Flash'N'Bash - an offensive nUU RMT

Intro:

Well, I’ve never really been into UU before – not before the merge of UU and BL and not before the removal of the suspects. Before the suspects were removed, I always wanted to get into UU, but I was unable to use my favourite kind of team – offense. Raikou had no offensive switch ins, neither had SubRoost Staraptor, so I had to use something defensive for the tours.
Then the removal of the suspects became real and I pretty much immediately opened the team builder and with the team I built, I won a Smogon Tour and I was in the top 5 of the UU leaderboard for a long time, before I stopped laddering. So now that Tour’s over for me, I think it’s time to post this – an offensive nUU-team:

In depth:

kabutops.png

@ Lum Berry
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 74 HP/252 Atk/184 Spd
Adamant nature (+Spd, -SAtk)

- Stealth Rock

Okay, I guess you know what Stealth Rock does. Hurts stuff to turn 3HKOs into 2HKOs (or 2HKOs into OHKOs lol)

- Stone Edge

Pretty powerful but inaccurate STAB-Move. OHKO’s stuff like Electrode (tends to Taunt/RD)

- Brick Break

Now you may think that I suck. Brick Break has the same base power as Stone Edge, so why use it? The answer is simple – screens. After adding Brick Break Uxie/Gligar/Bibarel was actually fun to play against.

- Aqua Jet

Awesome move. When there’s something hanging on a Sash, just use Aqua Jet. Aqua Jet is absolutely lovely combined with a 4x Fire resistance, easily capable of revenge killing Blaziken and friend (when they’re at 70%). Priority also is absolutely vital for every offensive based team.

Description: Pretty decent lead, as it gets rocks up and still wins against a good amount of leads. Most of the other leads I could’ve used are unable to set the rocks up, so Arcanine and friends weren’t viable for me. There’s one lead I absolutely lose against, and it’s Roserade, but Honchcrow takes care of Leaf Storms and Sleep Powders easily, just to pursue it to oblivion. Lum Berry makes defeating LRcanine and Smeargle pretty easy.

EVs: Max Attack to hit hard, 186 EVs on speed allow me to outpace max. speed Adamant Honchcrow. Rest into HP to take Normal and Flying attacks better.

Team Work: Kabutops’ main way of aiding my team is setting up Stealth Rocks, while still being capable of hitting hard. Also it destroys screens and revenges stuff later in the game, simply a good all-around mon for me.

shaymin.png

@ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Spd/6 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)

- Seed Flare

Fucking awesome, seriously, the most overpowered move in UU. After a drop nothing stands in Shaymin’s way. Oh, it’s my main STAB btw.

- Leech Seed

Nothing new on SubSeedMin…

- Air Slash

Meant to hit Grass types who are shrugging off Seeds…. Only to get hit by a SE Air Slash ^_^

- Substitute

I think it’s obvious what this does on a SubSeeder.

Description: Hooray for the best offensive mon in nUU! SubSeed Shaymin is incredibly hard to take down. It’s bulky as hell, has 101 Subs and can annoy the hell out of your opponent. Pretty Limbo ^_^

EVs: lol, max Speed + timid on a base 100er isn’t new, is it? Max HP give it 404 HP, which allows me to set up a Substitute into Chansey’s face.

Team Work: Shaymin is my bulky water counter mainly. Switches into stuff that capable of walling Blaziken if I predict wrong.

honchkrow.png

Bosskrow (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Insomnia
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

- Drill Peck

STAB-Move, and a good one, but I’m thinking of replacing it with Night Slash, which hits Slowbro, Rotom etc for more damage.

- Pursuit

Run and get pursued or stay in and get pwned by another move. It’s up to you =) PS: STAB-Pursuit kills running Roserades, opening a hole in many stall teams.

- Sucker Punch

Priority is still awesome. Especially a STAB 80 base power priority move coming from 125 base attack + LO <3 Prediction is needed once again, but getting the hang on it isn’t as hard as you’d think.

- Superpower

Perfect coverage rules. Hits Steelix and Registeel for decent damage (50ish). This
really helps, as my team tries to overload them, especially Registeel.

Description: Bosskrow says it all. :D This + priority dominates most teams. With Insomnia it’s the best sleep absorber in the game imo. Helps with Grass and Psychic types mainly, guees that’s the whole point of it.

EVs: Thanks to smogon.com for the awesome split.

