So, I almost exclusively play and build for OU just because it's the most strategic of the tiers (in my opinion) however, I recently wanted to try out Ubers because I love the sheer, raw power of the tier. Hyper Offensive is my favorite style of play and so I thought, I'd give it a try. It took quite a few teams to get it right, but when making this team, I thought it'd be just a another "let's just see how this works" kind of team until I went 30-2 with it. So without further adooooo, here's the team.
Kreuger (Darkrai) @ Leftovers
Ability: Bad Dreams
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dark Void
- Substitute
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
Bringing Nightmare On Elm Street to Pokemon: My go to lead. Darkrai's fantastic speed tier allows it to have a fast Dark Void to put pressure on to the opponent immediately, allowing him to get a free Substitute and Nasty Plot. "Hey you should really run Sludge Bomb instead of substitute." No, and here's why: A +2 Darkrai under a substitute is terrifying to literally any pokemon bar Xerneas. Darkrai forces a lot of switches allowing him to continue Nasty Plotting under a sub. Should I predict a Xerneas coming in...
Suicide (Wobbuffet) @ Leftovers
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 80 HP / 176 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Encore
- Counter
- Mirror Coat
- Destiny Bond
...in comes my main squeeze Suicide. *Oprah Winfrey voice* I. Love. Wobbuffet. There, I said it. I love Wobbuffet. He survives any switch and with an Encore, provides a free set up for any of my sweepers. So go ahead, use that Geomancy. Dance with those swords, because you're gonna regret it immediately. Because...
Killer (Groudon-Primal) @ Red Orb
Ability: Desolate Land
EVs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 32 SpD / 56 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Rock Polish
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
...you're about to regret every life decision you've made up to this point. After my Wobbuffet traps you into whatever move I see fit, he gets a free Rock Polish whether you decide to stay in or switch. Regardless of your decision, 168 HP allows him to survive a PB from an opposing Groudon (meaning he can survive about anything) allowing a Swords Dance set up, which for most people, a +2 attack and speed Groudon means game over. I chose EQ over PB because no one is surviving a +2 EQ anyway and 85% accuracy is just a little to unreliable for me. But the party doesn't stop there.
Steamroller (Salamence) @ Salamencite
Ability: Aerilate
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Roost
- Return
- Earthquake
Should I deem he a better switch in than Pdon after Wobbuffet, I get a free Dragon Dance out of him and thanks to his fantastic bulk, and Roost I most of the time can even get two DDs. Let me tell you. Salamence is a monster after even just one DD but if I'm able to get two in, he has very few - if any counters. Return is so ridiculously powerful and combined with powerful coverage from Earthquake, he can - as his name suggests. Steamroll through many teams.
Vengence (Shaymin-Sky) @ Life Orb
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Seed Flare
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Healing Wish
Awe, isn't he just the cutest little revenge killer. After my sweepers have rolled through a team, I send in this little guy to pick off the weak ones. Outspeeding most of the metagame, after his checks are removed from play, he will drive my opponent up a damn wall thanks to Serene Grace Air Slash and Seed Flare. HP Ice rounds off coverage, allowing him to deal with Flying types and Shaymin twins. And Healing Wish is to make my opponents cry when my sweepers get a second chance to wreck.
Fairytale (Xerneas) @ Power Herb
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 184 HP / 28 Def / 252 SpA / 44 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 1 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Geomancy
- Moonblast
- Thunder
- Hidden Power [Ground]
And the honor of my late-game clean-up crew goes to the infamous stag himself. Because honestly, once his checks are taken care of, all you can do is accept defeat after a Geomancy. EVs allow him to sponge almost any hit, especially after his set-up. Moonblast the obligatory stab. Thunder is for Ho-Oh and Lugia, while HP Ground deals with Pdon should he still be in and steel types.
Soooo. Yeah, that's my team. I would love to hear from everyone what they think, and I'll include replays below for everyone to see the action.
