First Time RMT: Boahturn

All right, so this is my first rate my team as the title says. I'm fairly new to the competitive Pokemon scene so bear with me. I wanted to make a team around tyranitar because tyranitar is awesome. I tried to use mostly pokemon with a resistance to sandstorm. Originally I had tyranitar as the lead but I felt like tyranitar could be used more effectively with the tyraniboah set. Going with the mixed Tyranitar set. It works better for what Im trying to do with Tyranitar. I opted for the Mamoswine lead but if you have a better suggestion, please make yourself heard. Changes are in red. Heres the team:

Lead:

Metagross @ Occa Berry
EVs:
248 HP / 232 Atk / 28 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake
-Bullet Punch
-Explosion/Meteor Mash

Not using Jirachi anymore means I have a slot for a steel psychic type. I feel like Metagross is a much more solid lead than Mamoswine. Occa Berry lets it take an attack from Infernape and Heatran leads, then earthquake lets Metagross KO them. Bullet Punch is there to take out focus sash users like Infernape. Explosion would let Metagross come in later and take out a problematic pokemon. Meteor Mash would make Metagross more relevant later in the game, and lets it deal with suicide leads more easily.

Lead Matchups:

Azelf: Gets meteor mashed then bullet punched

Infernape: Occa berry lets metagross take a hit. Earthquake and bullet punch let Metagross KO the ape.

Jirachi: Gets earthquaked. Metagross resists Iron head.

Aerodactyl: Bullet Punch will KO it easily.

Swampert: Either switch to Rotom-C and leaf storm or explode. swapert leads are going to be the leads that Metagross has the most trouble with.

Bronzong: If it has heatproof then it can be earthquaked. Otherwise, metagross will have to switch out or explode.

Tyranitar: A meteor mash or earthquake will KO TTar. Metagross outspeeds Tyranitar leads and will have no trouble with them.

Heatran: By far the most problematic lead. Earthquake will do significant damage to it, but heatran outspeeds metagross and will KO it after 2 fire blasts. Vaporeon, Tyranitar, and Flygon can all switch in and hit it for super effective damage.

Mamoswine: Gets bullet punched or meteor mashed. Earthquake is something to look out for but Metagross can take one then KO with bullet punch.

Metagross: Metagross can handle other metagross leads with earthquake. Or I can switch to either Flygon or Rotom-C.

Dragonite: Can be very problematic. Flygon can come in and take the Fire Blast or EQ then outrage.

Machamp: cant do much to metagross besides confuse it with a dynamic punch. Meteor Mash can deal with it pretty handily.

BaitTar:

Tyranitar @ Expert Belt
EVs: 252 Atk / 48 SpA / 208 Spe
Hasty Nature
-Crunch
-Pursuit
-Superpower
-Fire Blast

Going with the BaitTar set instead of the Boah set. This mixed set functions better as a wall breaker, which is what I was using TTar for anyway. Superpower is better than Focus Punch since it doesnt need any set up time. Pursuit can be used to trap the likes of Rotom-a and Celebi. It can imitate the choice sets then hopefully get a KO on the switch in.

Wish Support:
134.png

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
EVs:188 HP / 252 Def / 68 Spe
Bold Nature
-Wish
-Protect
-Surf
-Roar

Vaporeon is a fantastic wall with great water typing. It works well with Tyranitar, resisting many of its weaknesses. Wish support helps keep sweepers and TTar alive, as well as making Vaporeon hard to kill and setting it apart from other bulky waters like Suicune. Protect helps it heal off damage and predict moves. Roar can stop sweepers from destroying my team and it helps scout. Right now vaporeon can somewhat check infernape. Protect lets it heal of damage and roar lets it phaze the ape.

Most Overused Pokemon in OU:
212.png

Scizor @ Choice Band
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Ability: Technician
Adamant Nature
-Bullet Punch
-U-Turn
-Superpower
-Pursuit

Standard Choice Band set on Scizor. I almost dont want to use this because its so cliche, but it works very well on my team. It resists some of TTar's weaknesses and TTar resists fire. STAB Technician Bullet Punch is absolute insanity, and works well for revenge killing. Superpower and pursuit counter a lot of the metagame. And u-turn has amazing synergy with Flygon, which leads me to my next pokemon.

The NowThatMenceisGoneICanFinallyUseMyFavoritePokemon Pokemon:
330.png

Flygon @ Choice Scarf
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-U-Turn
-Stone Edge

Choice scarf Flygon helps Scizor revenge kill really well. STAB Outrage and Earthquake together is a powerful combination. U-Turn can be used with Scizor to really take advantage of the synergy Flygon has with Scizor. Levitate absorbs ground moves pointed at TTar. Jolly nature lets Flygon outspeed agi metagross and empoleon.

