As gen 9 approaches it's ending I've been trying to build teams for every playstyle from hyper offense to bulky offense, but I had never really tried to build or play with stall until now, as the pacing of the games and lock of offense disincentivized from trying to play it. But I decided that now was as good a time as any to try my hand in it. With that being said here is my first attempt, I hope you all enjoy it!

Hydrapple is a pokemon that has access to a solid move pool, has great bulk and a good hp stat. In addition, most stall teams that I've seen or interacted with really struggled with
in general, and with a four times resis to both ivy cudgel and power whip and being able to healthily take knock off Hydrapple looked to be perfectly primed to handle most ogerpon sets. With access to regenerator as well you are given the opportunity to heal back making this pokemon extremely difficult to chip down long term. In addition, it can sponge up and ice spinner from
if you want to see what your opponent is going to do and then switch out if need be. To be more offensively threatening and apply pressure on pokemon like
or
as well this particular hydrapple is running nasty plot so that if you need to try and break through something you can. Finally we're running tera steel in case either you get in a sticky situation with sludge bomb
or
as well as needing to not having your other pokemon knocked but also needing to deal with
immediately as the stab combination of ice and dark on knock pressure are immediately threatening to this team. Fickle beam and Giga drain are just meant to be stab moves that can chip down other pokemon and earth power is to apply direct pressure on steel or poison types.
:
is serving the standard utility for which it is used on stall teams, to be the ultimate specially defensive wall in the tier. With massive hp and special defense stats
serves this role perfectly being something that is extremely difficult to break through. It also serves as the rocker for this team to apply long term pressure with hazards. Because Blissey doesn't have amazing offensive stats I decided to run seismic toss for progressive chip instead of just trying to overwhelm the other pokemon with flamethrower or shadow ball. Since
has a piss poor defensive stat, it is extremely vulnerable to psyshock as well as being able to chipped down by things like
or
running psynoise, I decided to make the blissey tera dark to compensate for these glaring weaknesses. Even though ghost types like
can't be touched by
, with calm mind and soft boil
can pp stall these pokemon until they are no longer a threat to the team. Finally things like
that would be threatening for most teams can get nullified by getting off a few calm minds and seismic tosses.
:
is a pokemon that is bulky both physically and specially, and since it is one of the better defensive typings in poison, there are many things that would normally be threatening for stall that toxapex actually does a good job of handling. One example of this is
can be really troubling for a lot of stall teams to circumvent due to both it having the ability neutralizing gas as well as it having access to pain split and wil o wisp it is a very problematic pokemon. However, because
has access to infestation, it can trap the
onto the field and as long as you don't hit recover the weezing-galar will get chipped down or faint eventually with a few surfs as well, and even though
will get chipped down a bit, it will be able to use regenerator with the
gone. Another pokemon that presents a huge threat to many stall teams that most of the time
can handle is mixed
. because it is a poison type it resists both of the main stab options for
in moonblast and CC, and knock off is not doing nearly enough for it to be really threatened in the long term. The only set for valiant that would really be a mixed tera electric
(like the standard E terrain LO set) but outside of that toxapex can pretty comfortably handle this pokemon. In addition with access to toxic spikes, this pokemon can become an immediate nuisance for any team that doesn't have either a poison type, or heavy duty boots spam, and can immediately annoy things like
which can't run boots. I ran tera grass to resist ground type moves in dire circumstances as well as thunderbolt in case I came across a Tbolt
although I think at this point I would probably making the toxapex tera dark instead to deal with any psyshock or psychic noise shenanigans.
:
serves as this teams knocker and spiker. with access to the passive healing in terms of the ability toxic heal this pokemon is very hard to ko. With max hp and defense this pokemon is able to take an ivy cudgel from
and get off a toxic as well as an ice spinner from
to either knock it or toxic it. In case this team comes across a
or an ice beam
this particular pokemon is running tera water as it is a solid defensive typing especially when considering the weaknesses of gliscor. In addition the water tera is to prevent any
sets from getting out of hand so that dondozo can curse up and toxic stall out said
.
:
This team only has one knock absorber in
and so to compensate for this,
is here to ensure that you can get a defog off in case a few of your pokemon get knocked off. with access to neutralizing gas, this mon can apply pressure on things like
by nullifying toxic heal, as well as being able to get off a wil o wisp on
and making that matchup significantly easier to handle with all the water types on the team. In addition, strange steam can make it so that any
that tries to get off a rapid spin won't come for cheap. Finally, nullifying regenerator makes it significantly easier to make progress against teams whose foundation are regenerator pokemon. Finally, we're running tera ghost on this guy to both act as a spin blocker, as well as providing a means for handling the rough
matchup, which if given the chance will absolutely steamroll this team.
:
Dondozo is one of the best physical walls in the tier, and with access to the ability unaware and the move curse it is incredibly difficult to break through this pokemon with physical attackers. to make sure that things like
can't just switch into this guy for free we're running a body press set over liquidation. To make sure
can avoid being progressively chipped down without needing it to be paired with a wish passer, this dozo is running a rest sleep talk set. To make body press do stab damage and no longer have power whip do super effective damage we are running tera fighting.
Team weaknesses:
is a huge problem for this team, and the best course of action is probably to start praying. In all seriousness though chances are you're gonna have to get off a toxic and just try to stall it out. this mon is the main reason I can think of that tera dark on
may be better as you can at least recover and make progress with infestation but even then with access to drain punch it probably doesn't matter much.
is also a massive problem and you're most likely going to need to tera ghost your
immediately to take this thing on as even
can't handle this pokemon. Ghost types like
and
can be difficult for this team to take down but realistically most of the time you can pp stall both of them with
and with hazards up this should be even simpler. Finally, make sure to tread lightly around any pokemon that runs psyshock or else that will be the absolute bane of your existence.
