beam/Yawn, depending on if you want Jolteon to sweep or force switches, which is really your preference. He could also run wish support to heal off LO recoil and help your quick-to-die Pokemon like Salamence and Togekiss. Life Orb Jolteon has incredible power, a very good moveset and fantastic speed, you will find him scoring many KOs.

You need a rapid spinner and a revenge killer at this point. Starmie springs to mind. Run a set of 40 HP/252 SATK/216 SPE, a Timid nature and a Choice Scarf. Use a set of Hydro Pump, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam and Rapid Spin. With Rapid Spin, you greatly increase Salamence's and Togekiss' longevity. In my opinion, Hydro Pump outclasses Surf, since with 299 Special Attack, you'll be wanting to do as much damage as possible, but f you feel safer with Surf, that's your choice. Now you can check Salamence, Gyarados, and Jolly Lucario.

Good luck with your team.

I agree with the above poster about Empoleon and Scizor.

Extemespeed seems to be the minor aspect of your Togekiss, so don't drop Grace for Hustle. Instead, I would run Thunder Wave (or Body Slam) and Wish/Roost, over Ancientpower and Extremespeed. Alternative to Wish/Roost (if you don't want/need Healing) or Aura Sphere, is Water Pulse too, giving you parafusion and flinch hax. I would just stick to T-Wave/Body Slam, Wish, Aura Sphere and Air Slash, myself. If you use Body Slam, make sure you use a Naive nature.

I agree that your Salamence EVs are dodgy, and that you should change them, but I would like to point out that it is becoming standard for Salamence to run maximum speed with a +speed nature; I would advise a Dragon Dancing Salamence (with a max-speed EV spread). You don't have any setup sweepers, so I think DD Salamence is a worthy addition.

I agree with switching Luxray out for something else; either a LO Jolteon as suggested, or a Revenge killer or Rapid Spinner like ScarfStarmie.

Some nitpicks about Scizor; you're running lonely? Adamant is more effective, as you don't sacrifice defence. This is important since Scizor doesn't have recovery and with LO can't afford many hits as it is. I agree, Toxic on Scizor is somewhat useless. If you stay with the LO set, you need either Swords Dance or Roost.
Although the best bet would be to follow The Swamp's suggestion, the CB set would probably be more helpful here. It acts as an even better revenge killer, and by switching Toxic with Pursuit, psychics and ghosts are all the easier to KO.
Hope this helped!

As said above, Toxic is pretty useless on Scizor. Use Swords Dance, Bullet Punch, Superpower and U-Turn/Roost/Quick Attack/Bug Bite for Scizor with an Adamant nature.
Also, as a fellow lead Empoleon user and said above too, use Hydro Pump over Surf. Also keep Ice Beam over Grass Knot, it helps vs anti-lead Dragonite.
Please, please don't use Luxray. If you want to use a Dark type, use Tyranitar @ Babiry Berry with Dragon Dance, Stone Edge, Crunch and Fire Punch. If you want to use an Electric type, use Jolteon @ Life Orb with Charge Beam, HP Grass/HP Ice, Thunderbolt and Shadow Ball, or be happy with the Rotom, but don't use Luxray. It kinda sucks in OU, and is dead weight imo.

I would like to thank everyone for their suggestions. It will really help. I would love to take in more suggestions if you so please, but let me put up the changes that I have made so far.

Empoleon
Rash Nature --> Modest Nature
Surf --> Hydro Pump

Scizor
Toxic --> Swords Dance

Salamence
Brick Break --> Earthquake

If these small changes work out fine, I'll maybe make some drastic changes, like replacing team members. Thanks again and keep the RMTs coming!

2 DD T-Tars just ripped straight through my team! What can I do to prevent this from happening again?! Anything but Starmie is helpful!

Salamence loses a ton of its wall-breaking capabilities with only earthquake because it can now be stalled out by Blissey (quite easily I might add). Move those HP evs to attack or speed (maybe try 252 speed, 232 spA, 16 atk with a naive nature), keep flamethrower, and either keep brick break or go with a set of Draco Meteor/Flamethrower/Earthquake/Outrage.

Scizor needs a much bulkier spread to help with your Latias weakness. What good do those speed evs do, anyway. Also get rid of toxic and replace it with roost, or change it to a choice band scizor and replace toxic with pursuit.

Rotom needs more defense because otherwise you get raped by gyarados. Or you could turn it into a scarf set. This would actually give you a last ditch way to stop DDTar actually cause you could trick a scarf onto it and send in scizor.

Luxray is just not that good. What about replacing it with a Latias? that gives you an electric resist, and gives you nice water and fire resists. I know you already have Emp for water but leads tend to die or get badly hurt early on in the match, and your only other resist is frail, stealth rock weak, and constantly getting worn down by life orb meaning that even with roost it can't switch in very many times. Maybe a scarf latias because otherwise you're exceptionally jolteon weak. A jolteon of your own could work too, but that would leave you pretty weak to scarftran cause you would only have one fire resist

On Togekiss I think a bulkier spread with roost and thunder wave could be helpful as it would let you make the most out of that flinch rate.

Anyway you don't have to do any of that, just some things to consider. Definitely change Empoleon and Scizor's natures though. Modest and Adamant

Edit: Pert could also work over Luxray. It gives you an electric immunity and a fire resist, and is a fantastic tyranitar counter. I'd use a set of 252 hp, 252 defense, 4 in atk or SpD and the moves Earthquake/Ice Beam/Roar/Protect, something like that

Change Scizor to an Adamant nature. Quite frankly, lonely nature sucks on Scizor.

Next, change Luxray to a Life Orb Jolteon. I know Luxray is prolly one of your favorites but he can't compete on the Standard ladder. As The Swamp has said, it is dead weight. It would be a great idea to use one of the sets he mentioned. The ev's on Mence are unnecessary. You should just change it to either, 80 ATK/176 SPE/ 252 SATK and a Rash nature or 16 Atk/ 252 Spe/240 SAtk and a Naive nature. If you choose the latter I recommend running EQ over Brick Break, and maybe consider running OutRage over Roost.

On Scizor get rid of toxic and replace it with roost, or change it to a choice band scizor and replace toxic with pursuit. Or you can change Toxic to Swords Dance, and change U-turn to BugBite.

Looks like you'll be seeing a lot of SD Luke problems. If he's ballsy enough to stay in and crunch Rotom, he will literally rape your team every time.