Metagame Check:
500.png

Rotom-C @ Choice Scarf
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Timid Nature
-Thunderbolt
-Shadow Ball
-Leaf Storm
-Trick

Rotom can switch into infernape on a fighting type move directed at tyranitar then proceed to Tbolt it to death. Rotom can also be used as a check against Starmie sets, switching in on Thunderbolt or Surf then Thunderbolting it. Trick can be used to cripple walls like Blissy with a scarf. Leaf Storm allows this rotom to check Swampert and Tyranitar as well.

And thats the team. If you notice any glaring issues, please speak up. Anything you can do to improve this team is appreciated.

Hello Xevious nice team you have yourself, I have a few suggestions that may help your team out!

One of the biggest threats I found for this team is set up infernape. Set up Infernape is more troublesome to this team rather then common mixape set which is covered by vaporeon but do not be alarmed Nasty Plot and Swords Dance Infernape are pretty common and still used. Swords Dance and Nasty Plot Infernape has the potential to rip big holes through your team. The Swords Dance set can OHKO Vaporeon with Close Combat after a Swords Dance while everything else is hit by fire punch disregarding Tyranitar who is ripped open by close combat. Mach Punch does weakens Flygon to around 60%. In this case the same goes for Nasty Plot Infernape which can OHKO Vaporeon with Focus Blast and does same around 60% to Flygon with Vaccum Wave. With this said I hope we are on the same page about set up Infernape being the biggest threat to your team.

Shaymin also poses as another threat for this team. You have three grass type weaknesses and the standard Life Orb Shaymin can easily take advantage of that. With Hidden Power Fire and Earth Power on the same set also lets Shaymin OHKO Scizor and hit hard against Jirachi. Shaymin easily switches into Vaporeon letting off a vicious Seed Flare on Jirachi who you would most likely switch into. Considering the 40% chance of a special defense drop thus allows Shaymin to finish off Jirachi respectively with Earth Power or HP Fire.

Another threat for your team is life orb Starmie. Any Starmie with water/electric move can be problem for your team. Forcing you to switch around constantly and try to direct an electric move Thunderbolt safely into Flygon to U-turn doing 65% at most. While in return they can recover there health back continuing the switching cycle. As for Life Orb Starmie who basically has a super effective move on your whole team beside your two steel types Scizor and Jirachi. Scizor even gets ko'd by life orb Hydro Pump after Stealth Rock. While Jirachi isn't always a safe switch in considering it can get 2hko'd by Hydro Pump. I would consider Starmie a huge threat for this as well.

If you haven't already noticed you have three fire weaknesses, two water weaknesses, and three grass weaknesses. Which gives you a strong f/w/g core weakness which is very common in the current metagame. Giving your team literally a night mare when you face a team built around that core. You also do not have fighting resist leaving Subsitute Machamp and Swords Dance Lucario smashing holes against your team. I hate to break the sad news but this team sure in fact deserves some work.

To help compensate for the set up Infernape weakness I would suggest you use Scarf Rotom over Jirachi. This allows you to switch into Infernapes obvious fighting attacks and after Sand Storm and LO recoil you can be able to ko Infernape with Thunderbolt doing over half, 61.8% - 73% letting you switch into Infernapes predicted fighting move and strike back with Thunderbolt. This also lets you revenge kill Starmie with Thunderbolt and OHKO Shaymin considering you obtain maximum damage and stealth rock is in play.

As for the Tyranitar I hate to break it to you but the Tyraniboah set is the pathetic version of tge bait Tyranitar set. It's slower and Super Power outclasses Focus Punch on Tyranitar. Mixtar can provide more of a surprise against your opponent thinking you are either choiced in some way. The mixtar set also handles skarmory and blissey better due to Superpower and Fire Blast. I understand you feel that Tyranitar could be used more effectively with the tyraniboah set but the baittar set completely outclasses it and works more efficiently in the current metagame. By allowing you to trap frail ghost pokemon such as the common rotom forms and gengar considering it is choiced and locked in a move.

Tyranitar @ Expert Belt | Sand Stream
Hasty | 252 Atk / 48 SpA / 208 Spe
Crunch | Pursuit| Superpower | Fire Blast

---
Flygon
Stone Edge > Roost / Fire Punch
Jolly > Adamant
This allows you to hit other flying types without getting locked into Outrage. While Roost is completely worthless on choice scarf and there is no use in Fire Punch
By using Adamant you lose speed and wont be able to out speed pokemon such as Agility Empoleon after an Agility and most Agility Metagross.

Good Luck!
