This is my first attempt at a competitive team for the metagame. This is probably fairly obvious, as I'm mostly rock'n base sets from this site.

dpmba053.png

Persian (F) @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Fake Out
- U-turn
- Hypnosis
- Return
---
Fake Out and U-turn used for free damage and to scout starters. Knock off is occasionally helpful, and Hypnosis is basically never used. I find her to be a real asset to the team. The ability to switch in on pokes and cause a good amount of damage without getting hurt is wonderful. She is also my only good response to Hypno.

Don't like the Life Orb though, having a death timer seems to ruin the spirit of her. Not sure what to replace with, Leftovers I guess.

Tried it with Return, hit's much harder then I ever expected. Loving it.

dpmba334.png

Altaria @ Life Orb
Mild - Natural Cure
112 Atk / 252 SpA / 144 Spe
-Draco Meteor
-Fire Blast
-Outrage
-Roost
---
Haven't gotten much time to test, not sure if I like it.

dpmba277.png

Swellow @ Toxic Orb
Jolly - Guts
4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe
- Facade
- Pursuit
- Quick Attack
- U-Turn

---
I prefer to use the Band over an Orb because people don't expect it as much. This thing hits hard with BB but doesn't have much functionality. Pursuit and U-turn loose some use when you're locked in on moves, so I'm considering moving to an Orb set.

Like this much better. And happy to get rid of the annoying U-Turn Choice bug.

dpmba034.png

Nidoking @ Leftovers
Modest - Poison Point
204 Spe / 252 SpA / 52 HP
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Dark]
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

---
Started using the set Legacy suggested, and I realized that I never really used Superpower, and that it was my only physical. So I switched it for HP Dark, which helps a ton with my annoying Ghost weakness. Took EVs in speed to beat some common UU threats, beating Hypno.

Octillery (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spe/252 SpA
Modest nature (+SpA, -Atk)
- Energy Ball
- Fire Blast
- Ice Beam
- Surf
---
Switched Hitmolee out, sure he hit hard, but he died and his type coverage wasn't as helpful. This guy hits real hard.

dpmba139.png

Omastar (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Surf
- Protect
---
This is my favorite member of the team next to Persian. I throw SR down on a switch then Spikes down the next turn. Surf is there incase of Taunt and Protect is mostly just filler. This girl will take a hit better then most of the team too, so she's neat to switch in.

Hey there.

Try replacing Life Orb on your Persian to a Silk Scarf, and Knock Off to Return. It does make you vulnerable to Ghost types, but with a Silk Scarf Fake Out + Return you can KO many opposing frail sweepers such Ninetales, Primeape and Hitmonlee. Since you don't take any recoil damage, you can keep coming in and hitting these frail opponents again and again without fear.

The joys of using a Persian + Swellow combination is being able to U-Turn into Swellow to activate the Orb. You're really not making the most of the combination's potential if you're using CB Swellow. Try the following Swellow set:

Swellow @ Toxic Orb
Jolly - Guts
4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe
- Facade
- Brave Bird
- Quick Attack
- U-Turn

Quick Attack becomes extremely powerful with Guts, but if you prefer Pursuit then you can run it over that. You don't need Protect on the set because you can just U-Turn from Persian to Swellow to activate the orb at the end of the turn.

If you want to use a mixed sweeper Nidoking, I would recommend you use:

Nidoking @ Life Orb
Rash - Poison Point
200 Atk / 252 SpA / 52 Spe
- Earth Power
- Superpower
- Ice Beam
- Crunch / Thunderbolt

An Earth Power from this Nidoking will OHKO most opposing Steels (Steelix, Probopass, Aggron), allowing your Swellow to sweep unhindered. Superpower + Earth Power takes out Clefable, making this Nidoking an excellent wall breaker. Adding this to your team will help swellow sweep a lot easier.

Take Rapid Spin off Hitmonlee and give it Blaze Kick in the last slot to help you deal with Grass/Poison types like Venusaur.

