ORAS OU First RMT OU Mega Manectric Voltturn

Hey guys! I'm new to OU and I asked around and people told me offensive were good for starters, so I made one. As you can see in the title it is a mega manectric team, I'm not sure if it is the best mega but after a bit of testing I liked it.

Manectric @ Manectite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Volt Switch
- Flamethrower

This is the standard manectric set, not much to say about the set itself. I think manectric is quite powerful because it outspeeds the majority of the metagame, can switch out of unfavourable matchups and beats common threats such as keldeo, starmie, ferrothorn,lando-T,azumarill etc.

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pursuit
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Superpower

Tyranitar was my second pokemon. It is also a standard choice scarf set and it has a decent synergy with manectric in that if one of the eon twins come in manectric can volt switch out into this. It can also tank a hit from +1 char X and can wall kyurem and raikou, three major threats to manectric. Tyranitar also annoys weather sweepers (non sand obv).

+1 252+ Atk Mega Charizard X Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar: 130-154 (73.8 - 87.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Surf
- Roost
- Draco Meteor

Latios forms a core with tyranitar in that he takes out keldeo, a prominent threat, as well as garchomp and the dragons (when not set up). I am using defog simply for hazard removal and everything esle is standard. Latios also beats rotom and manaphy and thundurus who could otherwise be quite annoying. Latios also generally tanks hits scizor and tyranitar cannot and vice versa. Surf is to beat heatran who can wall manectric if spdef.

Scizor (F) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit
- U-turn

Scizor forms a voltturn core with manectric as well as checking tyranitar and again, the eon twins. It generally can check many threats dangerous to my team due to its bulk (when it comes in for free) such as excadrill, bisharp, etc.

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 240 HP / 176 Def / 92 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Tail
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock

This garchomp is a standard defensive stealth rock setter. It provides ways of hitting ferrothorn as well as the ability to deter some potential sweepers and shut down many like bisharp excadrill and scizor. He also switches into fire and grass type attacks well which can threaten my team

Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Hydro Pump
- Rapid Spin
- Psychic
- Hidden Power [Fire]

I originally had Gengar in this spot and defog over surf on latios but I felt like I didn't need a spinblocker (garchomp can punish exca and latios and manectric can beat starmie) and that he was pretty much useless in terms of dealing with threats aside from mega venusaur (which starmie beats) and steels (if he hits focus blast). Starmie beats anyone it would regularly with its strong STAB moves as well as hitting ferro and ohkoing scizor with hp fire. Of course it has rapid spin too to remove hazards.

Threats I have noticed which are difficult to get rid of without creating holes:

Mega Venusaur: Beats most of the team bar latios and is kinda soft checked by starmie but is still a big threat because it walls most of my team. Also, if it runs hp fire it can destroy scizor.

Azumarill: Mega annoying without latios and starmie, especially because it switches into a pursuit locked ttar.

Opposing Starmie: Without Manectric opposing starmie are really annoying, whether they have ice or hp fire.

Hey darzy7 ! Welcome to OU, the best tier in the game :) . Lets get started on your team and see what we can make better :)

Mega-Manectric surely is a great Pokemon in OU, although it has fallen from where it once stood in OU. Your EV spread and moveset look perfect, and although this isn't a necessary suggestion, you may opt for Overheat instead of Flamethrower. Its the age old Pokemon concern: Do you take the extra power with the drawback, or do you take the weaker, more consistent option (other examples include Outrage/Dragon Claw yadadada)? I personally like Overheat, but it depends on what you want for your team.

Choice Scarf Tyranitar is a great Pokemon to use, but this team is not the place for it. If you are going to use Tyranitar as a Pursuit-trapper, Choice Band is more useful than Choice Scarf. The basis behind this change is that Pursuit basically has the highest priority bracket when the opponent is switching out, nothing occurs before it (except Mega Evolution but thats a whole different conversation because then your opponent stays in so Pursuit is not faster, its a headache), so why use a Choice Scarf? You also don't need Crunch on Tyranitar if you have Pursuit, so I would opt for Earthquake to give you more coverage against Pokemon like Raikou. Instead of Sand Stream, you may want to opt for Unnerve Tyranitar, the extra boost in Special Defense is nice, but you don't want to accidentally set up sand for opposing Excadrill. This isn't a necessary change, but just one to keep in mind.

Latios is an all-around amazing Pokemon, and you will end up using it to great effect. EV spread looks fine to me, and so does the moveset. Just beware of faster threats such as Scarf Landorus and Raikou, two Pokemon that can destroy your team as it is.

Scizor is a great addition to your team, being able to beat CM Clefable, a Pokemon who would otherwise completely wall your team. I love to use the Bulky Band set, as it's able to tank hits from almost everything, and deal out huge damage in return. Instead of Pursuit, go for Knock Off, as you already have Tyranitar to trap the Lati's and Scizor will not want to take an HP Fire from either of them. Knock Off just comes in handy more often on Scizor.

Starmie is probably the best spinner in the game, being able to beat all the other Spinners, like Excadrill. I would definitely change Analytic for Natural Cure. I find Natural Cure to be more useful, as Starmie usually isn't slower than anything, though I am not sure if Analytic affect switches. Regardless, Natural Cure allows Starmie to be a status absorber, taking Burns and Toxics for your team. I would also change your moveset a little, replacing Hydro Pump for Scald and HP Fire for Recover. Scald can come in super clutch with that burn chance, being able to burn Mega Venusaur and Azumarill. Due to the fact that you are running LO Starmie, Recover is a must have, increasing Starmie's longevity.

Overall, you have a great team, but Mega Charizard X has a field day once it sets up DDs, so if that happens, your Tyranitar is most likely going to be your savior, taking one +1 Earthquake then KOing back with Stone Edge. Just make sure you have fun battling, and feel free to ask me any more questions, either here or via PM :)
