Hello, this is my first RMT and post on the website. I've been into competitive battling for about 2 years, and have been following the website since. I don't normally play on Showdown (elo is 1526), as I prefer playing on my 3DS. But I would love to have suggestions to the team, and if I did something wrong, I would love help from you guys.
The team is a balance team, trying to set up a Mega Garchomp sweep, by taking out and wearing down threats.
(Mega) Garchomp
Item: Garchompite
Ability: Rough Skin (Sand Force)
Nature: Naughty
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk/ 4 Atk/ 252 Speed
- Stone Edge
-Earthquake
-Fire Blast
- Draco Meteor
I've always wanted to use this monster in competitive battling. The speed stat is turn off, but this team is meant for Garchomp to come in late game and sweep under the sand with Sticky Web as the main component to the sweep. The Mixed set is to take out common switch ins and counters for Garchomp like Ferrothorn and Skarmory.
Galvantula
Item: Focus Sash
Ability: Compound Eyes
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk/ 4 Sp. Def/ 252 Speed
- Thunder
- Bug Buzz
- Giga Drain
- Sticky Web
I hate spiders, except for Galvantula because he is actually very helpful to this team and has saved my ass more times than I can remember. He is my usually my common lead, unless there's a threat that can set up that I know will lead, which then I pick Sableye. Galvantula purpose is to use it's great speed to set up Sticky Web and usually die off trying to do as much damage as possible. I'll sometimes save him to take out bulky Pokemon like Mandibuzz and use the Focus Sash for a safe switch in.
Sableye
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP/ 4 Sp. Def/ 252 Def
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Knock Off
- Recover
Sableye has many purposes for this team. He can be my back up lead, to check/counter set up Pokemon leads. Will-O-Wisp is cripple many Physical Pokemon, and to have passive damage on walls like Mega Venusaur. Knock off is to take away the other Pokemon's item and a way to do some damage. Taunt is very helpful for many many many reasons. Stop entry hazards, walls from recovering, set up sweepers, and to stop status. Recover is to get that priority heal.
Tyranitar
Item: Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
Nautre: Quiet
EVs: 252 HP/ 52 Atk/ 176 Sp. Atk/ 28 Speed
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Dark Pulse
- Flamethrower
Let me explain. When I was team building, I originally had a defensive T-tar. I had many problems with it. I was use to the Assault Vest variant, I was over estimating T-Tar with out the AV. It wasn't THAT good without AV, and it wasn't doing anything in return. Physical Def T-tar was garbage in my experience. So I looked around, trying to find a good T-tar set that wasn't crippled badly with a Smooth Rock. Tyraniboah was a gimmick set that I saw, and I picked it and hey it works good. This set is mainly surprised factor. Many common switch ins like Sizcor, Skarmory, and Ferrothorn fall to this set. Chansey is a threat to the team, and this set takes care of that Pink blob in a hurry. Focus Punch hits the Pink Blobs, T-Tars, and other Dark Types, under the Sub. Dark Pulse is just to get Stab, and hit Physical walls that resist Focus Punch for decent damage. But I am considering switching it with Ice beam or Thunderbolt to hit more switch in threats like Gliscor, or bulky water types.
Landorus-T
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 Atk/ 252 Def/ 4 Speed
- Stealth Rock
- U-Turn
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
Landorus-T is my SR setter-upper (is that even a word?) and has a nice ability to check some physical threats. Not much else to say, U-Turn is used to get some momentum on my side while scouting. Knock off is to cripple Pokemon and do a lot of damage. and Earthquake is STAB.
Snorlax
Item: Assault Vest
Ability: Thick Fat
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk/ 252 Sp Def/ 4 Def
- Body Slam
- Pursuit
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake
My Special Wall. When team building I notice I had a bad weakness against water types, mainly Greninja, and to Special Attackers. I have used Snorlax in the past on my team revolving around Charizard and have found great success. I chose Body Slam over Return for the chance of spreading Paralyze. Pursuit to penalize Pokemon trying to switch out, especially Gengar. Fire Punch is to hit those Steel types that aren't SE damaged by Earthquake. For being a Pokemon I kinda of put into the team without thinking of synergy, I believe he fits in quiet well.
