First RTM - Wi-fi Team

Good afternoon guys. This is my first RTM and I don´t have a perfect english so I apologize in advance if I have any kind of mistake.

This team doesn´t have any idea behind it. One day I just put it togheter to play on my Nintendo 3DS and it worked pretty well (hasn´t lost a single wi-fi battle yet) I´m open to here all your suggestions (please consider that I might have problems to get Pokebank moves) and I hope you enjoy the team.

AT A GLANCE

LANDORUS-T

645-therian.gif

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

This guy is my revenge killer and my lead 95% of the times. I love how often people lead with Greninja and stays in thinking the will outspeed me just get detroyed by U-turn. He makes a great Volt-Turn core with Rotom-W and he always allows me to get rid of annoying threats working alongside Gothitelle (I´ll explain more later). U-turn is the move I use 80% of the time and I only use the respective coverage moves on obvious switchs or cleaning in late game. His typing and his abilitie intimidate allows me to switch in certains physical threats, mostly fighting types lacking Ice punch or Ground types such as Donphan (Ice Shard does around 25%) and take the momentum of the battle. I know the Naive nature is prefered if I´m running HP Ice, but I haven´t been able to get my hands on a Naive one.

ROTOM-W

Rotom-w.gif

Rotom-Wash @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Rest

As you can see I run the standard Chesto-Resto physical bulky set. This guy is a pretty important part of my team, allowing me to chech a lot of common threats such as Talonflame, Greninja, Azumarril and pretty much every physical attacker lacking Mold breaker-Earthquake or a Grass type move. As I said before he makes a great Volt-turn core with Landorus covering each others weaknesses. Volt switch is the preferred move, but when I see a Manetric, Jolteon or Thundurus-T on the other team always go with Hydro pump or Will-o-wisp to cripple them.

CHARIZARD X

mega_charizard_x_by_theangryaron-d6oy3du.png

Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 HP / 80 SDef / 176 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Claw
- Roost

This is by far my preffered Mega poke because his set is very unexpected and thanks to that he is able to beat a lot of pokes that otherwise he wouldn´t be able to beat. The speed investment is enough to outspeed Lucario after he megaevolves. The remaining EV´s are used to maximize his bulk. Flare blitz and Dragon Claw are mandatory STAB moves and they hit pretty hard even with the lack of investment in attack thanks to Tough Claws. Roost is there for reliable recovery. Will-o-wisp is in my opinion the key of the set due his crippling abilities and being so unexpected; I have burned Azumarrills on the switch uncontable times, and after they are burned, MegaZard beat them on the 1 vs 1 pretty easily. He provides me good resistances to fire and grass type moves and being neutral to electric and water moves give him a lot of opportunities, for example he is able to beat Rotom-w in 1 vs 1. I always try to megaevolve as fast as I can to limit the Stealth rock damage.

GOTHITELLE

Gothitelle_NB.gif

Gothitelle @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 12 HP / 252 SAtk / 244 Spd
Timid Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 Def
- Hidden Power
- Psychic
- Grass Knot
- Thunderbolt

She provides a very important and simple role to the team: destroy annoying things. Thanks to the Volt-turn core of Rotom-w and Landorus, she can do her job pretty easily because the opponent isn´t able to predict her switch. For example this kind of situation happens all the time: Landorus is out and my opponent has a Tyranitar, he swicth to something to take the earthquake, let´s say Donphan, I u-turn and bring her, Donphan is dead, now my opponent doesn´t have a Rapid spinner. When her job is done I reserve her to take a hit in the future and provide me with a clen switch in. The EV´s spread allows her to outspedd 120 base speed pokes, being her maximun goal because even with 252 EV in speed she isn´t able to outspeed other pokes such as Greninja and Noivern. I considered Trick but I am not able to get it without the Gen 5 move tutor, and erasing any of my coverage moves would hurt a little bit because I´ve used all of them.

MAMOSWINE

Mamoswine_NB_hembra.gif

Mamoswine @ Focus Sash
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake

His role is very important because he is the one that provides hazards to the team in form of stealth rocks. He leads when I see Talonflames, Charizards, Vivillon or pokes like that on the other team. I focus sash to get stealth rocks up no matter what. Often, I don´t use him until my Gothitelle have killed the enemy rapid spinner/defogger and the reason is that I don´t have a spin blocker, then I always try to be sure that the rocks will stay in the field. He also provides my team with some revenge killing abilitie, allowing me to take down pokes with a low amount of life and common dragons and grass types such as Dragonite, Breloom, Salamence, etc.

