First Team

This is my first time trying to design a team built for the metagame and online play. Originally i just wanted a team to battle friends but decided i may go for online. Pretty much, i took pokemon i liked and were effective [ i hope ] so here this goes.

Opener
  • Zapdos-Choice Scarf
Timid
4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power Ice/grass ??
-U-turn

-Thunder Wave

I Had a really hard time choosing a lead that I liked because its decides so much of the battle off the bat. Zapdos outspeeds many starters and can U-turn on those he doesn’t feel comfortable starting off against. Im not sure how I like having thunderbolt there or if I should pick up another move in the spot and which hidden power would benefit the team more.

Mixed Sweeper
  • Absol-Life Orb
Hasty
252 Atk / 40 SpA / 216 Spe
-Swords Dance
-Sucker Punch
-Fire Blast
-X-Scissor

Absol’s sucker punch can pack quite a bit of heat after dancing up first and fire blast takes care of many of the fightings. I like Life Orb because it gives him that extra little push although it can be a slight hazard to his stature. I have him in here so he can start to wear and tear down the team before I bring in my physical or special sweeper. Hes the jack of all trades and master of none.

The Physical Sweeper
  • Marowak-Thick Club
Adament
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Hp
-Swords Dance
-Earthquake
-Double Edge
-Endeavor

Once danced up, with the added power of thick club, Marowak can hit extremely hard. Earthquake for its coverage although the last two moves Im not entirely sure about. I feel like with Marowak even though he is strong he doesn’t cover a large portion of the metagamed pokes and can use some different moves in there.

Special Sweeper
  • Charizard-Choice Specs
Modest
252 Sp. Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
-Overheat
-HP Grass ??
-Dragon Pulse
-Focus Blast

Charizard can make a fine sweeper with his defenses being able to withstand some punishment. Overheat hits hard on most things in general and same with dragon pulse. Focus Blast does have a little bit of an accuracy problem but its there so walls can be dealt [to an extent]. Im leaning towards Grass for its water coverage.

Every Team has a Dragon
  • Kingdra – Scope Lens
Modest
252 Sp. Atk / 4 HP / 252 Spe
-Dragon Dance
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Draco Meteor

Dragons dislike the Ice Beam, Surfs good for the stab and is helped along with DD, I may be wasting some of the speed and put it into HP or Atk. Draco Meteor is like a nuke if it scores a crit and if not itll chunk out a good bit of em.

A Wall….just 1
6. Snorlax-Leftovers
Careful
244 HP / 28 Def / 236 SpD
-Rest
-Sleep Talk
-Body Slam
-Crunch

Snorlax is excellent for absorbing sleep for the rest of its team. Yet another Gengar and other sleepers putter-downer. Crunch for the Stab to get in there and do what it can. I may actually have him switching in before/after Absol or between Charizard and Kingdra.

Marowak sucks becoz of it's low speed, but u can consider it a "sweeper". So why not changing zapdos to a agility batonpasser. Switch absol to mixmence or mixape. As 4 charizard give him air slash 4 secondary STAB or HP grass wich is better to prevent getting walled by swampert. This is the worst kingdra set i've ever seen put calmcune instead of it and snorlax's fine.
Hope I helped ;)

On your Kingdra I would suggest putting waterfall if you want to keep dragon dance. This way you have a move that will recieve the attack boost and you don't have to switch out after Draco meteor. If you're willing to give up dragon dance you can put on rain dance which will boost surf, ruin sandstorm beefing up TTars and Hippowdon's Spd, and activate swift swim (if you have it)
