First RMT [OU] - new to this thing called D/P

I haven't played on NB for almost a year, and I wasn't really interested in attempting to learn the new D/P metagame mainly because I was apprehensive towards learning all the new strategies.

But now that I finally got and played D/P and learned most of the basics, I decided to come back to NB to see how I fared against others. So with that said, here's my team!

Synergy

This is actually more of an individual team instead of a co-operative team. All my PKMN can fend for themselves, although there are times when sacrifices must be made so that another poke can take charge.

Jolteon

135.png

@ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EV's: 252 Spe/252 SpA/4 HP
Nature: Timid

-Baton Pass
-Hidden Power (Grass)
-Thunderbolt
-Substitute

I loved Jolteon in ADV and I love him now. He fends off leads such as Gyrados, Aerodactyl (takes out his Sash if he decides to use SR instead of EQ), he can sub against Sleep Powder from Roserades, and he's faster than most common Choice Scarves (Metagross, Heatran). I mainly use Jolteon to sub and BP to the PKNM of my choice, usually it's to Gyrados or Mence so they can DD.

Forretress

@ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EV's: 252 HP/192 Def/64 Atk
Nature: Relaxed

-Explosion
-Gyro Ball
-Toxic Spikes
-Rapid Spin

I really needed a spinner for this team, and Forretress was immediately my first choice. He's an amazing Aerodactyl lead counter as I can simply spin away SR and render his Focus Sash useless, although I usually Gyro Ball him first so he doesn't pose a threat if my opponent decides to switch out. He's also great for taking out Gyrados's who manage to get one DD in, as I can just plode away at them. Toxic Spikes are great for additional damage, and it really hurts things like Blissey and T-Tar.

Heatran

images

@ Shuca Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
EV's: 252 Spe/252 SpA/4 HP
Nature: Rash

-Earth Power
-Explosion
-Flamethrower
-Stealth Rock

Shuca Berry on Heatran is simply amazing; I can't count how many times I've come face to face with other Heatrans with CS that were completely fooled when their Earth Power didn't OHKO me. It also makes Heatran a lot more versatile, since his outstanding base SpA isn't just limited to one move. I'm rarely able to pull a SR rock as I usually come face to face with many revenge killers, but if I can get a subpass from Jolteon I can pull it off easily.

Salamence

images

@ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EV's: 252 Spe/252 Atk/4 HP
Nature: Adamant

-Dragon Dance
-Earthquake
-Outrage
-Stone Edge

Ahh the ever-so-loveable Salamence. If I can pull off just one DD I'm usually guaranteed at least 1-2 kills, sometimes I get lucky and manage to hit them with another Outrage during confusion which grants me another kill. With the added LO he can really pack a punch, and there's not many counters that can stand up to his Outrage other than the dreaded Ice Shard.

Gengar

94.png

@ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EV's: 252 Spe/252 SpA/4 HP
Nature: Timid

-Destiny Bond
-Focus Blast
-Shadow Ball
-Substitute

Gengar is great for stopping spinners from knocking away my Toxic Spikes and SR, and Destiny Bond can take out almost anything that manages to setup. He also completely stops Breloom in its tracks, and if I can pull off Focus Blast then Lucario is done for.

Gyrados

130.png

@ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EV's: 252 Spe/252 Atk/4 HP
Nature: Jolly

-Dragon Dance
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Waterfall

I was rather weary about using LO Gyrados as he usually is taken down fast, but nevertheless it does its job. I've gotten a few sweeps with a subpass from Jolteon to Gyrados, in which I pull off one DD and the rest is history. I'll usually put in Gyrados on a Scizor, as he can easily setup against him.

Known Threats

Nasty Plot Azelf completely destroys this team. The only way I stand a chance against him is if I can manage to to survive an HP Fighting attack with Heatran and pull off an explosion, and then switch to Jolteon to finish him off.

Calmcune can also kill this team off if I can't pull of DB with Gegngar or if he's already KO'ed. I'll usually just hit him with a TB from Jolteon as a final sacrifice move, and hit him with an Outrage from Mence.

MixApe can also cause problems he pulls off a NP and takes out Gyrados. After that I have no other counters except for Jolteon and Gengar, where one or the other can be sacrificed to take him out.

That ends my first RMT; let the rating begin!

You don't really have anybody to take a Special Hit, and with no Scarfs or wall besides Fortress, a pokemon that sets up on you pretty much ends the game. But also you should put Fire Blast on Your Salamence instead of Stone Edge Because Stone edge doesn't kill that much more then What OUtrage/EQ will cover. Fire Blast will OHKO Skarmory, Fortress, And Do Alot of Damage to Metagross. You Might Also want to switch your Salamence's Nature to Naive and put 232 ATK/24 SPA/252 Speed, so that your Salamence Will OHKO the skarmory and fortress.

On Gengar Destiny Bond Seems out of Place..If your that Worried about Suicune You could just put it to sleep with Hypnosis. Substitue is also out of place you should replace that with Thunderbolt for alot more coverage. But really it looks like Gengar should be changed to a timid/modest all out attacking Scarfed Pokemon, so that youl can Revenge kill things that set up on you. If you scarfed it your NP Azelf problems are completely gone.

Good team =]

lol
Staying in on a dactyl lead is way too risky, and you can't do much to metgross and even less to heatran, while they easily OHKO you back with ground-type moves.

You have a decent team...just learn how to use it.

I don't really like your lead either, imo. Use Forretress or Heatran instead. (:

Just wondering, do you have a good record with this team?

Yeah, special attacks cause the biggest problem for my team, and I don't have any (p)hazers to stop any set-ups.

I've never had any trouble from Skarm or Forry, since Heatran takes care of them. And even if they're put up against Salamence I'll usually switch out unless I've used DD. Stone Edge covers other Salamence's and Gyrados for me, but I'll try Fire Blast and see how things go =)

I've had alot of success with this Gengar, but yeah a CS Gar would really take care of my Azelf problem, so I think I'll try that too.

Thanks!

Well I rarely see a Dactyl anyways, and even when I do my opponent usually predicts a switch into a wall instead of leaving Jolteon in, so that's when I hit him with TB. And against Meta and Heatran I just sub to see their attack and switch to an appropriate counter.

Hmm yeah, I might try Heatran as a lead so I can setup SR.

Well first I have to download Shoddy =\ I've just been on NBS because I'm used to the engine and am too lazy to adapt to Shoddy atm, lol...But as for my record on NBS, even though I play unrated and can't properly track it I'd say I've won with this team about 80-85% of the time.

Thanks!
