Okay, so this is my first time trying to build a competitive team. I'm not too well-diversed in strategy; i've never been on the competitive scene. I want to start. So, I would really like some suggestions and critiquing. Just bare in mind I'm a novice! So please, don't forget to explain things!
Crobat @ black sludge
Ability: Infiltrator
Nature: Jolly
252 speed/252 attack/6 def
Move set:
Brave Bird
Defog
Roost
Hypnosis/U-turn
I was going to make Crobat my lead. He is a superb pre-bank lead/defogger due to his base 130 speed. BB is strong hitting and in combination with Infiltator, no one’s hiding behind sub. Defog combined with his impressive speed will ensure hazards are cleared from the field. Roost in combination with black sludge will recover decent HP when needed. I can’t decide between U-turn, which allows me momentum and a hit and run, or Hypnosis, which in combination with defog lowering the opponents evasion, has increased accuracy.
Weezing @ black sludge
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Bold
252 hp/252 defense/6 sp. def
Move set:
Will-O-Wisp
Sludge Wave
Fire Blast
Pain-Split
Not really sure about Weezing. Someone mentioned he was a good wall in synergy with other pokemon. Then again, someone said that stopped being the case after Gen 3. He touts an impressive 130 base defense and a decent base 90 attack. Levitate ensures no damage on the switch in from entry hazards like spikes and stealth rocks. WoW can be quite the annoyance. Sludge Wave for those fairy types. Fire blast to ensure I’m not walled by steel types or anything else weak to fire. Pain-split seems a bit risky but could help you out if used correctly.
Greninja @ Life Orb/Focus Sash
Ability: Protean
Nature: Hasty
252 speed/252 sp. attack/6 hp
Move set:
U-Turn
Grass Knot
Ice beam
Hydro Pump
Greninja is a jack of all trades! His base 122 speed makes him fast. Protean makes literally everything STAB and allows excellent coverage with his movepool. U-turn allows momentum and a hit and run switch out. Grass Knot gets rid of other water types. Ice beam says good-bye to dragon and flying types. Hydro Pump is his strongest attack. He is my special sweeper.
Gengar @ black sludge
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Timid
252 speed/252 sp. attack/6 hp
Move set:
Substitute
Disable
Shadow Ball
Focus Blast
Gengar! I was using his Mega, but seeing as how it’s banned now, back to just Gengar. Levitate means no damage from entry hazards. Take cover behind substitute to scout or see what the opponent will do. If you know the opponent only has one move that OHKO’s Gengar, you disable it. If you know it has two, you probably shouldn’t have Gengar out anyways. Shadow Ball has great coverage with Focus Blast. Though, I do hate Focus Blasts awful accuracy. If only there was a cool pokemon for OU that had gravity (which would also help Crobat’s Hypnosis if he was able to come back in).
Aegislash (0 Speed IV) @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
Nature: Brave
252 hp/252 attack/6 sp. def
Move set:
Swords Dance
King's Shield
Sacred Sword
Shadow Sneak
Aegislash is such a bulky, heavily fortified pokemon! He can switch in on so many occasions. The 0 Speed IV’s helps enable it to abuse its signature ability. That lets you take a hit first in your bulky shield stance before changing into your sword stance, attacking with either a pretty powerful sacred sword or priority shadow sneak (thanks to his base 150 attack in sword stance). Physical attackers are threatened by king’s shield. If their attack is dropped then you bust out swords dance and it’s no sweat.
Lucario @ Lucarionite
Ability: Justified/Adaptability (Mega)
Nature: Adamant
252 speed/252 attack/6 hp
Move set:
Close Combat
Bullet Punch
Crunch
Swords Dance
I guess he will be my new Mega (replacing M-Gengar due to the banning of Gengarite) and an additional sweeper for my team. When mega, Adaptability makes Close Combat a 240 BP move (not to mention his base 145 attack stat). Now you can drop ExtremeSpeed and utilize Bullet Punch which is now just as strong. Crunch or Ice Punch for the last move slot I guess depends on who I have trouble with more often with his sweeps.
So, if anyone could let me know how I did and why, along with recommendations, it would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry if my post didn't meet all the expectations of the rules; but when u went to the #mentor on the mibbit iirc thing, from what I could tell they were still asking for these same rules.
