First Try Dont go easy (RMT)

This is my first real competitive battling team. I have been playing pokemon since Red and Blue but I never got into competitive battling until now. EV’s are probably sub par and I’m sure my team could use a lot of work, but be as harsh as you can so I can learn better. I would like to say I’m a quick learner though so as soon as I get into wifi battles on D/P I’ll probably improve a lot, until then this is all speculation and I have no threat list because I don’t know what the popular threats will be.

Marowak @ Thick Club
Trait: Rock Head
Nature: Jolly
EV: 252 SPD/ 252 ATK/ 4 HP
Boomerang
Swords Dance
Rock Slide
Brick Break

Yes my starter. I’m hoping starting with this beast will raise some eyebrows and catch opponents off guard. I love his super sexy attack power, and he should wreck quite a lot of people before he is forced down, it should also stomp on many counters for my other pokes.

Lapras @ leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
Nature: Modest
EV: 244 HP/ 132 SPATK/ 132 SPDEF
Rest
Sleep Talk
Ice Beam
Thunder Bolt

I’m counting on Lapras to pretty much last with Rest, Sleep Talk, and switching into surfs he should keep his high HP high. The obligatory boltbeam should take out most things that need taking out. Should work wonders on Garchomp.

Weezing @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
Nature: Impish
EV: 252 HP/ 252 DEF/ 4 SPATK
Haze
Sludge Bomb
Will~O~Wisp
Explosion / Pain Split (I cant decide)

My special wall. Marowak should kill his counters, allowing him to stay out and stop whatever special sweepers the opponent has. I can’t decide whether I should Pain Split to heal, or Explosion to kill.

Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Trait: Hard Rock
Nature: Impish
EV: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Swords Dance
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Megahorn

I completely stole ADH’s build in his Rhyperior discussion, but what can I say, I love it to death. Hes possibly my favorite pokemon right now and I love this setup.

Houndoom @ Salac Berry
Trait: Early Bird
Nature: Naïve
EV: 124 SPATK/ 124 ATK/ 252 SPD / 8 HP
Crunch
Flamethrower
Pursuit
Will~O~Wisp

My semi special sweeper. I may change him if I really need to but I kinda like him. He should put a stop to annoying ghost types and is my only pursuit poke, so unless you can think of a better option, he stays.

Sceptile @ Leftovers
Trait: Overgrow
Nature: Timid
EV: 252 SPD/ 252 SPATK/ 4 HP
Leech Seed
Leaf Blade
Subsitute
Thunder Punch

Another semi sweeper. He should basically stall and annoy the crap outta most people.

Well here my first ever team, no threat list cause I don’t know what I should be able to counter and such.

You have trouble with HP ice electrics (especially jolteon) Nothing on your team can really take SP attacks, so if AGmence moves in on Ryperior's EQ, you're in quite a tight bind.

Leading with Marowak is suicide, any AGMene will shred it, and it's only useful with speed passed. It will never get to SD and sweep as it is 2HKO'd by everything special and probobly physical too. Also Hercross can switch into WoW and probobly sweep most of your team.

You're going to have problems sweeping anything as your two main threats (Rhyperior and Marowak) are very slow and you have no paralysis support to help them out.

Look at the threat list again and work out what your team will have problems with.

first off you should read this: http://www.smogon.com/forums/announcement.php?f=43&a=21.

And you say Weezing is a special wall, but you've put all the EVs in defense (which is where they belong anyway, as using Weezing for a special wall makes no sense.) Not sure if you just wrote special by accident or what but I thought I'd point it out.

Other than that, I'll echo that early bird isn't useful on Houndoom and you should give him flash fire, and also that you're in trouble against a strong electric sweeper (Electivire is this team's worst nightmare, and it's going to be all over the place) and Marowak is a terrible lead.

Thanks everyone for your help. I'm really happy you guys went all out with your constructive critisism. I'll take everything you guys said to heart and come back with a new team in the future.

So thank you guys again. I promise you to reread everything and reformulate a better team.
