This is a team I have been working on and have won a handful of battles. This post is to find people that could help me improve my team.

Breloom
Held item: Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
Tera type: Fighting
EV’s: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly
Moves:
- Spore
- Mach Punch
- Bullet Seed
- Swords Dance

This is how my Breloom goes. First I use Spore to guarantee 1 or 2 free turn (3 If I’m lucky and that never happens) Next I use Swords Dance. My Focus Sash is to help me if my opponent’s Pokémon wakes up once my Opponent wakes up or I get to 4X Attack I start using Mach Punch if I know my opponent’s Pokémon is faster than me. If my Pokémon is faster than the Opponent’s Pokémon I use Bullet Seed to guarantee 2 or 3 hits (4 or 5 hits if I’m lucky but like I said that. never happens) Breloom’s Tera Type is Fight type to help me guarantee a KO while using Mach Munch.

Azumarill
Held item: Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
Tera type: Water
EV’s: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Nature: Adamant
Moves:
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Trailblaze

This is how my Azumarill goes. First I always go for Belly Drum if I know if it’s safe to ise it. Otherwise my Azumarill dies Immediately. The Sitrus Berry will help Azumarill restore a little bit of HP to atleast handle future attacks by my opponent’s Pokémon. Aqua Jet is pretty much the attack I will be using for Azumarill to help with her speed. I only use Play Rough if I know my Pokémon is faster than my opponent’s Pokémon that’s why I use Trailblaze first to increase my speed a little. Azumarill’s Tera type is Water to help me guarantee a KO if Aqua Jet is not enough to KO my opponent’s Pokémon.

Magnezone
Held item: Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
Tera type: Fairy
EV’s: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
Moves:
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Tera Blast
- Volt Switch

This is how my Magnezone goes. First I always choose Magnezone in a fight to know what pokémon I will be fighting against (If my opponent doesn’t switch Pokémon) but If I need to use my Magnezone I first Terastalize (If it’s still available) to help me with Fire, Ground and Fighting attacks. I either use Tera Blast or Thunderbolt/Flash Cannon. Choice scarf will help my Magnezone be faster than my opponent’s Pokémon so I can choose Volt Switch before they can even attack (Unless my opponent’s Pokémon is faster)

Gengar
Held item: Leftovers
Ability: Cursed Body
Tera type: Ghost
EV’s: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Nature: Bold
Moves:
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Bomb
- Toxic Spikes

This is how my Gengar goes. First I go woth Substitute if I know my Gengar will be bulky enough for my Substitute to handle my opponent’s attack. Next I use Toxic Spikes before my Gengar gets hit and gets KO. If my gengar manages to survive I go for a Shadow ball or Slidge Bomb depending on what Pokémon am I fighting. Leftovers will help me heal up after using substitue or if I need some quick HP. Gengar’s Tera type is ghost because… I don’t know what Tera type I can give it. Feel free to comment a good Tera type for gengar!

Goodra
Held item: Expert Belt
Ability: Sap Sipper
Tera type: Steel
EV’s: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
Moves:
- Flamethrower
- Ice Beam
- Sludge Bomb
- Thunderbolt

This is how my Goodra goes. It’s actually pretty simple. My Goodra has Expert Belt to increase the attack of super effective moves and my Goodra’s Move set is pretty much just attacks I can use to KO my opponent’s Pokémon (If my opponent’s Pokémon are weak to any of this moves types) Goodra’s Tera type is Steel to help my Goodra han

Quaquaval
Held item: Life Orb
Ability: Moxie
Tera type: Water
EV’s: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly
Moves:
- Bulk Up
- Aqua Step
- Ice Spinner
- Roost

This is how my Quaquaval goes. First I bulk up to increase my attack but more importantly defense to help me stay in battle for more time. Next I use Aqua step to help me increase my Quaquaval’s speed and Ice spinner to help handle grass type pokémon (YES. I’m talking to you Meowscarada! I’m watching ya!… I’m watching ya…) and Roost is to help me heal up my pokémon if I already took damage or if my Life Orb took my HP. Quaquaval’s Tera type is water to help me guarantee a KO with Aqua Step.

Hi Kriitz, welcome to Smogon! I am locking your RMT for the time being as the forum rules require that you provide at least three lines of descriptions for each Pokemon to explain their roles. Please read the rules carefully and look at Team Showcase to see the detail we require. PM me with updated descriptions, and I will be happy to unlock this. Also, feel free to PM me if you need help or have any question. Have a nice day!

To PM someone on Smogon, go over their name on any of their post. It will display a little pop-up with a summary of their profile. Then, hit the "Start conversation" button and you will be able to write a PM just like you write a regular thread.

Why did you choose this Pokemon?
What do the EV spreads do and why do you have it?
What are all 4 moves for?

I don't want to change your team too much because it's your first team. Breloom and Azumarill have some reasonable sets for a more offensive team although, I'd maybe consider switching breloom to banded because focus sash always ends up not really doing a whole lot because most teams will have pokemon that can't be hit by spore or resist your stabs. Consider superpower on Azu. As far as having a scarfer, I think gholdengo, sandy shocks and Iron valiant have a much better speed tier and trapping steels isn't that important. Gengar isn't great right now and this set is a bit sus. Sucker punch will probably do 3 damage maximum to anything, I would just stick with the Smogon set. Goodra is a more defensive mon so, if you really want to use it I'd opt for the smogon set. Quaquaval set is reasonable although I'd consider that you should orient it's ev's defensively and use covert cloak so, you can set up in Garg's face. If you make it especially defensive it can switch into Pao. Finally, you have no hazard control or hazards of your own whilst running a team with no HDB's which will make life a lot more difficult for yourself.

Have to echo some of @SouthsideBay’s thoughts here.

This is a fine attempt for a first team, and certainly better than my first attempt. However, the team’s structure is a bit haphazard. When it comes to building teams, it is important to use Pokemon that have explicit, concrete goals. Think practically about why you are adding a Pokemon to your team. Is it to counter a specific threat? Is it to weaken a specific check to aid another sweeper?

I recommend reading through this thread:https://www.smogon.com/forums/threa...tup-balance-peak-1-2078.3714312/#post-9473794 which does an excellent job at explaining in depth the thought process behind why each Pokemon was chosen. I recommend playing a few matches with that team, too.

Further, you should check out the Viability ranking thread for a more in-depth look at which Pokemon are considered the best in the metagame right now. You have no obligation to use any of the Pokemon listed, but its good to get an idea of which Pokemon are those that you’ll most likely be facing. The usage stats are another great resource, and were just updated yesterday.

Only way to get better is to keep playing. Good luck with future teams!

Thread was unlocked and updated with provided descriptions via PM, thank you!
Heya! Need some help mate. So if I wanted to make a post like “Out of all this Pokémon which should I choose for my team” where would I have to post it?
