First Serious Try at UU

This is my first try at the UU tier and I put this team together in a bit of a rush. It seems fine, but the fighting weak seems a bit obnoxious even though I can usually play around it for some reason. All constructive criticism is appreciated.

swellow.png

Swellow @ Toxic Orb
Jolly Nature - Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 6 HP

-Facade
-Brave Bird
-U-Turn
-Protect

Pretty standard lead swellow. Protect to scout my opponents lead pokemon and activating my Toxic Orb if desired. Although I am thinking of Pursuit or Quick Attack, but I am leaving protect on here for now.

Probopass.png

Probopass @ Leftovers

Calm Nature - Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 HP / 168 SpD / 88 Spe

-Magnet Rise
-Taunt
-Earth Power
-Power Gem

Here to kill Steels for my team. Mainly comes in when I U-Turn into a Steel with swellow. Also my best Ninetails counter on this team. Rock and Steel aren't great defensively so I need to use Magnet Rise to not be KO'd by an Earthquake. Pretty standard. Taunt to stop Roar.
clefable.png

Clefable @ Leftovers
Calm Nature - Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Def / 6 Spe / 100 SpD

-Seismic Toss
-Toxic
-Encore
-Softboiled

Here to stall out most walls or force them to switch out. Magic Guard makes me invincible to SubSeeders and things like Toxic Spikes. I choose Toxic over Thunder Wave because most of my team doesn't have a problem with speed.

claydol.png

Claydol @ Leftovers
Relaxed Nature - Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 140 Def / 116 SAtk

- Earth Power
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam
- Psychic

After all of my options for Claydol, I decided this was the best offering the most coverage out of all the sets that I saw available. Counters Fighting types which otherwise spell trouble for my team.

manectric.png

Manectric @ Life Orb
Naive Nature - Static
EVs: 252 SpA / 220 Spe / 36 Atk

-Crunch
-Flamethrower
-HP Grass
-Thunderbolt

My wall breaker. Handles Grumpig and Hypno with Crunch and everything else with Flamethrower, HP Grass and Thunderbolt. I originally had SubPetaya here but I was tired of switching him out and losing the Petaya activation. Life Orb sorta helps that.

hitmonlee.png

Hitmonlee @ Life Orb
Jolly Nature - Limber
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 6 SpD

-Close Combat
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Mach Punch

The other physical sweeper on my team. Deals with all threats weak to fighting. Sweeps when its main counters like Claydol and Nidoqueen are down, usually due to Clefable. Mach Punch for revenge killing if I ever need it because my team lacks a priority move otherwise. Limber means I can switch into Thunder Wave which is pretty important.

Sorry about that, my descriptions are usually better, except I seem to be void of any sort of linear thought today.

Thoughts:

-I am thinking of switching in Aggron for a Probopass so that Swellow can U-Turn into Probopass if a Steel type shows up.

I agree with your Probopass switch. Swellow leads can be effective, but it is horribly countered by the most popular pokemon in UU, Steelix. U-Turning to a trapping Probopass can free up a lot of room for Swellow to wreck havok. Also, it provides a special wall, something clefable could use help with.

If you want more special attacks on your team, Nidoqueen can effectively run Earth Power and Ice Beam, which provide good coverage. However, you can run Claydol to provide the same fighting resistence and the ability to spin/counter Steelix.

I agree with Vrolok, change Queen with Claydol since your team is extremely Scarf Lee weak. Use this move set I created:

344.png

Claydol @ Leftovers
EVs: 244 HP / 72 Atk / 184 Def / 8 Sp.Def
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spe)
- Earth Power
- Zen Headbutt
- Rapid Spin
- Explosion

It hit's the Fighters on their weak spot with Zen Headbutt and his Explosions are pretty strong. Earth Power is there so you can take Steelix better.

You should give Clefable Wish over Softboiled, Toxic or Encore since your other Walls have no way of healing outside of Leftovers.

I still got a bit to say, but I'll do it later. I hope I helped and good luck with the team

While I agree with the sentiment of changing the Nidoqueen to Claydol, I don't think that the set Muntz described is the best for the job. Claydol will be your ONLY counter to the many fighting types of UU. You need him to be able to do his job over and over again, otherwise you're likely to be swept. The following Claydol is far more suited to the team you're trying to play with.

Claydol @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 Sp.Def
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam

Rest and Sleep Talk allow this to be your permanent stop to Hitmonlee and the rest of the UU fighters. Without a form of healing, Claydol will be hardpressed to take repeated switch-ins and Close Combats from them. With it, it can take hits all day. The added Special Defense allows you to take Ninetales better, as without the Special Defense, you will be killed with +2 LO Energy Ball if you're under 80% (the amount of damage a Close Combat would do if you were using Muntz's set). The loss of Stealth Rock and the lack of Rapid Spin is regretable, but it's largely offset by the inclusion of some solid defense on this team.

-----------------------

I would agree with using Probopass over Aggron on this particular team. Not only will Probopass allow you to take out opposing Steelix, but it is a better special wall than Aggron and helps you with a rather large Ninetales problem you've developed for yourself. Using an adapted version of the "Special Wall" set in the analysis is the way to go.

