Hello everyone! first time posting long time lurking. I have always wanted the competitive scene, and with sword and shield out I thought to myself Wynaut? I have not a lot of experience battling... the fact is that my irst matches was to test this team and showcase it. XD This is what I got.
*EDIT* The team has changed quite a bit since the last time, at the bottom you will see the changes!
Dragapult @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
Ah yes,our new celebrity. From the moment I saw this, I knew I wanted to have it for my first ever team. He is, I guess, a mon I sent out late game with the hopes to eliminate what is left. I went special because the coverage is just too good, and with his decent special attack I know he can do well. For the most part, I am able to utulize him for thispurpose, however oposing Dragapult kinda kill me, badly.
Darmanitan-Galar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Gorilla Tactics
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Icicle Crash
- Earthquake
- U-turn
Destroys everything in its path with his high physical stat and great speed when adding scarf. I have two job for this mon, the first is to send him out first and u-turn out for a better early game match up, second, just attack and get ko's. This mon has been working great for me, except that rocks can be a bit of a problem, especially since I don't really have a way to remove them.
Dracovish @ Choice Band
Ability: Strong Jaw
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Fishious Rend
- Psychic Fangs
- Crunch
- Low Kick
This set comes directly from a smogon page analysison him, and I am in love with him. This mon looks super quirky, and I want to have multiple of him. However, his speed can sometimes hinder hisperformance, and he can get ko relatively fast. I understand that I may just not be using him well,I have been considering changing to barraskewda, but I am not sure. I use Dracovish as also a toxapex check and a very bad ferrothorn check.
Centiskorch @ Assault Vest
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpA
Mild Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Flamethrower
- Knock Off
- Scald
My surprise mon, which is also extremely bad agaist rocks. He is supposed to knock off annoying mons like corsola, or special attackers, while also dealing with ferrothorns very effectively. He can double as a potential rain setter whenever dynamaxed, providing extra power to dracovish whenever plausible. Futheremore, scald has a potential to burn, which can work well whenever I send one of my walls. Speaking of which
Corsola-Galar @ Eviolite
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Night Shade
- Strength Sap
- Will-O-Wisp
I guess that my favorite mon is still not the greatest, in my hands at least. I went with the suggested spread that showdown gave me, and I have to say, it has not been helpful at all. I will try to make it more physically defensive, and test my luck there. The idea is that I can set up rocks, hinder physical attackers, and have enough vitality and endurance that no matter how hard you hit, I will just heal everything with sap. I really want to keep this mon, since I have loved it since Johtho anime.
Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Body Press
- Brave Bird
- Bulk Up
- Roost
The master of the moves that start with B. Whenever I decide that centi should not dynamax, I use this bird in order to set up. Having bulk up and body press is simply amazing, bravebird for attacks and roost for recovery. He is able to take on many hits, set up and potentially sweep. However, lately bulk up has become more of a dynamic than something very useful. The reason it is impish is because I just enjoy it more? It was more succesful than the careful spread on my end.
Here is my first team, has a lot of questionable decisions, and have a lot of room for improvement. Rightof the bat, I can say that centiskorch is not the best candidate to stay, and corsola needs to be tested with a more physical defense distribution. I would love to keep the mons that are new to the game, 81 new mons should beable to do this well. What are your thoughts? Any suggestions? Thank you for vissitingthe mess I call my team!
Changes:
Centiskorch got replaced by:
Rotom-Heat @ Assault Vest
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overheat
- Discharge
- Volt Switch
- Dark Pulse
Centiskorch was really fun to have, using Knock off and special moves really confused people and to be honest I loved it. However, it felt very lackluster. He was't tanky, he wasn't getting KO's and he simply let mons be able to set up freely. This is why he was changed into Rotom Heat. I still think that having a fire type is good, and one immune to ground seemed perfect (Although I kinda hate its not a new mon...) volt switch is to scout, over heat is mandatory, but it deals with ferrothorn really well. Discharge is my power move, and dark pulse is for coverage that I enjoy. He has the assault vest so that I can focus on him dealing more damage over all, however, this might change for max hp, I don't know how that would work tho. I am liking the way he is working for now.
Dracovish, my favorite mon this gen by far, was simply not doing it for me. I will still shiny hunt him tho, and I will love him forever, but he was changed for:
Barraskewda @ Choice Band
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Psychic Fangs
Dynamaxing this mon is so fun. His coverage is amazing, and toxapex isn't that much of an issue. His peed is amazing on it's own that I don't feel he needs Jolly. This fish is quirky looking which is another plus, but the real reason for him is that I needed a mon that can be independent from the team. With his speed ans attack I can send it out safely to destroy. For the most part he is my dynamax mon, and I love it.
Now, corsola was touched:
Corsola-Galar @ Eviolite
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Night Shade
- Stealth Rock
- Strength Sap
There is not a lot to say here, the ev spread and nature just work better for the team. I am able to tank hits better and truly make a damp on physical attackers. Will o wisp is amazing to aid the set, and strength sap is a godsend with this built. I have to worry for knock off, yeah, but I have rarely seen it on mons. So far Crawdunt and Obstagoon I have seen consistently.
Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Defog
- Roost
- Brave Bird
- Body Press
I don't like this set much, but it has been working slightly better than the last version. Someone please help me improve on this mon. I already had three mons capable of destroying, so I thought making more of a wall was the way to go, I don't know what else to do here. I should maybe find a replacement, but I like him a lot and really want to keep him.
