First Ubers Team

Hey guys, I've posted quite a few RMT's before, but this is my first ubers team. I'm new to the tier, but I know the most-used Pokemon, etc..so I've compiled a heavily WIP team - I have access to all of these Pokemon because I can RNG them in Pearl, Platinum, SoulSilver, White, and Black / White 2. Basically, if you suggest a Pokemon, be sure that it's a non-event one from one of those games so I'll be able to RNG it! Anyway, here's the team.

Slot 1: Stealth Rock Support

groudon.gif

Groudon @ Leftovers - Impish Nature (Drought)
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Attack / 252 Defense
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Roar

Groudon is my lead Pokemon most of the time. Leftovers are an ideal item for tons of different Pokemon, and an Impish nature maximizes its defense when coupled with the 252 EVs. The other EVs are invested into HP so it can take more hits. Stealth Rock is a staple on any team, so that is self-explanatory. EdgeQuake hits every Pokemon in the game for neutral damage, so Groudon will not have to force-switch out because none of its moves will do much. Say a Xerneas comes out and sets up on Groudon with Geomancy. Well, a simple Roar will have destroyed its Power Herb, and taken off its Geomancy boosts, effectively making opposing Xerneas almost useless.

Slot 2: Bulky-ish Special Attacker

palkia.gif

Palkia @ Leftovers - Timid Nature (Pressure)
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Sp. Attack / 252 Speed
- Hydro Pump
- Spacial Rend
- Rest
- Toxic

Palkia is a very handy Pokemon - its dual STABs are nearly unresisted. In fact, only the likes of Azumarill (that I can think of off the top of my head) resists Palkia's attacks, but Hydro Pump could even kill it in a few hits thanks to its frailty. Timid nature allows Palkia to outspeed all of the base 90's that are present in the Uber tier - and it also outspeed Xerneas and Yveltal! Rest will restore Palkia's HP, Toxic can help slowly whittle away at opponent's HP, and Spacial Rend is STAB.

Slot 3: Set-up Special Sweeper

xerneas.gif

Xerneas @ Power Herb - Modest Nature (Fairy Aura)
EVs: 104 HP / 32 Defense / 252 Sp. Attack / 120 Speed
- Geomancy
- Moonblast
- Thunder
- Focus Blast

Xerneas is the #1 Pokemon in the Ubers tier, and it's not hard to see why - it's powerful, self-supporting...but also predictable. Every Xerneas, or at least, just about every Xerneas runs Geomancy, Moonblast, and Focus Blast. The combination of these moves allows Xerneas to hit many different threats - Thunder can allow it to take out Kyogre, especially at +2. Focus Blast, while unreliable, takes out other threats like Dialga. EVs combine bulk with power, and Modest nature maximizes power. Power Herb charges up Geomancy in one turn.

Slot 4: Physical Scarf

zekrom.gif

Zekrom @ Choice Scarf - Lonely Nature (Teravolt)
EVs: 252 Attack / 4 Sp. Attack / 252 Speed
- Bolt Strike
- Volt Switch
- Draco Meteor
- Sleep Talk

Zekrom is a great Pokemon. It has great stats, great moves...this set is scarfed. Lonely nature makes for a mixed set. Draco Meteor can hit anything that doesn't resist it for major damage. Bolt Strike and Volt Switch are electric STAB. In case enemy Darkrai come in, Zekrom can use Sleep Talk to surprise it. EVs maximize attack and speed. Teravolt also negates Dragonite and Lugia's Multiscale, and other abilities, so it's a great ability to have.

Slot 5: Bulky Physical

giratina-origin.gif

Giratina @ Griseous Orb - Adamant Nature (Levitate)
EVs: 252 Attack / 248 Defense / 8 Sp. Defense
- Shadow Sneak
- Defog
- Dragon Tail
- Earthquake

Giratina is the actual definition of a bulky attacker. In fact, it's pretty hard to break through 150 / 100 / 100 defenses. Shadow Sneak is for priority. Defog is to clear the rocks away. Dragon Tail is to shuffle the opponent's team. And Earthquake is for coverage. Giratina is also neutral to all hazards and immune to Spikes, making it a premier defogger.

Slot 6: Cleric / Mega Evolution

I don't know what to put in this slot...I dunno, I just can't decide. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

So, that's my team. Thanks for reading! I also do have access to move tutors in gen5, by the way.

Hey Cloud_Nine987,

Right now, there are a number of threats that beat this team, which hinders its success. First and foremost, Xerneas 6-0s you; you NEED a check. However, you are also weak to Ekiller, Yveltal, Ho-Oh, and a few other threats. You will need serious reworking to cover these threats.

One quick thing you can do to help is to run WoW > EQ on Gira-O, allowing it to check Ekiller better. Other optimization notes include Outrage > Draco Meteor on Krom. Otherwise, I feel like Lando-T > Groudon would help patch up a Ho-Oh weakness.

Good luck!

I'd add Kyogre, but due to limitations, I'd have to SR the one in Alpha Sapphire when it comes out - I can't really get one anywhere else. So that is an option since I will have access at some point

Wut. SE TB does the same as Moonblast. It sucks. Thunder is infinitely better.

Cloud_Nine987 the teams not horrible. Lando-T > Groudon will help; so will WoW. I kinda overstated the fact that it would need reworking. The 6th member needs to be a Xerneas check. Although, then we get into the standard Ground / Fairy / Xern check / Ogre check stuff.

I would definitely not say that TBolt is better at all (It is better than Flash Cannon tho). You don't necessarily need rain support when Kyogre is one of the most commonly used Pokemon in the tier, in which the team will be supporting you with rain themselves. Including what haxiom just said (almost ninja'd me you spaz), TBolt hits like a pansy compared to Thunder, and Thunder does more damage against 2 of Xerneas's checks: Ho-Oh and Specially Defensive Kyogre. I'm not sure how well Lando-T will fit with Gira-O, as similar to my own team, the double Ground immunity was stupid. So, we can replace Groudon and Giratina-O with Landorus-T and Support Ghost Arceus just for good measure:

Landorus-T @ Earth Plate
252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake
-U-turn
-Stealth Rock

Arceus-Ghost @ Spooky Plate
252 HP / 144 Def / 112 Spe
Nature: Timid
-Judgment
-Defog
-Will-O-Wisp
-Recover

Also, for the 6th team member, a Xerneas check could be in order. Maybe Mega Scizor could help but without Defog:

Scizor @ Scizorite
248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Nature: Adamant
-Pursuit
-Superpower
-Roost
-U-turn

Scizor can check Xern, Extreme Killer Arceus and Mega Gengar all in one set while keeping momentum. Careful for HP Fire Xerneas and Mega Gengar tho

That actually should patch up a large amount of your team's flaws. Hope this helps!

That seems like a solid team! I'll need to check an Arceus, because...well, there's no real way to get that, but everything else should be do-able.

Thunder on Xerneas is too inaccurate,Thunderbolt is more reliable unless you have rain support in which case Thunder would be better.
Um tbolt is hell garbage.

90*2=180
95*1.5*1.3=185

Moonblast does more, thunderbolt does jack to ho-oh and defensive ogre, especially ho-oh is often switched in on xern so if you cant even do half to it, glhf.
