First RMT: SD Weavile

After lurking smogon for a while, I decided to try actually making a team with thought in it. Bear in mind that this is my first RMT.

The Lead: Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash
Jolly, 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 6 Hp
images

- Taunt
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
Standard Aerodactyl. I wanted something fast to set up the rocks, and the dinosaur does it beautifully. Along with 130 Base speed taunt to prevent other leads from setting up. It also has STAB stone edge and earthquake to threaten Gyrados and Heatran, among other things.
The Bander: Scizor @ Choice Band
Adamant, 252 attack, 126 Hp, 126 Def, 6 SpDef
images

-Bullet Punch
-Pursuit
-Superpower
-U-Turn
Also bog standard Scizor. The 1# Tyrantitar counter in the game was too good to pass up. It also pseudo traps frail attacks such as Azelf and Gengar. Not really much to say here besides the choice of Superpower. I've noticed that screens are uncommon and the base power makes up for the stat drop (You'd switch most of the time anyway). The EVs are because I rarely will need speed with a STAB technician priority move anyway. I split them between HP and Def.
The Trapper: Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Timid, 252 Spe, 252 SpAtk, 6 Hp
images

- Hidden Power Fire
- Signal Beam
- Explosion
- Thunderbolt
Choice Scarf Magnezone. Scizor killed with Hidden Power Fire, Signal Beam is for a surprise 4x effective hit on Celebi. Explosion is for when this thing is low on health. Thunderbolt is there for STAB and coverage.
The Spinner: Tentacruel @ Leftovers
Bold, 252 Def, 126 Hp, 126 SpDef, 6 Spe.
images

- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
Tentacruel with a spin (no pun intended). My EV spreads tend to be custom on walls. Surf is there as a reliable STAB move. Ice Beam hits grass types and dragons that might switch in. Toxic Spikes hurts my opponents team, so I'll set it up given the chance. Rapid Spin gets rid of the Spikes that would otherwise harm my team. Bold with max defence so it can take some non special hits. Otherwise pouring into Hp and SpDef for survival.
The Sleeper: Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Jolly, 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 6 Hp
images

- Spore
- Substitute
- Seed Bomb
- Focus Punch
My favorite pokemon's best set, IMO. When the opponent sends in a counter, spore it, throw a sub up and focus punch away! 150 Base power plus STAB plus 130 Base attack hurts almost anything. Seed Bomb is why I chose Breloom: as a bulky water counter. It rips into Suicunes fragile defence and tears Swampert to pieces. Coupled with the fact that it heals 12.5% of its health each turn makes Breloom a monster. This counters so many OU pokemon it's not even funny. Spore just shuts down whatever touches it.
The Star of the Show: Weavile @ Lum Berry
Adamant, 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 6 Hp
images

- Swords Dance
- Brick Break
- Ice Punch
- Night Slash
This is the 'unique threat' I made. I don't think I've ever seen this set on Shoddy before. The goal is this: after its counters have been eliminated, switch in on something like Blissey. Swords dance while they either try to inflict status or switch, then sweep. Dark and Ice both give fantastic coverage while Brick Break kills those annoying steels. The Lum berry stops things like Blissey's TWave from stopping your fun.
Any comments? I will try to have the threat list up later.

