*~**~**~* "Flinchhax: The Team, The Dream, The Experience!" *~**~**~*

Good day my fellow gents, I present to you my first concoction for the XY OU meta. After waiting out a dreadfully stagnant metagame that was BW(2) OU in the more pleasant UU tier, where most of my favorites romped, I have decided to try my luck in the XY OU meta, where the metagame is more easygoing, fun, and allows more underpowered pokes a chance to shine. I chose this team based mainly on my cuddly favorites mixed in with a strategy that works with them, in this case paralyzing everything that breathes and then flinching them to an aggravating death. I have had good success with this team on both WiFi and Showdown with most of the losses resulting from bad misplays. This team is a ton of fun to play with, but I believe it has the potential to be better. Without further ado, lets begin:

I think my username is a relatively large giveaway to who my favorite mon is: Snorlax! Once a terrifying monster that could literally destroy teams literally in it's sleep, he still functions today as an amazing Special wall.

Slowbro is Snorlax's partner in crime and takes physical hits while supporting the team with burns and paralysis.

Togekiss rounds out my defensive core as well as providing my team with a way of healing status and a deadly flinchhax abuser once threats are cleared out.

Jirachi acts as the second Flinch Hax abuser as well as a scarfer to pick off what Togekiss can't kill.

Dragonite simplifies the paralysis spreading process as well as phazing out potential threats.

Excadrill rounds out my team with Hazard support and an electric immunity that isn't susceptible to BoltBeam.

Togekiss @ Leftovers l Serene Grace
Bold l 252 HP/240 Def/16 Spd

Air Slash
Nasty Plot
Roost
Heal Bell

~
Togekiss acts as both a cleric and sweeper, however supporting is her first priority. I only go for nasty plot whenever a substantial number of my opponent's pokemon are paralyzed or knocked out. Her shiny new fairy typing helps stave off a number of physical attacks that Slowbro can't risk to take. The amount of excruciating misery brought upon an opponent from a paralysis-supported Air Slash is simply delicious.

Synergy:

Electric: Excadrill, Snorlax (If special)
Ice: Slowbro, Snorlax, Jirachi
Rock: Jirachi, Excadrill
Steel: Slowbro, Jirachi, Excadrill
Poison: Exadrill, Jirachi

dragonite.gif

Dragonite @ Leftovers l Multiscale
Careful l 252 HP/4 Def/ 252 Sp.Def

Dragon Tail
Thunder Wave
Roost
Substitute

~
I discovered bulky Dragonite in 4th gen with a set of Dragon Claw/T-wave/Roost/Heal Bell and was very pleased by how effective he was. Multiscale only make him an even more sturdier Tank, allowing me to mess around with opponents by abusing subs, lefties, and roost. His main job is paralyzing and phazing threats with Dragon Tail and boy does he put in a lot of work for my team, paralyzing at least 2-3 pokemon per match. His survivability is simply ridiculous.

Synergy:

Ice: Slowbro, Snorlax
Dragon: Togekiss, Jirachi, Excadrill
Fairy: Slowbro, Jirachi, Excadrill
Rock: Jirachi, Exadrill

slowbro.gif

Slowbro @ Leftovers l Regenerator
Bold l 252 HP/248 Def/8 Spd

Scald
Ice Beam
Thunder Wave
Slackoff

~
Slowbro is my counter to Azumarill, Talonflame, Blaziken, Dragons and a large number of physical attackers in the OU tier. He is simply too much fun to use: Switch in, Scald/T-wave on the switch, and either abuse parahax or switch out and recover his health. His only fear is status, mainly toxic, but that should be no worry as long as Togekiss is still alive to Heal Bell that off. As a bonus, Togekiss tanks the physical hits that could seriously maim Slowbro.

