Hey guys! I'm new to OU and I asked around and people told me offensive were good for starters, so I made one. As you can see in the title it is a mega manectric team, I'm not sure if it is the best mega but after a bit of testing I liked it.
Manectric @ Manectite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Volt Switch
- Flamethrower
This is the standard manectric set, not much to say about the set itself. I think manectric is quite powerful because it outspeeds the majority of the metagame, can switch out of unfavourable matchups and beats common threats such as keldeo, starmie, ferrothorn,lando-T,azumarill etc.
Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pursuit
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Superpower
Tyranitar was my second pokemon. It is also a standard choice scarf set and it has a decent synergy with manectric in that if one of the eon twins come in manectric can volt switch out into this. It can also tank a hit from +1 char X and can wall kyurem and raikou, three major threats to manectric. Tyranitar also annoys weather sweepers (non sand obv).
+1 252+ Atk Mega Charizard X Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar: 130-154 (73.8 - 87.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Surf
- Roost
- Draco Meteor
Latios forms a core with tyranitar in that he takes out keldeo, a prominent threat, as well as garchomp and the dragons (when not set up). I am using defog simply for hazard removal and everything esle is standard. Latios also beats rotom and manaphy and thundurus who could otherwise be quite annoying. Latios also generally tanks hits scizor and tyranitar cannot and vice versa. Surf is to beat heatran who can wall manectric if spdef.
Scizor (F) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit
- U-turn
Scizor forms a voltturn core with manectric as well as checking tyranitar and again, the eon twins. It generally can check many threats dangerous to my team due to its bulk (when it comes in for free) such as excadrill, bisharp, etc.
Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 240 HP / 176 Def / 92 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Tail
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock
This garchomp is a standard defensive stealth rock setter. It provides ways of hitting ferrothorn as well as the ability to deter some potential sweepers and shut down many like bisharp excadrill and scizor. He also switches into fire and grass type attacks well which can threaten my team
Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Hydro Pump
- Rapid Spin
- Psychic
- Hidden Power [Fire]
I originally had Gengar in this spot and defog over surf on latios but I felt like I didn't need a spinblocker (garchomp can punish exca and latios and manectric can beat starmie) and that he was pretty much useless in terms of dealing with threats aside from mega venusaur (which starmie beats) and steels (if he hits focus blast). Starmie beats anyone it would regularly with its strong STAB moves as well as hitting ferro and ohkoing scizor with hp fire. Of course it has rapid spin too to remove hazards.
Threats I have noticed which are difficult to get rid of without creating holes:
Mega Venusaur: Beats most of the team bar latios and is kinda soft checked by starmie but is still a big threat because it walls most of my team. Also, if it runs hp fire it can destroy scizor.
Azumarill: Mega annoying without latios and starmie, especially because it switches into a pursuit locked ttar.
Opposing Starmie: Without Manectric opposing starmie are really annoying, whether they have ice or hp fire.
Manectric @ Manectite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