Team Work: Well, it takes on Psychics, Grassers and Mismagius pretty well, and it takes Sleep. It also is able to revenge a lot of stuff…. So if you don’t know what to do, go to Honchy lol

blaziken.png

(M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 236 Atk/20 Spd/252 SAtk
Mild nature (+SAtk, -Def)

- Superpower

STAB, hitting Chansey, Clefable and Registeel for a clean OHKO. I decided to use Superpower as Sky Uppercut’s damage output is way too small… also, the rest of my moves is special.

- Fire Blast

Second STAB, hits most physical walls for good damage (Steelix, Spiritomb etc.).

- Hidden Power [Grass]

Slowbro? Milotic? No way. HP [Grass] + Fblast kills Slowbro, whereas 2 HPs or 1 HP + Superpower will get rid of Milo.

- Vacuum Wave

Final slot. Takes care of Kabutops and Omastar in the rain, but it’s also capable of revenging stuff such as Ursaring. Priority doesn’t hurt either, especially when backed up by STAB.

Description: HeYsUp’s Mixed Blaziken. To be honest, I stole it when he posted it into the nUU thread a few weeks ago. This thing breaks through walls, which is extremely necessary when you look at the metagame lol. This mon 2HKOs every standard wall (except Altaria, Moltres and probably Hariyama)

EVs: 20 Speed to outpace standard Milotic, Rest into the attack-stats to pwn walls.

Team Work: Defeats most walls, if not it dents them to open holes in the opposing defense. Together with Shaymin and Kabutops I have some kind of my beloved Fire/Water/Grass core lol. Another interesting fact is that Blaziken’s immune to burn =)

Mismagius.png

(M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 38 HP/220 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)

- Shadow Ball

STAB, hurts like shit if you’re not Chansey/Clefable, Drapion, Registeel or Steelix… gotta admit, that’s much lol

- Hidden Power [Ground]

Decent coverage with Shadow Ball, hits Steels and Drapion for SE damage mainly. I’m still overloading Registeel =)

- Thunderbolt

Another move that scores very good coverage with Shadow Ball. Hits bulky Waters for SE damage, which is important for Haze Milotic (I’ve faced a few who were switching it into me).

- Trick

The crux of this set. Tricking the item onto something that won’t like it is just awesome, as Drapion/Registeel etc won’t be able to wall you much longer.

Description: Standard SpecsMissy. Hits surprisingly hard and demolishes stall pretty easily with Trick.

EVs: It’s fast enough to outpace max. speed base 100s, max SAtk is obvious, the rest went into HP to live through a few special moves at least.

Team Work: Awesome immunities gave him a slot on my team. He replaces Torterra and later on Rhydon. Both worked awesome for me, but I found myself getting swept by fighters way too easily, so I began using Missy with decent success. =)

muk.png

locopoop (M) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Sticky Hold
EVs: 200 HP/252 Atk/58 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

- Poison Jab

STAB, decent chance of poisoning an opponent, what do you want more? =)

- Shadow Sneak

Have I already told you that I love priority? Had Payback here until HeYsUp pwned me by using Espeon… good to have against Mismagius and said Espeon.

- Focus Punch

This is where you have to predict once again. But predicting is not that hard, as it’s pretty obvious that most people are switching their steels into Muk. FPunch does 50ish to Steelix and 75ish to Registeel, not bad imo ;)

- Explosion

OH SHIT-button. If there’s something annoying in your way, send in Muk and blow it up lol (Moltres being the prime example)

Description: It’s a fat violet blob. So it’s similar to Blissey, only the color’s a bit different. Muk also takes special hits pretty well. But there’s an important difference – Muk can sweep. With decent coverage and a good move to take out most mons it’s extremely useful for my team.

EVs: Max. attack is obvious, the HP are meant to hit 401 to take a few STosses by Chansey and Clefable. Rest into SDef to shrug off Shaymin’s and Missy’s moves better.

Team Work: A popular phrase for this is “the glue”, and it fits perfectly onto Muk. (not only because of it’s look btw) This takes TSpikes, other random Toxics, is my main switch into Missy and Shaymin (even though I won’t risk a drop) If it did it’s job, it leaves the battle with a nice explosion, helping to reduce my opponent’s walls (fuck Tomb) even further.

Thanks to LR for this!
Defensive Threats

ArticunoHaven’t faced one yet. SubRoost could be annoying, even though it can’t really switch in.

