What's good with it y'all. Like most shitposting goons in rmt right now, this is my first rmt for this gen. I have grown a lot since the last rmt I did (literally and figuratively!) and I just wanted to see how one of my favourite creations so far can be improved. There are a lot of weaknesses you can see of the rip, but it has some fun mons I haven't tried out yet that are really fun to use.
Overall, I’m having a good time with gen 8 and when dynamax is getting banned and other tiers are going to be formed, it'll be even better imo!
(End of the needlessly long intro)
The team consists of one (maybe even 2) heat pick(s), one cleric, one rocker, one great ass darm check, a boy that was in previous gens but I haven't used yet because he always gets banned, and no wincon at all!
Let's kick thing off with the man of the hour:
Flapple @ Choice Band
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Outrage
- Grav Apple
- Sucker Punch
80% of the time, this pokémon kicks ass 100% of the time. Although I think Appletun will be the better pokémon in the competitive sense, and DD is probably the better set on this, as soon as I saw this set on joeys guide I know I had to give this a shot.
Aaaaaand it's...pretty inconsistent to say the least. The this DD has for it is that it's a better user of Dynamax with it on HO, because you buff your speed and you don't miss attack because of the hustle.
However, this pokémon does fit my general preference of playstyle very well:
Step 1: Voltturn in a strong attacker
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit
One of my favourite playstyles in PU was to use Eelektross or Silvally-Fairy to gain momentum and get in a mon like Specs Drampa to put the hurt on. It is just my preferred playstyle, that just how to be. And this boy can hurt something for sure.
U-turn is of course to grab momentum, Outrage is just a strong nuke to click if you just want to clean up the remaining mons on your opponents team (be care full for fairy-types and resists that threaten you) and Sucker Punch is great for revenging Pult and G-Darm (56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock)
Grav Apple is a nice spammable move since it drops the def of an opponent, so Flap can attempt to break through walls like Pex.
Pretty funny mon to use, don't hate me for it pls just wanna use some new heat mons.
Rotom-Heat @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Thunder Wave
- Volt Switch
- Overheat
This thingy is low-key pretty anti-meta. Deals with Ferro, Pex (watch out for scald tho) , Corsola, Rock Slide-less Exca, Corvi, Togekiss and of course, Darm. Nasty Plot is a great new tool in the kit since it can be used one the switch to deal more Volt Switch since Volt is, of course, a move that cannot really 2HKO something because it switches you out. This way you are dealing more damage to bulkier stuff. T-wave is nice for speed control since this is a pretty slow team. Like I already mentioned, Volt Switch is probably my favourite move, man, I just love dipping to bring in one of the big dogs. Overheat'll probably cook some chivalrous turkey, as well as darm.
Speaking of darm, this team is overall pretty anti-darm. Rotom is one of the better checks to it, and some other stuff later down the line, deal with it pretty well.
As a wise man ones said: 'It ain't shocking that my bars are fire cause I Rotom Heat/'
Seismitoad @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Protect
- Earthquake
I got tears in my eyes from the fact that this thing is finally a top threat. Who would've thought that 00Toad of all things would be the new supreme rocker? I really liked to use this mon in gen 7 ou, someone recommended me to use him on one of my team, which I've also made a rmt for. This thing makes a great core with Rotom-H since it is a great DVish switch-in and wears down bulkier checks with Toxic+Protect and Stealth Rocks.
I know that a lot of people don't value hazards that much anymore because of the boots, but not all pokémon use that item tho. Stuff like Corsola needs it eviolite and offensive stuff like Darm and Pult rather run items to improve their offensive prowess.
If I'm being real, I generally don't like to run 2 different status conditions on my team because I don't wanna accidentally hit something with para, like a wall, that I would rather hit wit Toxic.
S/O the agency
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder Wave
- Wish
- Protect
- Moonblast
More para-spam, healing for the toad and the oven and somewhat of a hydra check. I really like LO Clef, which is looking like the premier Clef set in this gen, but Wish-passing is still pretty valuable since a lot of mons lost their recovery like Rotom's Pain Split. Personally, I don't like to use stuff that I would hate facing myself, but then again, I got like 3 teams already with Sub NP Hydreigon, so I should probably shut my lying-ass up.
Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
- King's Shield
- Shadow Ball
- Close Combat
- Flash Cannon
Nice steel-type to aid my fairy clef with all it needs. I am really happy that this thing got nerfed, because I have never used it before, in OU nor Ubers, and I like this goon a lot. I don't feel the need to run Sneak on this, since I've got enough Speed control between para-spam and other priority on the team, and I like to have CC as an alternative way to hit Ferro, as well as Ttar and Hydreigon. Flash is pretty mandatory on this set for dealing with Fairy-types. Shadow Ball is just a pretty free to click move, most thing that wanna switch in either fearing CC or Flash Cannon.
Happy I tried this thing out at last.
Conkeldurr @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 236 HP / 252 Atk / 20 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Mach Punch
- Drain Punch
- Defog
- Thunder Punch
What if you wanna use an offensive hazard remover but don't wanna use Excadrill. Never though that the answer to that question would be Conkeldurr, but I guess that's
where we are now in life. Conk hit's like a truck, revenge kills stuff like Darm, Bisharp, and Hydreigon for my and of course, defogs. Dunno if this is the best way to use him, but I feel like it works better than I expected ones I saw the data mine. T-punch is of course for Pex and maybe Corvi too, but It might be better to punish Fairies with Poison Jab or EQ to have ground-coverage so Seis can run Scald.
Now it's time for a quick threat list:
Toxtricity probably eats this team for breakfast. Flapple: bopped. Rotom Heat: Has a chance to KO with Overheat, but cannot switch in. Seismitoad: Bopped by Boomburst. Clefable: Bopped. Aegislash: Takes a shit-ton. Conkeldurr: Cannot revenge, bopped. Keep in mind that I'm talking about the Modest Specs set.
Sub NP Hydreigon is also rather scary. My best shot is to break the sub and revenge with Conk.
There are probably more things that can handle this team with relative ease, so I might add some more stuff to this list, as well as some replays. But I don't have that much time atm, so you gotta wait a while!
I really had a lot of fun using this team, and I hope you guys to do! This team is a great example of why I love gen 8, I like to use all these new fun most and stuff like Seismitoad can really shine because of the dexit cut. Aegislash being nerfed so it can stay in OU (hopefully) and Conk getting Defog are also really dope things in this gen. Cannot wait until the other tiers are formed to see what will be at the top of the meta in those.
Shoutouts to Joey Pokéaim for the dope Flapple moveset guide and shoutout to the agency. Agency Agency.
