My first RMT, and I've been testing this for a while. Works well, and most of it is based on getting my Salamence to sweep, because i love mence.
Don't blame me if it's horrible, it's my first team.
My mence is the main poke, and if it doesn't get the sweep, then Scizor does, and if Scizor doesn't, then Volcarona will, and if he doesn't, then Conk will, and if he doesn't, Garchomp will come and fix things. This team is so offencive the opponent cracks under the extreme pressure of Team Salamence Fury!
Salamence @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Attack/4 Defence/252 Speed
Nature: Naive
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
Yeah, I said in the title that I love Salamence. Look at that awesome sprite, so much epicness packed into pixels. I even love it enough to make a whole team around it.
So far, this set has been the best for my team. It's swept so many times it's not funny. Of course Outrage lock is an issue, but normally I get rid of the Steels before I try to sweep. Fire blast is there just in case.
Scizor @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP/56 Attack/188 Special Defence/12 Speed
Nature: Adamant
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Roost
- Bug Bite
I love this set, no matter what the EV spread.
The LO is to get the OHKO on Scarfchomp with +4 BP.
The spread is to get lots of bulk, grab a jump point from Attack, and the 12 Speed is to outspeed the normal CB Scizor.
This thing comes on a Scarfchomp's Outrage or DClaw aimed at Salamence, and set up while he's switching.
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Thorns
EVs: 252 HP/48 Defence/208 Special Defence
Nature: Relaxed
- Leech Seed
- Spikes
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball
IVs: 1 Speed
I love this spiky watermelon-octopus thing. Although it opens a big weakness to Fire, it also blocks so many others. The Fire weakness is easily covered up by the rest of the team.
The EVs are that of the standard Ferro, and do me very well, aas it's my only real counter to DD Gyarados.
I use 1 Speed IV in case there's an epic Ferro v Ferro stallwar at the end.
Garchomp @ Yache Berry
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 HP/252 Attack/4 Speed
Nature: Adamant
- Stealth Rock
- Dragon Tail
- Earthquake
- Aqua Tail
Another one of my own EV spreads, and it works pretty well. Counters so much, like Balloon Exca, BalloonTran and all Baton Pass teams (which I was previously very weak to). It also gives me a way to stop gyarados (if Ferro's dead) and set up SR, so Mence can take Skarmory out in one hit.
Volcarona @ Leftovers
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 220 HP/204 Defence/56 Special Attack/28 Speed
Nature: Modest
- Quiver Dance
- Fiery Dance
- Bug Buzz
- HP Rock
This is a set I made myself, and is so effective. 220 HP gets an odd number, 56 Special Attack gets a jump, 28 Speed outspeeds base 70s, pokes that try to outspeed base 70s, and pokes that try to outspeed both. Also using 28 instead of 24 avoids the tie with Starmie.
The leftovers were put in Defence.
Conkeldurr @ Leftovers
Ability: Guts
EVs: 120 HP/252 Attack/136 Special Defence
Nature: Adamant
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Stone Edge
Since I covered most of the metagame's top threats with the last 5, i decided on this guy. Mainly it's nose encouraged me, but i need another check for Excadrill and all Sandstorm pokes.
This guy also helps with Volcarona's sweep with it's fighting moves killing Heatran, Blissey and Chansey.
Summary
This isn't my first team, but it is one of my best. Covering so much of the meta isn't something every team can boast about. I have a whole team of status absorbers (not Salamence, though) who might even benefit from them.
Altogether, these guys can rip apart teams one-by-one until my Salamence can come in and clean up. I use Salamence in all of my battles to prove that he is better than his rankings suggest (28th is good, but could be a lot better). Feel free to rate, and I hope I turned some of you towards Salamence.
