First UU Team [Bulky Offense]

INTRODUCTION:

I started UU after the Crobat + Shaymin + Honchcrow 'ban'. I still play OU mostly, but I did make this UU team. I really didn't know where to start so I chose to try and get Mesprit to sweep as it was one of the very few BLs I had ever used in any of my OU teams. The team got me to the 1300s and then I started losing as much as I was winning. I then temporarily quit UU so I hope this RMT will give me some ideas as to where to take this team.

TEAM IN DEPTH:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 24 Spe / 76 Atk / 156 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
Comments / Thoughts:
Registeel was pretty much my first choice for a lead. I knew it was extremely defensive, and felt it just wouldn't die in UU. That isn't far from the truth. Spreading Thunder Wave is awesome. Stealth Rock is a necessity in any tier. Iron Head creates the ParaFlinch combination creating a 42.5% chance of the opponent not attacking. Other than that, Registeel and his EV's are completely standard and it's main role is as a special wall. 24 Spe is to outrun most other Registeel, Hariyama, Tangrowth etc. pre-T-Waving.
Roserade @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Spe / 136 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef -Atk)
- Spikes
- Sludge Bomb
- Energy Ball
- Leech Seed
Comments / Thoughts:
I found this Roserade in the Offensive Combinations thread which is where I actually started learning about UU. I decided to use Spikes as the residual damage helps against common walls. This Roserade just about destroys Chansey who can pretty much wall Mesprit to death. The EVs are ripped straight off the thread. This way, Chansey usually won't be destroying Roserade even with Ice Beam. Leech Seed is useful for promoting switches, helps with last-poke situations (damn Shuckles), and nets large amounts of HP against Chansey. Sludge Bomb and Energy Ball are my offensive moves of choice.
Moltres @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SATK / 184 Spe / 74 SDef
Timid Nature (+Spe -Atk)
- Fire Blast
- Air Slash
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Roost
__________________________________________________ ____________
Comments / Thoughts:
I felt Moltres was incredibly overpowered in UU and had to use it. It's also a way for me to punish opponents for not having their Rocks up early (though Registeel isn't helping with that). The EVs are to outrun even offensive Milotics. The moveset is fairly standard though I'm unsure whether Toxic would help me more or HP Grass would. But with Toxic Spikes hitting the water types, I figured HP Grass is more useful. Moltres also helps against fighting types and hurts stuff like Spiritomb even after a Calm Mind (both thanks to it's awesome stats). Life Orb is used as I intend to go offensive with Moltres. I'm thinking of using this as a lead.
Hariyama @ Leftovers
Ability: Guts
EVs: 80 HP / 172 Atk / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Impish Nature (+Def -SAtk)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Cross Chop
- Payback
__________________________________________________ ____________
Comments / Thoughts:
Hariyama is probably the perfect switch-in for Chansey and even most Registeel. This is of particular importance since Mesprit gets walled by the two. RestTalk activates Guts and usually makes Cross Chop amazingly powerful. Hariyama allows me to punish most switches to special walls and that's the main reason I put him on the team.
Milotic @ Leftovers
Ability: Marvel Scale
EVs: 148 HP / 252 Def / 108 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def -Atk)
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Hypnosis
- Recover
__________________________________________________ ____________
Comments / Thoughts:
Milotic walls some very key threats and simply had to be on the team. Every UU team realistically needs a bulky water. It also creates the Fire + Grass + Water combination that's very potent defensively. Surf + Ice Beam hits everything pretty hard but for the bulky waters and chansey. I decided to utilize Hypnosis since Roserade is no longer using Sleep Powder. Sleep moves are useful and Milotic is bulky enough to afford to miss. Milotic is crucial to this team.
Mesprit @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Spe / 56 Def
Timid Nature (+Spe -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
__________________________________________________ ____________
Comments / Thoughts:
Mesprit is the late-game sweeper of choice. It's easily bulky enough to pull off several Calm Minds. BoltBeam + Psychic is very potent and has near perfect coverage (hits everything except Magneton). The EVs are standard and Timid helps outspeed several important mons. Due to Spikes support and stuff like Hariyama + Roserade, I'm hoping Chansey and Registeel would be overwhelmed and unable to Toxic my Mesprit as it kills them and hopefully, ends the game for me.
I'll post a threat list later. But I'm pretty sure this team has quite a few flaws as it is my first in this tier. Thank you for reading this far if you have.
EDIT: No threat list, I'm sorry. Thanks to BurtonEarny for his insightful suggestions.
A pretty solid team, I don't see any glaring weaknesses.
Moltres won't last long if Stealth Rocks are up and a fast sweeper is out, I might give him more speed, but that's just me.
Roserade is walled by Grass types, I might go with Sludge Bomb over Energy Ball.
This isn't very important, but Hariyama's 4 Spd EVs should probably go to SpDef.
great great team. no glaring weaknesses. however, i see Roserade would be much better with Sludge Bomb over Energy Ball. This is my reason why
Torterra @ Leftovers
~Rock Polish
~Earthquake
~Stone Edge
~Wood Hammer
Ability: Overgrow
Nature: Adamant
252 Atk/6 Def/252 Spe