Your team is very Ice weak, and you need a better Rapid Spinner than Hitmonlee. I personally would put a Blastoise with Rapid Spin over Omastar in the last slot, but that means that you will have not Stealth Rock on your team unless you make major replacements elsewhere. A possible replacement for the last slot could be Torkoal, who can serve as a SR set upp-er, a Rapid Spinner, and as a nice Ice resistance.

Good luck with your team.

LR.

I recommend

Swellow @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly
- Facade
- Quick Attack
- Pursuit
- U-turn

Normal and Flying have redundant coverage. Rotom is a common switch into Swellow, so you won't be hitting him much harder with Brave Bird anyways (resisted Brave Bird deals 90 while Pursuit deals 80 without a switch). Pursuit does ~80% to the standard Rotom while switching IIRC.

dpmba053.png

Persian (F) @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Technician

- Fake Out
- U-turn
- Hypnosis / Taunt
- Return
---

Return over Knock Off so you can do some hurt. Silk Scarf provides power but doesn't have recoil. Consider Taunt to mess up setup leads.

dpmba334.png

Altaria (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/200 Def/56 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Roost
- Toxic
- Flamethrower
- Dragon Pulse
---
The best wall I have, even though it's not great. Roost is an obvious pick, with Flamethrower and DP there to do some damage. Toxic seems pretty useless. I don't like him, I want to replace him with a true wall, not something stuck inbetween.

If you want to run Altaria, I recommend this set:

Altaria @ Life Orb
Mild - Natural Cure
112 Atk / 252 SpA / 144 Spe
-Draco Meteor
-Fire Blast
-Outrage
-Roost

This guy can switch into resisted attacks almost just as easily with Roost, but also clears walls for your other sweepers. :toast: Natural Cure and Roost together allow you to switch in repeatedly to fire off Draco Meteors. Not much in UU can take a Draco Meteor followed by an Outrage. Fire Blast for coverage.
dpmba277.png

Swellow (F) @ Choice Band
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Facade
- Pursuit
- U-turn
---

Use the set that Legacy Raider suggested.

dpmba034.png

Nidoking (M) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Poison Point
EVs: 200 HP/56 Spd/252 SAtk
Serious nature
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Thunderpunch
- Ice Beam
---
Attempting to break the Nidoking mold a bit. Haven't given him much of a try but I like the idea of a bulky Nido. Anyone have an experience with one of these?

Meh. Nidoking still isn't taking many hits unless you go full-out defense. If you're looking for a defensive Nido, try Nidoqueen who will give your team some bulk.

Nidoqueen @ Leftovers
Impish - Poison Point
252 HP / 96 Atk / 160 Def
-Rest
-Sleep Talk
-Earthquake
-Roar

Works nicely with the Spikes set up by Omastar. You could always just drop Sleep Talk+Rest and add Stone Edge and Crunch/Protect/Filler.
dpmba106.png

Hitmonlee (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Limber
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/6 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Rapid Spin
---
Rapid Spin is the only thing that stands out on this set. With double U-Turns and 2 weak pokes, I'm in serious need on a spinner. And maybe it's just me but I don't see many ghosts in UU. I run the Scarf to make sure I get the hit always, as it will usually one hit.

May I suggest a defensive TechTop? It serves similar revenge-killing but can help with defense.

Hitmontop @ Leftovers
Impish - Intimidate/Technician (it depends on Power>Defense)
252 HP / 184 Atk / 72 Def
-Mach Punch
-Stone Edge
-Rapid Spin
-Toxic
dpmba139.png

Omastar (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Surf
- Protect
---

Earthquake is better than Roost on Altaria. On this team, you already have plenty of defensive Pokemon, and you might want another hard-hitting sweeper. Also, Earthquake provides the best coverage in that set with your team. Your team is entirely walled by Lanturn, so Earthquake can hit it and other Electric-types.

Why would you run speed on Octillery? It really isn't outrunning much anyway except walls so it would probably benefit you to run 252 HP 252 SPA Modest so it can take a hit with those average defenses.
