ORAS LC First team!

This is my first LC team, so there are definitely holes that need to be patched.

Wynaut @ Focus Sash
Ability: Shadow Tag
Level: 5
EVs: 84 Def / 212 SpD
Calm Nature
- Mirror Coat
- Encore
- Destiny Bond
- Counter

Wynaut serves as a one-threat remover, essentially. Its chief role is to swap into a set-up sweeper and counter coat for the kill. Focus Sash is used in place of eviolite because A) it can guaranteed take a hit from anything, and B) I found that i was one-shot too much with eviolite.

Scraggy @ Eviolite
Ability: Moxie
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 60 SpD / 212 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- High Jump Kick
- Crunch
- Drain Punch

Scraggy is basically your standard set-up sweeper for the team. Set up a DD, and moxie boosts allow you to sweep most of the competition, with DP for recovery. Not much to say here, it's pretty standard IMO.

Tentacool @ Berry Juice
Ability: Liquid Ooze
Level: 5
EVs: 196 HP / 76 Def / 200 SpD / 36 Spe
Calm Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Sludge Bomb
- Scald
- Toxic Spikes

Tentacool is the spinner of the team, lending loads of survivability to Larvesta. TS is there for extra hazards, Sludge Bomb and Scald for either removing spin-blockers or debilitating sweepers, and Liquid ooze is mainly to counter leech seed and other draining moves, leech seed in particular single-handedly debilitating Wynaut and Dwebble.

Dwebble @ Berry Juice
Ability: Sturdy
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 36 Def / 236 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Rock Blast
- Knock Off

Dwebble is the suicide lead/hazard setter. Sturdy-berry juice almost guarantee hazards (with the exception of Leech seed and multi-hit moves, LS is countered by tentacool). The other two moves simply serve to lend it a small amount of attacking power, and to make sure it isn't complete Taunt fodder.

Larvesta @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flame Body
Level: 5
EVs: 76 HP / 236 Atk / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Wild Charge
- Zen Headbutt

Larvesta is the revenge killer. Choice scarf allows it to outspeed most of the tier unboosted, and U-turn provides pivot possibility while the other moves aim to dent the opponent until they bring out a counter.
While Larvesta has a massive weakness to SR, Tentacool is the solution to that.

Voltorb @ Eviolite
Ability: Static
Level: 5
EVs: 236 SpA / 76 SpD / 196 Spe
Timid Nature
- Charge Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Magnet Rise
- Volt Switch

Well, lets be honest. I don't really know what this is for. I honestly should replace this with something, so if you guys have ideas for it, i would gladly accept it. He doesn't really do much.

Hello there pretzel987

Your team looks rather fun and has some rarer pokemon on it, such as Tentacool, however it is held back by some of your choices.

Gothita @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Shadow Tag
Level: 5
EVs: 36 Def / 236 SpA / 236 Spe
Modest Nature
- Trick
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt
- Energy Ball

Wynaut is not actually all that viable; a better trapper would be Diglett or Gothita, while a better straight up Revenge Killer would be Fletchling. Because of Scraggy, I'm going to recommend Scarf Gothita over Wynaut as it revenge kills quite a few pokemon that threaten Scraggy quite nicely while still being able to revenge kill a fair number of sweepers. Gothita also takes a good advantage of Hazard Stack as most of what it forces in do not have recovery. Gothita also is not forced to take hits to do its job and can cripple walls better for Scraggy. Just be wary of Pawniard and Stunky.

archen.png

Archen
Ability: Defeatist
Level: 5
EVs: 76 HP / 20 Atk / 156 Def / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Roost
- Acrobatics
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

Another issue for your team is how you deal with Fletchling. Voltorb to itemless Archen; Voltorb is much too frail to be of much help here, while itemless Archen easily walls Fletchling and many other threats while avoiding Diglett. Archen does 2 things here: it's a wallbreaker for Scraggy and it checks Fletchling for your team. I chose itemless since it lends to have a better longevity than Berry Juice and has more power out of the gate. If you really want, you can put Berry Juice as an item for even more longevity, but I'm not quite sure that is the best choice. Archen also alleviates some of your Drilbur weakness, which is of course nice, and gives you a way to really threaten Stunky, Larvesta, and Timburr throughout the match.

ponyta.png

Ponyta @ Eviolite
Ability: Flame Body
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Def / 76 SpD / 196 Spe
Timid Nature / Bold Nature
- Sunny Day
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Morning Sun

My last suggested change of pokemon will be Larvesta to Ponyta. The higher speed allows it to really hurt key threats with being Choice locked and this still provides Flame Body and a blanket fighter check with more recovery and less weakness to rocks. Ponyta also can check Pawniard which is a rampant threat to your team, so this change is necessary in my opinion. This Ponyta set is also a great lure and supports itself rather nicely. The nature is really your preference, you can even go Modest if you want though I doubt that impacts much in the way of netting KOes and 2HKOes.

Next there are three things I want to make edits of for you. Dwebble's EVs should be 236 Atk / 236 Spe with a Jolly Nature. This allows it to speed creep a small section of the metagame and have more hazards up. Next, Knock Off > Crunch on Scraggy needs to happen as this weakens its own counters and actually has a high Base Power. Once Knock Off is used, all the other moves Scraggy has will do more damage too. Dual Chop on Scraggy to allow it to get past Abra if Abra becomes an issue, but this weakens its longevity; this may or may not be a good choice for you.

Cheers!

Hi there, pretzel987!

In addition to Fiend Hound's suggested changes, I have a few recommendations of my own to add here. He hit all the main points, but I'm going to point out some changes to Scraggy that will further optimize your team's performance.

scraggy.gif

Scraggy @ Eviolite
Ability: Moxie -> Shed Skin
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 60 SpD / 212 Spe -> 36 HP / 156 Atk / 36 Def / 36 SpD / 212 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- High Jump Kick / Dual Chop

I'd like to suggest these changes to Scraggy's set. Most importantly, there's no reason to run 60 EVs in Special Defense for one extra stat point when running 36 each in Defense and Special Defense will provide a point in both. The reason this fix is so crucial is that both defenses hit 14, an Eviolite number that lets Scraggy get the most out of Eviolite's boosts without the need to settle for rounded down numbers. You lose one point in Attack with this change, but you don't miss out on any important KOs, so the trade-off works. Secondly, I suggest using Shed Skin over Moxie here for two reasons: Scraggy is able to boost its own offensive power by way of Dragon Dance anyway, and the 51% chance of healing troublesome status conditions over the course of two turns with Shed Skin can be vital in assuring that Scraggy's sweep isn't ruined by sleep, burn, or paralysis.

Fiend Hound's changes in consideration, the team looks solid other than that! I wish you luck and success in the future with it!
