First try at team building, help me improve my team!

Hey guys, I'm new to competitive battling. I want to create a team with some of my favorite pokemon! I'm not so sure on its viability though, so I'm open to suggestions! This team is mainly for battling and crushing my friends. I chose the stats and things from looking up information on the smogon forums. I'm not so sure on roles, so bear with me guys.

Venusaur @ Venusaurite

Chlorophyll, Adamant nature, 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Sp.Def

* Synthesis
* Power Whip/Petal Blizzard
* Earthquake
* Sludge Bomb

I chose Venusaur as a tank for my team. I chose the physical tank spec as Snorlax fits the Special tank of my team. Sludge Bomb will help me counter Fairy types.

Snorlax @ Assault Vest

Thick Fat, Careful/Adamant nature, 252 HP/ 252 Sp.Def/ 4 Atk

* Earthquake
* Body Slam / Return
* Rock Slide
* Pursuit

My favourite pokemon. Even though I know its not all that viable in XY Competitive Battling, I really hope to keep him on my team. I chose him as a special tank for my team. The Boomlax idea I've seen on the forums seems really interesting and i wouldn't mind also giving that a try.

Politoed @ Choice Specs

Drizzle, Modest Nature, 252 HP/ 252 Sp.Atk/4 Def

* Hydro Pump
* Ice Beam
* Focus Blast / Psychic
* Hidden Power Grass / Surf

I've always wanted to try competitive battling with a pokemon that relies on weather effects and changes and politoed fits my description well. Hopefully it can help me counter strong pokemon such as Blaziken and Charizard.

Scizor @ Choice Band

Technician, Adamant Nature, 252 Atk/ 248 HP/ 8 Sp.Def

* U-turn
* Bullet Punch
* Superpower
* Pursuit / Quick Attack

Scizor is such a good pokemon that I couldn't pass up. It has a really strong movepool - Bullet punch can harm Fairy types. U-turn is also a really strong move on scizor.

Gengar @ Choice Scarf

Levitate, Timid/Modest nature, 252 Speed/ 252 Sp.Atk/ 4 HP

* Shadow Ball
* Focus Blast
* Sludge Wave/Icy Wind
* Trick/Thunderbolt

Gengar will act as a special attacker. I chose the set that will help me outspeed most opponents and hopefully sweep in late game.

Dragonite @ Weakness Policy

Multiscale, Adamant Nature, 252 Atk/252 Speed/6 HP

* Dragon Dance
* Dragon Claw
* Fire Punch
* Extremespeed

Dragonite can be substitute the easiest. I chose it as it has good durability and can help me take care of other dragon types. But I'm open to any other suggestions.

Edit: Adding information about the pokemons I chose, but I chose them mainly for type coverage and because they are some of my favourites.
Edit 2: Made a small mistake, miswrote some EVs - Sp.Atk on Venusaur has been changed to Attack.

You should probably add descriptions of each pokemon and their role, because (other than the fact that it is in the rules) it makes rating and giving suggestions on what can fill a better role much easier for the raters.

As for your team, you may want to reconsider Snorlax and Venusaur's EV/Natures, since they don't make much sense (adamant nature with sp attack investment on venusaur?).