Blastoise – Missy is the initial switch in, Shaymin is also able to handle this.

Chansey – This won’t switch in until it realizes that Missy is Specs’d. And even then, I can easily switch in Muk and lol at Chansey.

Claydol – Missy to block Spins, Shaymin to screw it!

Clefable– Can be a problem to Shaymin, but it will have problems against everything else on my team. Muk can switch in and try to predict it’s recovery for the OHKO.

Cloyster – lol. Missy it is.

Cradily – Can actually pose a threat if Blaziken should die too soon. Didn’t face many of them yet.

Drapion – Has a hard time switching in. SD-Drapion could pose a threat, but I usually end up HP [Ground]ing it with Missy without losing a mon.

Gastrodon – Shaymin…

Hypno – Honchcrow’s kinda save. Missy can overpower it as well.

Kangaskhan – Can be troublesome, but has a hard time switching in. With my main Normal resist being Mismagius it nearly always kills something before going down.

Lanturn – Muk to take the TWave, Shaymin afterwards!

Mesprit – Honchcrow can Sucker Punch/Pursuit it to oblivion, while Missy has the SDef to take on it as well.

Milotic – Shaymin can “counter” it if needed.

Miltank – look Kangashkan.

Moltres – Ouch. My only way of defeating it is Muk, otherwise Moltres totally rapes me…

Muk – cutie <3 To be honest, if anybody uses my set my best bet is my own Muk. Haven’t faced one of them yet luckily.

Nidoqueen – Shaymin is pretty save, while Muk absorbs TSpikes.

Porygon2 – Never seen one of them, but I guess Muk handles it.

Regirock – Shaymin can 2HKO it.

Regice – Muk anybody?

Registeel – I love this thing to be honest. It’s often meant to counter Shaymin, Muk, Honchcrow and Mismagius. Once it’s knocked out (which isn’t too hard) I pretty much won. No initial switch in, it has to switch in itself first :P

Rotom –Blaziken takes WoW pretty good. I’ll change Blazikens EVs soon, so I’m able to outpace Drapion and Rotom with it. Shaymin also handles this.

Shuckle – Kabutops takes care of it, I put too much pressure on it in general.

Slowbro – Shaymin.

Spiritomb – Honchcrow takes on CroTomb, Blaziken screws WoW-variants. Guessing games.

Umbreon – Blaziken can throw a STABed 120 BP SE move at it :O

Uxie – Honchcrow’s extremely safe.

Weezing – Blaziken takes WoWs just fine.

Offensive threats:

Absol – Generally Blaziken has SE priority. Honchcrow’s faster and resistant to Sucker Punch, allowing him to deal with it rather good.

Altaria Meh, this thing means trouble. Can set up on Blaziken easily and dispatch my team from there. My best bet is Honchkrow with Sucker Punch x_X

Ambipom – Loses to Kabutops, in case he should be running Brick Break to damage Kabutops Missy does fine.

Arcanine – LRCanine stands no chance against Kabutops…. And that’s the most common variant of it. Mixed ones can be revenged by Kabutops or Honchcrow. Somewhat of a threat, but not a big one at all.

Azumarill – Shaymin! Once Shaymin was in, Kabutops is my switch, expecting the Ice Punch/Return (worst case would be Focus Punch/Superpower lol)

Blaziken – Shaymin is faster and has Air Slash, but can only switch in on a few moves. Kabutops takes FBlast like a god and revenges with Aqua Jet. Pretty easy to handle.

Camerupt – Aqua Jet hurts! RPCamerupt can pose a problem if Kabutops dies, but that the usual “if something dies you’re weak to x”-concept.

Charizard – Once again Kabutops kicks in. Pretty fast mon, can be a problem, especially if it’s a Sunny Beaming variant.

Drapion – Can pose a threat, but more often than not it doesn’t. Will switch in on Missy pretty often, from there I go to Blaziken to see whether it’s defensive or not. If it’s offensive I go back to Missy, which often causes lols. After using HP Ground the lols stop.

Espeon – Just another problem. Honchcrow can’t handle it too well, and if Espeon is the SubCMer I’m in trouble, as Muk can’t revenge then.

Feraligatr – Rarely seen, but could be dangerous. Luckily this doesn’t get a DD too easy.

Glaceon – Nobody uses this :x Muk’s defenses are awesome, while Blaziken resists IB and has SE priority. Kabutops outspeeds and OHKOs with SE.