Probopass @ Leftovers
Calm Nature (+SpD,-Atk)
EVs: 252 HP / 168 SpD / 88 Spe
-Magnet Rise
-Taunt
-Earth Power
-Power Gem

This lets protects you from opposing Ninetales, as well as traps and kills Steelix and other Steel types plaguing your Swellow sweep. The loss in power from the Steel killing set is negligable as this will still kill them, just a turn or two slower. It is best to not predict with this set as most would have you believe. Always Magnet Rising the first turn you come in is a must. Attempting to predict against the Steelix user will generally end up in a dead Probopass for you. Taunt after the Magnet Rise to prevent Roar, and proceed to kill the opponent's Steel type. Power Gem is there for Ninetales mainly, however if you really want, you can change it to Flash Cannon in order to hit the ever common Claydol harder.

------------------------

Put Toxic Orb over Burn Orb on your Swellow. It's better over two turns and equal on the third. Any time your Swellow is in for more than three turns, it is likely already sweeping the opponent's team and the extra damage is negligable. It's not much, but that extra 6% every time you switch him in adds up and eventually prevents Swellow from sweeping. It also helps him be your anti-trick Pokemon as most Trick abusers are of the Special variety and won't mind the Burn but hate the Bad Poisoning.

------------------------

The Petaya Berry set on Manectric is far more easily walled than the Life Orb all out sweeper set. If you want Manectric's time sweeping to be made easier, then switch it to the following.

Manectric @ Life Orb
Naive Nature (+Spe,-SpD)
EVs: 32 Atk / 252 SpA / 220 Spe
-Crunch
-Flamethrower
-HP Grass
-Thunderbolt

This doesn't have the problem of being walled by Hypno and Grumpig like your current set does. It also provides an immediate power boost at full heatlh rather than having to be at 25% health before you are powerful enough for a sweep. This fact alone makes it more valuable considering the popularity of Hitmontop for priority moves.

----------------------------

Any other changes would be strictly personal choices. You could go Sucker Punch over Mach Punch on your Hitmonlee which in my personal experience gives you a better chance of sweeping... hitting opposing Pokemon harder than a neutral Mach Punch. You could also run Cosmic Power / Fire Blast over Encore / Seismic Toss if you prefer a more stall oriented Clefable. However, neither of these changes is really necessary.

That's why I told him to make his Clefable a Wish Passer. Zen Headbutt is a great move on Claydol since it helps with Fighters and you can't really hurt Top with Earth Power since it's pretty bulky. Tops are running Pursuit more now and I think that Zen Headbutt would be great. Here's a set that is both of ours compined and it should work well:

344.png

Claydol @ Leftovers
EVs: 244 HP / 72 Atk / 184 Def / 8 Sp.Def
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spe)
- Earth Power
- Zen Headbutt
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Or you could just use my one since I told you to get Wish support which will help with Probopass to.

I agree with LonelyNess about the other two things. Use the MixTric and Toxic Orb on Swellow.

Call me Joseph by the way. I requested one of the Mods to change my name to Joseph M, but they haven't yet :(

Claydol doesn't have impressive offensive stats, so to split up EV's in that department isn't worth the coverage. Why not use Psychic?

And to the OP, LonelyNess gives great advice, be sure to consider it!

OK, is stealth rock not that big of a deal then? As it seems like you are all leaving it out of your sets for Claydol

Definite Psychic on Claydol, don't gamble your chances to actually defeat UU Fighters. What I would recommend;

Claydol @ Leftovers ***
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 140 Def / 116 SAtk
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Earth Power
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam
- Psychic

Straight from my RMT, this Claydol is the one I use on all my teams that have a Claydol. Why so much Special Attack EVs? Because it's the only way to ensure of KO's, and with those EVs you can hit Clefable for about 30% damage, more if you get the Special Def drop. Zen Headbutt can work, but you're better off with Psychic as you can't afford to Split EVs into both Attacks, and Claydol has much better Special Attack options than Physical. So Claydol over Nidoqueen should be the best thing here. Keep Mach punch on Hitmonlee, Sucker Punch it's not really worth it on Hitmonlee, as its not as bulky as Hitmontop, and Mach Punch can save your ass when it comes down to who hits faster.

This is a pretty good UU team for a starter. If you really want Stealth Rocks, replacing Encore with Stealth Rocks on Clefable works.

This isn't really a rate, I just wanted to get that Claydol thing straight.

OK, thank you, I like your Claydol the best because my team is really hurting for some more special attackers. Thank you, but if I decide that RestTalking is needed I may switch to that.

i think stealth rock claydol is an option many UU pokes use focus sash

i notice many people leave it out i find it very useful sometimes

I have a Stealth Rock Claydol on my team and it does a great job. However, that doesn't mean it'll do a great job here.
Now, about the team. It looks like a really great team and I don't see any glaring weaknesses. I especially like the way you use Probopass.
