Hello everyone, this will be my first post as a member of Smogon, but definitely not my last. My name is Boateng and I haven't played PS since September so I'm still currently trying to get back into the UU tier. This team is relatively fresh and I have won the 4 battles I have done with it.

I have always wanted to make a team with Reuniclus since I love his design. He isn't the greatest psychic type to use in the tier, but I knew with the right setup he can be impressive especially with his relatively decent bulk.

I chose Honch a partner for Reuniclus because Honch resists two of his weaknesses and is neutral to one and it can also come in as a high powered offensive pokemon on the physical side as well picking off weaker targets and potentially sweeping with Moxie.

Add these two to setup and effective volt-turn core to push the momentum and control the tempo of the game. Jolteon is immune to the electric weakness that Honch faces and Darmanitan resists 2 of Honch's weaknesses allowing for switch ins to common threats.

Needed a bulky water type because hey who doesn't need a bulky water type. Blastoise provides the team with hazard control in rapid spin and offensive presence with it's Mega Launcher ability.

Last thing missing was stealth rocks and noticing late, my team was quite on the offensive side so to provide defensive support to the team I ran with a screen setup.

Azelf's main job is to get up screens, usually trying to go for the screen appropriate to whether the opposing Pokemon is on the physical or special attacking side and SR comes second in terms of his priorities. So far he can setup screens and rock with relative ease and he can switch out and set screens up again as well as rocks. He's saved me in a lot of situations with his explosions taking out huge chunks in opposing walls or killing them. EV's in SpD to give Porygon-Zed an attack boost.

Oh Honchkrow! Pursuit trappers are honestly lifesavers, virtually all ghost and psychic types are at the mercy of Honchkrow once he comes in on them, as well as doing some extra damage on choice locked pokemon looking to switch out . Sucker Punch for great stab priority on those who out speed Honch and brave bird as strong stab to pick off pokemon and build up Moxie boost. I had roost at first, but I switched it for Heat Wave after my first battle where I realized Mega Steelix and Aggron are just too annoying and I don't want them to be kept around any longer than they need to.

Rapid Spinner was key here since I rather keep my hazards up on their side over both of our hazards going. Scald for 30% burns and cutting down physical attackers my opponent may throw my way. Dark Pulse and Aura Sphere fit as coverage moves for versatility as well as receiving a 1.5x boost from Mega Launcher. He helps dispatch Mega Aerodactyl as so far it has been the biggest threat to my team do to its sheer brute force and speed.

Haven't really ever loved Volt-turn cores, but damn this efficient. The speed and power that Jolteon provides is immense, as well as having immunity to incoming electric attacks that Blastoise and Honch hate is greatly appreciated and felt with Jolteon's presence. At the moment her running HP Ice is one of the sure fire ways I am beating dragon types as the specs boost takes a huge chunk out of them and guarantees their deaths if they are already weakened. Shadow Ball is currently being used as coverage for ghosts and psychic types as well as Rotom-H.

POWER! The other half of the Volt-Turn core. All I can say is POWER! Darmanitan's speed and power OHKO's left and right and he serves his main hidden purpose on the team that my opponent doesn't know about. Kill any opposing Pokemon with physical move sets to aid Reuniclus in late game sweeps if Darmanitan can't sweep mid/late game himself. EdgeQuake for reliable coverage of course, so I won't go to in depth on the move set since it's quite common.

The team leader and late game sweeper of the team who takes the souls of those foolish enough to be alive when he comes in. Magic Guard over regenerator to take burns and toxics and burns for the team. 0 IVs in Spe to take advantage of other team trick rooms and use it against them. This set allows for Reuniclus to win CM wars with the likes of Cresselia and Suicune and kill them with their weak physically defensive sides. if there are no physical attacking Pokemon on the opponents side, Reuncilus becomes a guaranteed win using the opposing Pokemon as setup fodder and winning the game.

I will add threat list as I do more battles with the team. But I will leave the importable here if anyone wants to try it out themselves. Thanks for anyone who rates the team and leaves suggestions.

hey dude very interesting team you've got here, voltturn is really powerful as it can force your opponent to continuously have to switch in on hazards on mons they depend to check other members of your team. but there is one major glaring problem with the team. you have 1 dark resist and no dragon resist/immunity on the team at all. also mons like hippowdon and swampert give you immense trouble as mega blastoise can be easily worn down with hazards and rocks and honchkrow doesnt want to switch in on them for fear of ice fang or burn respectively. for these reasons i think you should use whimsicott on this team over reuniclus as reuniclus is a huge momentum sink for your team. whimsicott fixes problems your team has with pokemon like hydreigon and ground types as hydreigon can no longer draco meteor/dark pulse freely all over your team for fear of whimsicott. whimsicott also gives you a mon that can spread paralysis and a fast priority encore which comes in handy.

You can also use a more supportive spread in 248 HP/252+ Def/8 Spe with Leftovers to take Fighting-Type hits better.
 
This team is very offensive in nature and could use a few adjustments.

  • Replace Honchkrow with Krookodile, the standard BlackGlasses set with 252 Att / 252 Spe w/ Stealth Rock, Earthquake, Knock Off, and Pursuit. Krookodile is faster, has Intimidate for more subtle defensive pressure, and better offensive typing - otherwise, your team is COMPLETELY volt-turn bait
  • Consider replacing Jolteon with Heliolisk, which can afford to run Life Orb and has a better movepool with STAB Hyper Voice and coverage moves like Grass Knot, Surf, and Focus Blast.
  • Subsequently, replace Azelf with Bronzong, providing you with a bulkier and hopefully more longterm screen setter, with the Steel typing helping against Shaymin and Mega Sceptile, which otherwise hurt your team.
  • Change Blastoise's spread to outspeed Nidoqueen, which, iirc, is something like 224 speed (give or take). Point is, you want to outspeed 251, which is Modest Nidoqueen's Max. Otherwise, Nidoqueen hurts your team.
  • Smart play with the 56 EVs into SpD for Reuniclus, this will give you more opportunities to take on Hydreigon, however, I think Reuniclus is the wrong Win Condition for such an offensive team... Consider using a bulky DD Salamence set with Roost. I use one on one of my teams, it looks something like this:
    • Salamence @ Leftovers

      EVs: 248 HP / 64 Atk / 120 Def / 76 Spe
      Adamant Nature
      - Dragon Dance
      - Dragon Claw

    • Mence will retain a Mienshao counter, especially with Intimidate and Roost.
 
Thanks for replying you two, seems the team could do a lot more work than I had previously anticipated. I do have to agree that Knock Off and Dragons are thorns to the team punch holes throughout the battle. I'll try to incorporate the suggestions by you two above on two separate teams and run some test battles with those suggestions.