Hariyama – Muk handles this awesome, lol Knock Off.

Hitmonlee – The trouble-hitmon. Why? It often packs EQ. Missy’s def is too pathetic to stand in Hitmonlee’s way, from there it sweeps unless Honchcrow stops it with Sucker Punch (OHKOs @ -1) or Pursuit (in case the opponent is running).

Hitmontop – Intimidate: Missy. Technician: Muk. Pokemon is so easy 8)

Honchkrow – Too slow to do much damage to my team, dangerous though. Blaziken, Shaymin, Kabutops and Missy outpace it, Muk can take a hit and hit it’s pathetic defs with a decent Poison Jab.

Houndoom – Blaziken.

Kabutops – Vacuum Wave niggaz. If it packs Aqua Jet Shaymin’s my best bet.

Leafeon – Never seen one of this ^_^ Muk should get it done, as well as Shaymin and probably even Blaziken.

Linoone -.Let it get a Drum and I’m toast. Won’t get a drum easily (until it realizes that Missy is Specs’d…)

Magmortar – Kabutops (as always). Other options include Missy and Honchcrow 8)

Marowak – Priority defeats it in TR, outside of it it’s lol. Shaymin can work to an extent.

Medicham – Never seen one before, but I guess Missy can switch in on choicers.

Mismagius – Muk and Missy are decent. Even though Muk does better ^_^

Nidoking - Shaymin can threaten it out when it switches in on EQ. Otherwise it’s all about predictions…

Ninetales – Kabutops go! Muk can take a boosted Flamethrower, Honchcrow’s awesome 8)

Omastar – Blaziken. And Shaymin to an extent.

Pinsir – Uhm… weakness. Blaziken can switch in on X-Scizzor, Shaymin can switch in on anything else. Rare mon.

Poliwrath – Shaymin. Muk can take anything barring Drummed Waterfalls lol

Primeape – They’re scarfed most of the time… look @ Hitmonlee. Somewhat of a threat

Roserade – Honchcrow comes in and pursues it ^_^ (unless I see Sludge Bomb coming, then it’s time to go to Muk)

Sceptile – Shaymin will be my first switch, expecting a SubSeeder. If it’s the SDer I can revenge it with Honchkrow. Muk is also decent against Specs’d variants.

Scyther – Pretty threatening, capable of running through my team with an SD… Muk has to blow up then (if this works against a + 2 90 BP STAB Aerial Ace, which I doubt)

Sharpedo – Shaymin once again.

Shaymin – Hmmmm, another “threat”. But it’s a threat to every single team out there.

Slaking - Missy takes Return, Honchcrow can come in after this has killed something and pursue it ^_^ Not a threat at all.

Swellow – Priority ruins it. Unless it packs Quick Attack.

Tauros – Missy can take Normal moves, Blaziken has SE priority. Shaymin works as well. This is no Staraptor replacement at all.

Typhlosion – Kabutops go! Most of the time it’s choiced, so Muk can switch into it as well. (sometimes)

Ursaring – Missy scouts for the set, Blaziken takes the Crunch and uses Vacuum Wave. Pretty slow mon, so it’s no problem.

Venusaur – Honchcrow’s extremely safe ^_^

Judging by your threat list, this team would benefit greatly from a steel type, with Steelix and Registeel being the obvious choices. They would have to go in place of Kabutops, I think. Registeel might be the better option here, as it can take hits from both ends of the spectrum.

Registeel @ Leftovers
252 HP/100 Atk/ 176 Sp.Def
Careful
-Iron Head
-Thunder Wave
-Earthquake/Explosion
-Stealth Rock

This takes care of half your threat list. But, Moltres is a bitch that is extremely hard to take down, and removing Kabutops makes it even harder. So to help, use HP Electric on Blaziken. It allows for a super effective hit on Moltres without compromising on Milotic and Slowbro.

Thanks for sending me the link to this thread.

I've actually never seen a Muk used before on an offensive team. Have you tried HP fight on Missy? It seems to me it might have better coverage than HP ground. I would've suggested Drapion but Muk is needed to soak special hits and I really had no idea Muk had a higher attack stat :O.

There really aren't any recent nUU offensive RMT's this good, so more people more knowledgeable than me should come try to critique it, and people new to UU and who like offense should take a look and learn from it.

This is quite obviously a great team. Great Job on it I really hope to fight it sometime!
