First Ubers Team!

Hello all, and welcome to my first Uber RMT. I only recently started playing Ubers so please go easy on me! :D

The team is revolved around using Klefki to check numerous set-up sweepers and use the other pokemon to smash things.

Yveltal @ Life Orb
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Atk
Mild Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Dark Pulse
- Taunt
- Oblivion Wing

Standard mixed Yveltal. When I see a Smeargle or something that’s asking to be taunted I lead with this thing. Dark Pulse is an incredibly strong STAB move, being boosted by both Dark Aura and Life Orb. Sucker Punch is the only priority on my team, but it is a strong one, heavily denting those who are frail and do not resist it. Taunt is for stopping things that are taunt bait (obviously) and walls who wish to heal/status Yveltal. Oblivion Wing provides the recovery necessary to heal damage from Stealth Rock, as I don’t have a Defogger.

Klefki @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 HP / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Play Rough
- Spikes
- Toxic

Double status Klefki checks so many threats to this team. Actually, it technically doesn’t. It makes it easier to check other pokemon on the opponent’s team through the use of Toxic and Thunder Wave. Play Rough is so I am not complete taunt bait (Yveltal I’m looking at you) and Spikes is a useful hazard that I spam when I have nothing better to do. EVs are invested in special bulk in order to take hits from GeoXern better.

Arceus-Ghost @ Spooky Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Focus Blast
- Judgment

Arceus-Ghost is my chosen Arceus form, and it does not disappoint. Calm Mind and Recover are standard moves for most CM Arceus. Focus Blast and Judgment provide perfect neutral coverage, although I mostly spam Judgement. The EVs are to at least speed tie any other Arceus and increase bulk. This thing also doubles as a Extreme Killer Check, as it outspeeds and hits with Focus Blast, although unfortunately not that hard, making it a priority to put some residual damage on the Extreme Killer first.

Groudon @ Earth Plate
Ability: Drought
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic

This is the pokemon on my team I am the most unsure of. Groudon smashes things with Earth Plate boosted Earthquake, and Stone Edge provides good coverage. Stealth Rock is necessary for nearly any team, and Groudon is an excellent pokemon to set it up. Toxic cripples the numerous walls that come in to wall Groudon. Unfortunately Groudon is kind of lacking in bulk when given this EV spread.

Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Calm Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Heal Bell
- Wish
- Protect

Ah, Sylveon, you are so underrated in Ubers. Having great special bulk, combined with being a cleric AND a wish passer, Sylveon helps fill in the gaps for my team. Hyper Voice hits enough things super effectively, and it also gets boosts from Pixilate and STAB. Heal Bell allows Sylveon to act as a cleric, getting rid of sleep from Palkia and uncrippling (is that even a word?) Arceus-Ghost and Groudon. WishTect provides reliable recovery and also supports the team.

Palkia @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Spacial Rend
- Hydro Pump
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Finally, my Kyogre check. Palkia has been one of my favorite pokemon of all time, and it hits plenty hard. Spacial Rend hits Kyogre pretty well, and Hydro Pump functions as another STAB. RestTalk gives Palkia a form of healing, but I’m not sure if Sleep Talk is redundant at all, considering I have a cleric in the form of Sylveon. Maybe Toxic should go there?

Thanks for reading this RMT! Please give advice for any problems you think this team has!

Hi Eatthepear,

A few suggestions. Overall, the team suffers most from pressure on the keys (which lots of klefki teams tend to have) and Ho-Oh. Ho-Oh is a major threat, mostly because you lack a solid answer to it, Palker being your best option and it's 2HKOd by BB. Also, I'd say Ekiller is a pretty big threat to this team, since nothing burns it and at worst it gets a para or toxic from Klefki or Groudon respectively.

I would run Lando-T > Groudon. This helps against Ho-Oh and Mega Blaziken, taking pressure off your keys to quickly paralyze Blaziken.

Another thing I would recommend is SDef Xerneas > Sylveon, mostly since the team is more offensively oriented and the advantage of Wish passing is lost in the offensive prowess of the team.

Another major problem with the team is a lack of defog, which since at the moment, Mental Herb Shuckle gets down a sticky web and pretty much screws this team. I'd strongly suggest Support Ghostceus > current one since it helps significantly with Ekiller and has defog.

Arceus-Ghost @ Spooky Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 248 HP / 164 Def / 96 Spd or whatever speed creep you want
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Judgment
- Defog
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover

On Palkia, run AV since atm it's almost a cross between SDef and offensive. AV is the best fit, being fairly offensive but still hard countering Kyogre.

Good luck!

Thanks for the great rate! Time to address the changes.

Lando-T > Groudon:
This looks like a great change, thanks!

SDef Xerneas > Sylveon:
Well, I really like Sylveon, so it'll take some testing to figure this one out.

Support Ghostceus > current one
I kinda like having a decent win condition, aside from battering away at the opponent's team. Besides, Ghostceus outspeeds Extreme Killer and hits it with Focus Blast.

AV Palkia:
This is another tough one. I think it'll be based on whether I pick Sylveon or Xerneas, as having wish support is good for an assault vest pokemon, while the palkia I have now doesn't need as much wish support.

Yeah, I love Sylveon too, but running things like CM Ghostceus, Earth Plate Groudon, and LO Yveltal tend to push an offensive direction, which Xerneas tends to fit better whereas Sylveon is more useful in something like stall.

While it is nice to have a win condition, Jolly Max+ Speed Ekiller is more dominant this gen, so it's actually a speed tie at best, and the teams has a lot of pressure on keys (So MGengar+Xern or something will give you a lot of trouble). Also, I forgot to mention but a pursuit trapper would be useful, though there aren't really very many members you can drop. I suppose you could also run Defensive Ygod as it beats Ekiller easily, allowing you to keep CM Arc though Sticky Web still beats you.

AV Palkia is probably a better choice in my opinion. The current set is... strange I guess. It feels like a SDef RestTalk Palkia, but it's running an offensive spread plus both STABs. Since the team is offensive, I'd probably go AV Palk + Sylveon maybe.

I'm going to call a bit more attention to sticky web. It's very matchup based, but with the right matchup, such as this team, it has a field day.
