First UU Team

I have decided to break free from chains of ou, and try out UU tier. Like many, constant weather battles, and non stop volt-turning has drove me crazy, and I just want to have a normal battle.
So I have made this team, and want to make it better.
I noticed the focus in uu seems to be hazard setting, and removing it. Most every team has a spin blocker, and a spinner. So I wanted to steer away from that, and focus on sheer power and speed, and get the upper hand early while ppl were going hazard crazy.

I wanted to build around this guy. He's so bulky and so strong. Seemed like he would have so many chances to set up, in a psychic dark ghost dominated tier. Plus he was my favorite poke on the cartridge.

Chandelure was another one of my faves. He also has perfect synergy with Escavalier, covering his one weakness flawlessly. He also has the best special attacking movepool I could think of. After one rock polish and one nasty plot, chandelure is faster than most choiced pokes, and strong enough to ohko almost the entire tier, and can hit most everything super effectively

I wanted to be able to make chandelure unstoppable. So thought I would grab a baton passer, the best one in the game is Mew, so that's why he's here.
Priority attacks is a must on any team. This girl revenge kills flygon perfectly while its stuck in outrage.

I needed some raw fast physical power. I used to run Victini in OU, but that needs a lot of sun support to be useful, and requires a lot of switching. Flare Blitz doesn't. So I chose this beast.

This guy is an Uber Stall god. No clue why he is still in UU. He provides some needed status, as my team isn't very defensive oriented.

I battled between Hitmon and this guy. Hitmon really didn't add to the synergy. This guy covers Darmanitan and Chandelure perfectly. Rapid Spin relief im discovering is very important here. You UU guys love spike layers.

Now the team.

302.png

Sableye (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 56 Def / 196 SDef / 4 Speed
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Recover
- Substitute

Did I mention this guy should be Uber? Noone is better at stalling. I lead out with it more often than not. I can spread some burns, and prevent teams laying spikes and stealth rock. The EV's are set up to take Special Attacks better, as I'm gonna burn my competition, no point going crazy on physical defense. The only sure fire way to stop this guy, is to taunt him, unless he taunts you first.

589.png

Escavalier (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- pursuit
- Iron Head
- Toxic
- Megahorn
This guy is amazing. So many opportunities to switch him in for resisted attacks. Pursuit guarantees I take out anything I switch into that is psychic. Toxic works great if I haven't burned anyone already. If they are burned, they aren't hurting this guy and he can wreak some serious havoc.
I chose shell armor, cause critical hits suck. If anything is hitting this guy hard its killing it anyways, and going before it, so swarm just seemed silly.

609.png

Chandelure (F) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Flamethrower
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball
- Hidden Power [ice]

This thing is a beast. After a rock polish pass, it is only outsped by the rare choice scarfed poke. Only Cobalion and Weavile pose a threat to ohko with a non priority attack. Sucker Punch does ruin the tactic though. Its attack coverage is absolutely sick. Can't think of anything that resists it atm.

Mew @ Leftovers
Trait: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Rock Polish
- Baton Pass
- Stealth Rock
Mews sole purpose is to make chandelure boss. If someone lets me go crazy setting up, I may use stealth rocks. Or if I sense a roar switch in, I use stealth rocks, and cut my losses and try again. The ev spread is to be utilized as a lead passer. I only abort the lead pass if the other team is carrying something sucker punch obvious like Zoroark or Bisharp.

9.png

Blastoise (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Roar
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam
- Scald

This set was suggested by Moo, and he knows what he is talking about. It works perfect on this team. Hazards really mess up chandelure and darmanitan. As does Water attacks and Earthquake. This guy sponges those pretty decently.

555.png

Darmanitan (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Flare Blitz
- Brick Break

More often than not I have led out with this guy. Most ppl in UU lead with a psychic. Either they switch or take a super effective U-Turn. Either way I start with the upper hand. If they switch they usually bring their Darm counter out, which lets me take it out and wreak havoc later with Flare Blitz.

Um, this is a tad hard to read.

1. Would you mind editing your sprites so we don't have to click on the links, please?

2. I'd like to know the point of each set. You lack detail, and it's jarring to have to try and figure out what each 'mon does.

Hey, I've got a few suggestions for your team.

Mismagius really isn't needed here, because Psychics and Ghosts are well covered by Weavile, Chandelure and Escavalier, not to mention that you already have a more powerful choice scarf user in Darmanitan. You said it wasn't pulling its weight anyway, so you'd be better off replacing it with something to benefit your team more. Your team is good, but it's very weak to Stealth Rock, and hasn't got anything to take on physical attackers. I suggest replacing Mismagius with Blastoise.

Blastoise (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Roar
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin
- Scald

Bulky Water-types are really important in UU, and they can really support a team with their typing and ability to tank attacks. With Blastoise, you have a decent switch in to physical attackers that might overwhelm you, and you can keep Stealth Rock away, which is useful because half of your team is weak to it.

Escavalier is a brilliant Pokemon, but it's just too slow to make decent use of Swords Dance. I suggest trying out a Specially Defensive set. All you have to do is change the EV spread to 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpDef with a Careful nature. Then just replace Swords Dance with Toxic, and definitely run Megahorn over X-Scissor. The extra power that you get with Megahorn is much more appreciated, because you can hit bulkier Pokemon like a truck, not to mention it's its best STAB attack by far. Changing Escavalier to the specially defensive set will give your team more balance, and also give you an answer to most special attackers, similar to what blastoise does with physical attackers.

On Chandelure, you should use Leftovers as its item. This will give it some decent recovery, which will come in useful if you fail to get rid of Stealth Rock. You might miss the extra power, but if you're passing it a Nasty Plot, then a 20% boost won't make much of a difference anyway!

Good luck with the team, I hope I helped!

thanks moo! Great tips. I changed Escavalier and he's working great. I swapped Mismagius for a stall sableye, I want to try out. I also dropped Weavile for Blastoise and it's working well so far.

HeeellloooO!!

Looking at your team, you really have to play very carefully and predict very well with opposing chandelure.

When it gets a free substitute, which it do very easily on mew, escavalier, blitz-locked darmantan and as well as totally walling your sableye's set, it looks like good game. Chandelure's energy ball also thoroughly 2HKOs your Non-Specially defensive blastoise as well. Because of this you may want to shuffle you EV spread around to cater for chandelure or if you want a better counter I suggest running a Scarfed Flygon over Damanitan.

It still has u-turn to hit pyschic leads while also making your team less hazard susceptible. It's levitate ability also lets you gain a earthquake immunity which you lost when replacing mismagius giving it better synergy that darmanitan does. The ice weakness can easily be catered for.

Without Blastoise or to some extent Darmanitan, Houndoom takes a shit all over your team. Easily dispatching of your team with its stab moves, Pursuit, Sucker Punch and Fire Blast. To remedy this I would strongly recommend a fighting type such as Hitmontop or offensive Cobalion to check Houndoom or you should consider another strong priority user such as CB Azumaril (or again Hitmontop). Also consider making Mew support and slap a Choice scarf on Chandelure.