if it gets off rock polish hits 422 Speed. And Torterra can hit half your team for SE damage. Thunder Wave won't affect it, so ur only hope is Sleep Powder from Roserade. but even after that, Torterra can outlast and Earthquake to KO it. Energy Ball just doesn't do enough.
Just a few quick things I notice at first glance. Ill post more tomm if you still havent gotten much help. Contrary to the other posters, I DO feel this team has room for some growth. Heres some minor things you should consider fixing.
Registeel-
You could lose the atk. ev's tbh. I would run 24 spe. ev's also to outspeed Chanseys, other Regis, Azumarills, Hariyama, and Tangrowth among some other stuff. It helps you to KNOW you will go first and can explode or paralyze or whatever.
Roserade-
Toxic spikes is pretty bad in UU... You would probably be better off running Sludge Bomb to hit other Roserade. (She was the most common UU poke last month) You could run a LO Roserade in this spot and it would likely do more for you.
Moltress-
Ev's, item, and set dont mesh... Sub is nice to prevent status for defense, but you dont have it, and LO is nice because you can roost off recoil, but you dont have it either.
Milotic-
Physically based water types like Azumarill really hinder the effectiveness of the team as only Mespirit is a safe switch in against it... and it your sweeper you dont want it to have to try to wall something.
I use:
Milotic @ leftovers
252 Hp/ 212 Def./ 40 Spe.
Surf/ Haze/ Hp Electric/ Recover
- it does a good job against physical waters, but watch out for Azumarill's CB Double Edge. (not entirely common) Haze helps against Crotomb who is also a very difficult poke for this team to handle. Feel free to tweak the ev's to your liking, but I would at the very least test the set.
Alright thats some initial thoughts... I'm going to bed
Thanks for the rates. I'll change Energy Ball to Sludge Bomb. Torterra is usually beaten by Mesprit. Survive a hit, and Ice Beam.
@ BurtonEarny:
I'll change Registeel's Atk. over to Defense and Speed then.
I run Toxic Spikes simply because of Chansey. But if Roserade is #1, then it is likely I'd lose the spikes quickly anyways. I'm thinking I'll remove Sleep Powder and Toxic Spikes to make Roserade a Spikes varient. Residual damage is very useful in wearing down the common UU special walls.
Good point on Moltres. I'll add Substitute over HP Grass. Maybe change to ToxiStall since I'm losing Toxic Spikes support?
I think I'll go with Hypnosis on Milotic if I'm removing Sleep Powder on Roserade. Still, it'd leave my CroTomb weakness, which I'd simply have to play around with Roserade (leech seed) + Registeel.
Thanks for the rates, keep them coming!
If you use Modest LO Roserade. Leafstorm 2HKO's even after it CM's once and your Sp. Atk. drop. It also beats Chansey with Leafstorm to Sleep powder, then the next time it comes in on Sludge Bomb Leafstorm then ko's before it can recover... its pretty nice.
Example (you need SR up):
Send in Roserade on a Milotic's Surf or whatever
Leafstorm hits Chansey
Sleep Powder to prevent recovery
Next time Roserade is out Sludge Bomb to hit Chansey on the switch
Leafstorm for the ko
-with Synthesis you can get rid of recoil and keep her from recovering for good so long as they dont predict it
With that roserade Crotomb shouldn't be a HUGE issue because it cannot switch into an attack and survive 2 Leafstorms.
If you run LO Moltress you can also beat it with 2 Fire Blasts in a row.
----------
Hypnosis is pretty much a waste. I wouldn't bother with it... Its only helpful once, has sketchy accuracy, and isn't guaranteed to hit something worth it.
----------
I run a team that is similar to this one, and I beat Crotomb with my LO Roserade and LO Moltress should my Milotic be out of commission. Consider using at least one.
Ur right. But it's not a surefire method to handling it. I mean, the opponent probably isn't sending in a weakened Chansey against LO Roserade with Leaf Storm. I prefer residual damage in the form of Toxic Spikes to weaken Chansey for this reason.
I like the suggestions, thanks BurtonEarny. I'm going to use LO Moltres. Possibly in the lead position since I don't want LO + SR completely ruining it and forcing me to Roost as soon as I bring it in each time?
I've actually found Hypnosis useful, since it's on a bulky Poke like Milotic. Sleep support can be useful in giving me free switches and stuff. The Natural Cure pokes like Altaria will probably be wary switching into Milotic's Hypnosis anyways, since it usually carries Ice Beam. IN ANY CASE, I'll test your moveset out.
Thanks for all the help. Anything else the team is possibly missing or could use?
About the Roserade comment:
Thats the point, and its beautiful! If their sp. wall can no longer take her hits and survive, then that usually means nothing they have will be able to wall her anymore and its basically gg.
----------
About what else to fix:
well, not too much really. Absol can be a real problem, but so can anything that gets crits as often as he does... It, along with Chansey is the reason I run CB Drapion with Battle Armor on my bulky offense team in the spot you run Hariyama. It HOSES Absol and makes it so that Chansey cant wall LO Moltres or Roserade after it munches a CB pursuit... Anyway, good work on the team. Its refreshing as someone who looks at RMT's often to see a solid UU product w/o having to change much.
I dont play UU that much, but I can tell from looking that this is a very solid team. Your right about the Fire / Grass / Water resistence defensive types thing...thats why there the three starter types I think? Anyhoozer, the types on your team really work in synergy with each other, so congratulations.
However, I do see a small problem. It seems like you would be switching a lot, so you might want to put a spinner on your team. But even if you didnt, it wouldnt be a big deal. Its as BurtonEarny said. "Its refreshing as someone who looks at RMTs often to see a solid UU product". Congratulations to you.
