Hi, this is my first RMT. I have made some competitive teams before, and have had OK success with them, but I feel I am not a good team builder. Maybe you could point out some flaws you may think I have with team building. Thanks in advance.
Garchomp-Mega @ Garchompite
Ability: Sand Force
EVs: 32 HP / 252 Atk / 224 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Stone Edge
Garchomp is my mega Pokémon and physical sweeper. It's EV's are for getting max damage as possible, while outspeeding base 101 speed Pokémon if they are neutral nature. The HP EV's are for bulk. I put earthquake and dragon claw for stab, and stone edge for a powerful move for Pokémon that resist it's stabs. Swords Dance is for if I get a free turn, I will get double attack and if sand is up get giant amounts of damage on every Pokémon.
Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Slack Off
- Whirlwind
Hippowdon is my defensive wall, while also being a great partner for Garchomp. With Garchomp having sand force, this helps him with him having a ground and rock move. The EV's are for physical bulk, and some special bulk as Hippowdon doesn't have good special defence. Earthquake and rock slide are for getting good damage on the opponent, slack off is for restoring HP and whirlwind is for Pokémon that try to set up on Hippowdon.
Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin
Starmie is my rapid spinner on the team, which I feel I need with Gyrados and spikes being annoying. Starmie is an offensive rapid spinner. The EV's are for outspeeding heaps of Pokémon while getting a lot of damage too. Surf is for reliable STAB, as I always seem to miss hydro pumps, ice beam and thunderbolt for great coverage.
Klefki @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Spikes
- Foul Play
Klefki is my own hazard setter and dual screens. The EV's are for bulk, so I can get my screens up and my spikes. Foul Play is my only attacking move and it works great because it uses your oppenents attack, so you don't need good attack EV's.
Gyarados @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
Gyarados is my second physical sweeper, and I love it as it can confuse the opponent on which mega Pokémon I will be using. The sitrus berry is there as I have no idea what to put on it. The EV's are to outspeed as many Pokémon as possible and get as much damage as possible. Subsitute works great with intimidate, especially on physical sweepers as they probably wont be able to break my sub. Dragon dance is there because it's a great setup moves for gyrados, waterfall for good STAB and earthquake for a strong attack.
Goodra @ Assault Vest
Ability: Gooey
EVs: 252 SAtk / 248 HP / 8 Def
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Flamethrower
Goodra is a special wall and a special sweeper. The assualt vest is for heaps of special defence. The EV's are there for getting as much damage as possible and HP and defence for bulk. Draco Meteor is there for getting huge hits on most Pokémon, the rest of the moves are for coverage.
I haven't had too many battles with this team, but I have had success with it. 2 battles and 2 wins.
