Hey guys,
after i now played pokemon online for a while after a very long break i decided to share my pretty much standard OU team with you and hope for some advice and comments.
To the team:
My intention with this team was to put up a solid fire water grass core and put it together with some offensive guys.
The first poke i thought of when creating the core was Rotom-W
I´ve seen some interesting trick scarf sets but decided for me it would be the best to use a physically defensive variant which can deal with guys like landorus-t, tyranitar, scizor and other offensive threads.
It can also switch into walls and can burn them with will-o-wisp and getting rid of his own status by using rest later.
With the ground resistance it makes a pretty good partner for heatran which is also part of the core.
The access to volt switch comes in handy too.
Rotom-W @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252HP / 252 Def / 4SAtk
Bold Nature
-Volt Switch
-Hydro Pump
-Rest
-Will-O-Wisp
As i already said before i thought that heatran would make a good partner for rotom
I tried some different sets for heatran starting with choice scarf one but i finally found the specially defensive one would be the best.
I first went with Lava Plume, Toxic, Protect and Roar but totally got walled by other heatrans and my team was also lacking a stealth rocker so i decided to change the moveset a bit.
With its enormous special bulk and typing its able to take most special hits and hit hard with its own like 300SAtk.
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248HP / 8 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
-Lava Plume
-Earth Power
-Toxic
-Stealth Rock
Heatrans main task is to put up rocks and switch into skarmory, ferrothorn and other steel types that dont have access to EQ. Toxic is for random switch ins or pokemon that try to stay in on heatran to resist its attacking moves.
The next member of the team is Mega-Venusaur because i found there is no other grass pokemon in OU to fill out this place. Even if i cant use another mega pokemon for like sweeping i think its a pretty solid pokemon that should be able to take on all the pokes that heatran and rotom cant. Therefore its a mixed wall with a pretty standard set and two attacking moves in giga drain and sludge bomb so it doesnt get totally walled by opposing grass types although i might just use EQ over sludge bomb to threaten opposing bisharp and aegislash which my team has a pretty hard time against.
Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252HP / 72 Def / 184 SDef
Bold Nature
-Giga Drain
-Leech Seed
-Sludge Bomb
-Synthesis
On the next slot there is a set i found on smogon which i love very much and which works pretty good on my team i think.
Its assault vest Landorus-T.
This dude can take HP Ice all day long and fire off a heavy hit on its opponent.
Its got Knock Off for utility on switch ins and U-Turn gives synergy with Volt Switch from Rotom.
If ure playing careful around getting burned this poke wrecks.
Its also useful to bluff a scarf/band and then surprise the opponent with an EQ or Stone Edge.
Intimidate also comes in handy if the assault vest gets knocked off.
Landorus-Therian @ Assault Vest
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 124 Atk / 252 HP / 52 SDef / 80 Def
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
- Knock Off
Finding the right pokes for the last two spots took me a while but in the moment im pretty happy with mixed scarf Genesect which can either kill opposing fairies with iron head or surprise the opponent with 4x super effective ice beam or flamethrower. This set pretty much explains itself.
Genesect @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Download
EVs: 160 Atk / 96 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naughty Nature
-Flamethrower
-Ice Beam
-Iron Head
-U-Turn
Naughty Nature is for surviving unboosted priority moves thrown at it.
I tried some other physical sweepers before but i have to say that im pretty glad with this mixed set and the good coverage since i had nothing to kill landorus, dragonite ( even at +1) and garchomp in one hit. So this thing won the competition against weakness policy dragonite, bisharp, lucario and aegislash.
The final pokemon didnt bring me that much luck yet but i didnt find anything better.
It is mandibuzz with the anti entry hazard set from smogon.
Mandibuzz @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
Bold Nature
-Foul Play
-Taunt
-Roost
-Defog
This time didnt get its moment to shine yet but it can somehow deal with those threatening psysical offensive guys that make my team trouble otherwise maybe i should run lefties over rocky helmet for reliable recovery especially after switching in after rocks but i think the extra damage from rocky helmet is needed and has a surprising effect. Before mandibuzz i used togetic and got swept by mega-scizor and bisharp like 500 times which made me change it. Maybe skarmory would be a better option but i didnt try it yet.
Thats all from my side, i hope you like my first RMT and can give me some helpful feedback.
