First RMT post.

EDIT: Forgot to mention this is for use on Shoddy in OU 1vs1 with standard clauses

So this is my first RMT, and my 2nd post on the forums after over a year of lurking. This team has been working pretty well for me since I started using it. But I definitely need people to look at it because like all teams I make, it always feels like theres something missing.

The basic concept of the team came from me wanting to use Alakazam. I decided to use him as support. Basically mess up another poke on the opposing team to help the rest of team. Then I thought "what else can mess up the other team?" Paralysis. Thats it really. Screw 1 poke in a big way with a trick, paralyze as much as possible, and set up a sweep.
So here it is.

Alakazam (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Trick
- Grass Knot
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball

This is my current starter. Its always nice to be able to screw over one pokemon on the other team with trick, but the amount of ScarfGar leads I run into is starting to make me rethink using this first. I would still like to keep it on the team but maybe save it for later in the match. I've also decided to use Shadow Ball over Focus Blast because the accuracy was really starting to get to me. I find that the main use of Focus Blast is to
deal with Tyranitar and Weavile and both don't enjoy getting Specs tricked onto them.

---
Electivire (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 252 Atk/176 Spd/80 SAtk
Lonely nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Thunderbolt
- Earthquake
- Cross Chop
- Ice Punch

Electrive was added to this team recently because without him, I have serious problems with Magnezone. Also helps me deal with Skarm/Bliss and absorb T-waves which can otherwise cripple this team. Standard set really, but if a change can be made to help with any possible
weaknesses let me know.
---

Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 212 HP/56 Atk/136 Def/104 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
- Thunder Wave
- Ice Fang/Stone Edge/DD

One of the 3 paralyzers on the team. Bulky EV spread...pretty basic stuff. I'm considering dropping Ice Fang on him as many of the bulky grass Pokemon switching in take pitiful damage on it, but it does at least give me something to hit Garchop with. I suppose DD or Stone Edge can also be added in its place, and I am leaning towards DD.

---
Golduck (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Cloud Nine
EVs: 76 HP/136 Def/252 Spd/46 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Surf
- Psychic/Ice Beam
- Hypnosis

I realize this seems like a silly choice, but it has actually been working well. I really wanted a Calm Minder to be in this spot and after using a few different ones(Lucario, Raikou, And Golduck so far) I have ended up
sticking with Golduck. It really is the backbone of the team. The paralysis helps with his average speed as does Agility(more on that later) and whatever isn't paralyzed by the time he comes in just gets put to
sleep. I love Hypnosis and Calm Mind together are and these EV's allow him to take a few physical hits. I find that Celebi is really a problem with this set, so Ice beam could replace Psychic. However,
no matter what I add Starmie walls this very well.

---
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP/46 Atk/76 Def/136 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Reflect
- Body Slam
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock/Wish

More paralysis support here. In fact nothing but team support really. At the moment I am using Stealth Rock on this guy because I had previously had a Clefable with Wish. Clefable has been dropped though, so I think its time
to add wish onto him.

---
Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/100 Def/56 Spd/100 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Agility
- Baton Pass
- Hidden Power Grass/Ice
- Discharge

Third paralyzer, although of all the Pokes on the team he what I have the least problem changing. Agility can be a huge help with a Golduck Sweep, and really, there isn't one thing on the team that doesn't love the speed boost. Grass is what I am using on him at the moment because Swampert comes in so often on this set and tries to phaze. The problem I am having with him is his durability. Without Roost and no spinner he can only switch in a few times. However if Roost is added, Hidden Power has to be dropped, which leaves him open to to so many things. I have a few things I was
considering adding in his place:

===================================

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/36 Spd/220 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Hidden Power Grass/Ice
- Discharge
- Sleep Talk
- Rest

Drop Agility Pass completely and make a defensive resttalker.

Or

Gliscor (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 HP/160 Def/96 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Baton Pass
- Agility
- Roost
- Taunt

Pure Agility passing. Would also help draw out Ice and Water attacks making getting the BP to Golduck.

====================================

So please, let me know what you think and what I can do to improve. Looking forward to feedback.

I would change the Alakazam lead also. Use Zapdos (the Resttalker) or Gyarados instead. Some other things I noticed were that you are trying to set up a sweep, but you don't even have DD Gyara and you also need a spinner (Golduck isn't exactly hard to stop...). I would replace Electivire and Golduck as the weakest links. You can add something like Lucario or Machamp that can set up when alot of stuff is paralyzed. For the other a Foretress would be good to Spin and then you can put Stealth Rock on it since Jirachi really needs Wish.I suppose you can still use Thunderwave on Gyarados, but a Resttalk/avalanche/waterfall Gyarados is a good idea. You don't exactly have a reliable Garchomp counter and that gyara counters it pretty well. Thunderwave just helps Garchomp switch in which you don't want.

If you want a good Calm Minder, why not use Jirachi, and switch in Togekiss as your Body Slammer? Togekiss also loves the paralysis boost helping Air Slash.

I really don't see why you're passing Agility if you plan on paralyzing your opponents team either. If you add Togekiss and make Jirachi your Calm Minder, Gyarados + Togekiss + Zapdos + Jirachi will all be bulky enough to last throughout the battle, and take full advantage of the paralysis. Now that I look though, you have a problem with electric types (as you previously mentioned, Magnezone) so switching out Zapdos for something like Thunderwave Celebi, who resists Electric.

I would change Electivire to Thunderbolt / Flamethrower / HP Ice / Cross Chop, and switch your SpA and Atk EVs around. Flamethrower is a much more reliable attack for hitting Magnezone that Earthquake or Cross Chop. Not to mention that this particular build all around has proven to be more effective (for me anyways) than what you're using now.

Thanks for the input guys. How does this sound for proposed changes.

Instead of Golduck:

Togekiss (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP/192 Spd/64 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Wish/Roost
- Body Slam
- Air Slash
- Protect/Aura Sphere/Batonpass

Not really sure what can be put in the last slot. But I think I would rather have Wish over Roost.

As for Jirachi:

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP/80 Def/176 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Thunder
- Substitute
- Psychic

I really do like the idea of making him a CMer.

Zapdos is a tough one. I feel that without a Spdef EV'd Resttalking Zapdos
I could end up having problems with Mixape. If I do decide to drop it it would be for:

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/220 Def/36 Spd
Lonely nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Recover
- Heal Bell
- Thunder Wave
- Grass Knot

I'm still trying to figure out which Gyrados set to run, and I also think Ill give the new Electrive set a try and see how that does.

Actually, a SpDef Zapdos is a great Mixape counter. Assuming a standard Mixape, Close Combat does 26%-31% to Zapdos with 252 HP / 0 Def.

I know, thats why I think I'm gonna keep it. I'm finding I have a big problem with Tyranitar. Perhaps Electrive could be dropped for Swampert?

SO I've been testing the following changes and overall I am very happy with the revised team.

Changes in BOLD.

Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 212 HP/56 Atk/136 Def/104 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Thunder Wave
- Waterfall
- Ice Fang
- Dragon Dance

He really needed DD in order to do decent damage and attempt a sweep.

dpmfa260.png

Swampert (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/52 Atk/126 Def/80 SAtk
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam

TTar was destroying the team as nothing could switch in. I have seen subpunching Swampert in a few matches and kind of liked the idea. This will most likely end up becoming the standard Mixpert sooner or later.