Threat List

Threat List (taken from http://www.smogon.com/forums/showth...---------------------------------------------
Green means they are not a problem for me.
Orange means they can cause a bit of trouble.
Red means they are very difficult to take down.
Offensive Threats
Aerodactyl : Magnezone can Tbolt it but it can't come in safely
---
Alakazam : Scizor laughs at it
---
Azelf : Scizor punches it in the face
---
Breloom : Tentacruel can Ice Beam it and Scizor can bullet punch it but they don't like eating hits.
---
Dragonite : Weavile
---
Dugtrio : Scizor can bullet punch it with its good defences
---
Electivire : Aerodactyl can EQ it but not much else
---
Empoleon : Magnezone can trap and kill
---
Flygon : Weavile again!
---
Gengar : Scizor prey
---
Gyarados : I'm doubtful about magnezone outspeeding it, if it does then TBolt it.
---
Heatran : Areo EQs it no problem. Tentacruel is backup
---
Heracross : Scizor can take hits and Bullet Punch back
---
Infernape : MixApe is owned by Tentacruel, special sets are still owned by Tentacruel, anything else is prey to Aerodactyl
---
Jirachi : Magnezone traps this one, too
---
Jolteon : Best bet is for Scizor to slowly beat it up with Bullet Punch.
---
Kingdra : Breloom can sweep it but it might require sacrifce if it subs
---
Latias : Scizor
---
Lucario : Magnezone traps and kills
---
Machamp : Breloom can sleep it but RestTalk troubles my team
---
Magnezone: If Aero outspeeds, thats good. Otherwise Scizor better kill it with Superpower.
---
Mamoswine : Scizor
---
Metagross : Leads are beaten with EQ, Breloom can sleep the others.
---
Porygon-Z : It's so frail Bullet Punch rips into it.
---
Rhyperior : Tentacruel has surf for a reason
---
Salamence : DDMence can cause trouble, otherwise Tentacruel outspeeds and OHKOs with Ice beam.
---
Scizor : Magnezone traps and kills
---
Starmie : Yet another pokemon countered by CB Scizor
---
Togekiss : Magnezone can beat it up but it doesn't like ParaFlinch.
---
Tyranitar : LOL. Aero, Scizor, Tentecruel, Breloom and Weavile own this thing.
---
Weavile : Scizor prey
---
Yanmega : Tentacruel can Ice Beam and laughs off Yanmega's attacks. Hypnosis is troubling, though.

Defensive Threat List:

Blissey : Easy set up prey for Breloom
---
Bronzong : Trapped and killed with Magnezone
---
Celebi : If scizor doesn't kill it, magnezone will.
---
Cresselia : Typing 'Scizor' gets old after awhile.
---
Donphan : It really doesn't like Tenta's special attacks.
---
Forretress : Magnezone kills it easily
---
Gliscor : Tenta scares it with Ice Beam
---
Hippowdon : Seriously, Tenta owns this thing
---
Skarmory : Magnezone laughs.
---
Snorlax : Breloom can sleep it but it's hard to stop curselax
---
Suicune: Breloom owns this thing. Especially CroCune.
---
Swampert : It shall whimper in fear of the mighty Breloom!
---
Tentacruel : Aero hits hard with EQ and I can spin away it's toxic spikes.
---
Vaporeon : It really hates magnezone even though it isn't trapped.
---
Zapdos : This thing is tough. Weavile at best can revenge kill it.

Although Tentacruel provides a check for Mixnape, it really doesn't work as a counter, leaving your team pretty Nape weak. Aero would be the other one to handle it, but even it can't safely come in. Starmie is a rapid spinning answer to this problem.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Timid
Natural Cure
EVs: 136 HP/156 Def/216 Spd
-Rapid Spin
-Ice Beam
-Surf
-Recover

It not only can handle the threats mentioned above handled by Tenta, it can come in on Nape as a counter, taking <50% from CC and KOing with Surf, being able to recover off the damage.

The best counters for Jolteon and Zapdos I can think of is Jolteon itself, being able to fire a neutral T-bolt at Zapdos (Stronger than HP Ice by 2 bp) as well as absorb enemy Jolteons own thunderbolts. I can't really see where it would fit on your team, but it's late at night here. If you can find a spot go for it. I think it could replace Magnezone fairly well, as you would have Starmie who could come in on a locked Bullet Punch or SuperPower/Brick break and be able to spin on the switch or fire off a STAB Surf.

Thanks for you comment. There's no way I'm getting rid of 'Zone though. Instead of just forcing things out, it removes them from the battle. I'll think about Starmie though. Problem is it can't spike, leaving me with only SR.

I'd really suggest losing Magnezone too, it's going to be pretty ineffective outside of killing steels, and that's only really vital when you want to set up a CM Latias sweep or something.

Heatran would be a good replacement. It achieves the same goals and counters the same things as Magnezone (most of them better), as well as being more powerful. Scizor being a bit harder to deal with is really made up for by all of Heatran's advantages.