EXCADRILL

Excadrill_NB.gif

Excadrill @ Air Balloon
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Toxic
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Rock Slide

He is the rapid spiner of the team. His main job is to keep the field clear of hazard until Charizard is able to mega evolve. Once I´ve killed the evemy hazard provider, Excadrill becomes an usefull poke to check some things. For example while Charizard is unevolved, he is my main answer to Rotom-W thanks to Mold breaker, he is also a good answer against other pokes such as Garchomp lacking Fire blast thanks to the air balloon. I prefer toxic over shadow claw as a surprise factor, toxic allows me to cripple things like Mandibuzz on the switch.

So far the biggest problem I´ve faced was a choice specs Latios, my plan is sacrifice something and then trap him with Gothitelle while he is at -2. I would love to hear your suggestions and hopefully you will help me to identify another threats to my team. I really hope you enjoy. Have a good day

This a pretty solid team! I dont see why Specs latios is such a problem, considering out Landorus and Mamoswine both outspeed, and can either kill with U-Turn or Ice Shard. Especially Landorus, since not only does U-Turn have a high chance of killing, you can also gain momentum if he switches out, by countering his switch.

I definetely see somethinlike Mega Gyarados being a problem, seeing how after one Dragon Dance it runs through your team. Your moves to hit it super effectively are U-Turn from Landorus-T, and T-Bolt from Gothitelle.

Assuming that you switch in on Gyarados and intimidate him.
252 Atk Landorus-T U-turn vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Gyarados: 156-184 (46.9 - 55.4%) -- 71.9% chance to 2HKO

Assuming that Gyarados switches in on you, Intimidates, then Megas.

-1 252 Atk Landorus-T U-turn vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Gyarados: 102-122 (30.7 - 36.7%) -- 67% chance to 3HKO

And if you U-Turn out into Gothitelle
252 SpA Gothitelle Thunderbolt vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Gyarados: 126-150 (37.9 - 45.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Its not Impossible for you to defeat Mega Gyarados, but it definetely requires alot of smart playing with Landorus and Gothitelle, and trying to keep coming in to get the intimidate drops. If it comes in on Gothitelle choice locked into anything besides T-Bolt, it can set up a DD, set up another one as you come in with Landorus and U Turn out. But if theres Stealth Rocks on the field, count it a GG, as you'll have to switch in one time after switching out of Gothitelle. And then come back in to U-Turn again. This might be hard to picture, so here goes.

You revenge kill something with Gothitelle with non T-Bolt move.
Gyarados comes in, MEVOs, sets up a DD

You switch out into Landorus-T, intimidate drop, and the U-Turn out.
Gyarados DDs again.

At this point Gyarados is at +1 ATK, and +2 SPEED. It will kill something. Rotom-W levitate is negated by Mold breaker, Gothitelle is destroyed by Bite or Waterfall, If theres rocks up, the most Mamoswine can do is Ice Shard. Excadrill will explode. As for Char X

+1 252 Atk Mold Breaker Mega Gyarados Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Charizard X: 340-402 (94.4 - 111.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

If theres Stealth Rocks up, your Landorus just took a solid 12% away, and when it comes back in, another 12% is going. And it will outspeed you, and even though itll effectively be neutral, heres the calcs for a neutral Waterfall

252 Atk Mold Breaker Mega Gyarados Waterfall vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Landorus-T: 326-386 (101.8 - 120.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO. Even without Stealth Rocks.

Of course I neglected to do Stealth Rock calculations for the gyarados player, but even if it does come into Stealth Rocks, it still has a solid 75% left, which can eat up at least one U-Turn or Thunderbolt.

I would therefore suggest a few solutions to deal with this problem.

1. Keep off Stealth Rocks at all costs. This allows you to pretty much keep your Sash, so you can do alot to Mega Gyara with a Mamoswine EQ. Also have a small chance of living with Zard X, which will be critical.

2. Keep Gothitelle usage to a minimum, its basically going to be Set Up fodder.

3.Run Superpower over Hidden Power.

252 Atk Landorus-T Superpower vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Gyarados: 264-312 (79.5 - 93.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Basically a kill after factoring in SR.

Thanks for the rate aPandaCub. I haven´t faced a Gyarados and that is why I didn´t see him as a threat. After reading your analysis I´m convinced about the danger he represent to my team. Definitely going to try out the Superpower suggestion because it seems like a good solution and I don´t really use HP ICE that much.