Synergy:
Electric: Excadrill, Snorlax (If Special)
Grass: Togekiss, Dragonite, Jirachi
Dark: Togekiss
Bug: Togekiss, Dragonite, Excadrill
Ghost: Snorlax

Snorlax @ Leftovers l Thick Fat
Careful l 158 HP/96 Def/252 Sp.Def/4 Spd

Body Slam
Crunch
Rest
Sleep Talk

~
Oh Snorlax, after the mess you made in gens 2 and 3, Gamefreak has been afraid of giving you anything useful since then. It would be great if you had Regenerator or Slack Off to help with recovery, but it looks like Gamefreak seems content to leave you in the dust. Thankfully his versatility allows him to become a manlier Blissey that hits back, taking special hits that Dragonite or Slowbro can't tank. I tried an Assault Vest variant and while it comes as close as what Blissey could tank, he can't be kept in too long due to not possessing any form of non-status recovery. Rest/Talk, while not the most effective healing method, helps him laugh at burns and paralyze with Body Slam or take down the likes of Lati@s, Gengar, and even Blade-form Aegislash after SR. Thanks to the return of the older sleep mechanics and Heal Bell support, I find Rest/Talk to be more viable this gen.The Evs are tailored to not lose out on crucial special bulk while being able to survive physical hits.

Synergy:
Fighting: Slowbro, Togekiss, Dragonite

jirachi.gif

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf l Serene Grace
Jolly l 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Def

Iron Head
Body Slam
Ice Punch
U-Turn

~
How could I have a flinchhax abuse team without Jirachi to abuse it? Honestly, how can I? With a good portion of Pokemon either paralyzed or unable to outspeed him, this cute harbinger of doom sweeps weakened teams whole while laughing maniacally as they can't hit back. Ice Punch is for dragons or flying types, U-turn is to switch into a counter, Iron Head is well *evil laugh*, and body slam is a rarely used option to paralyze ground and electric types.

Synergy:
Fire: Slowbro, Snorlax, Dragonite
Ground: Togekiss, Dragonite
Ghost: Snorlax
Dark: Togekiss

excadrill.gif

Excadrill @ Air Balloon l Mold Breaker
Jolly l 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd

Iron Head
EQ
Sneaky Pebbles
Rapid Spin

~
With 2 pokemon being weak to SR as well as a glaring electric weakness, Excadrill helps round the team out thanks to his excellent typing and utility. Mold Breaker helps him score the KO on Rotom-W and kill off weakened threats. I play carefully to make sure that he stays alive during the match since I find his utility to be too useful to lose. I chose Iron Head over Rock Slide/Stone Miss since it helps with dealing with Clefable and other fairies that might disrupt my strategy.

Synergy:
Fire: Slowbro, Snorlax, Dragonite
Water: Slowbro, Dragonite
Ground: Togekiss, Dragonite
Fighting: Slowbro, Togekiss, Dragonite

*~*Threats*~*

This guy can give my team problems with a combination of EdgeQuake and Poison Jab if Slowbro is down

472.png
Gliscor gives me a headache once he has a substitute up. It turns into one big stallfest to see who can PP stall the other opponent out.
639.png
Choice Band/Scarf Terrakion can give my team trouble if Slowbro is down, and even then if it has X-Scissor I have to switch carefully to stall out his Stone Edge
More threats will be added soon.

*~*Final Thoughts*~*

While the team is very fun, it also has it's problems that can rain on my flinch parade, most notably EdgeQuake. Most of my threats can be taken care of by replacing Excadrill with Skarmory, but then that leaves me with a 3x electric weakness. I'm also considering adding more physical bulk on Dragonite. I look forward to seeing what criticisms and suggestions you can give to me and my cuddlies.

You seem to have an unfortunate Bisharp problem. If he gets behind a sub, you are in serious trouble, as nothing you have can take a knock off + sucker punch/iron head.

Thanks for the heads up about Bisharp. I haven't encountered one yet surprisingly but he does some mighty troublesome. I've given my team some thought and have come up with some changes to help better take on more common threats up the ladder:

The first is sacking Excadrill for Skarmory, who would help stave off most of the threats on my current list (especially stallscor). I believe this build would suffice:

Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
Impish

Brave Bird
Whirlwind
Defog
Roost

I would still have hazard control AND the added bonus of phazing threats on the physical side, although I will miss out on the stealth rock damage.

Secondly, to address my Bisharp problem, I have given thought to utilizing Mega Mawile in place of Jirachi:

Mawile @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 120 HP/ 252 Atk/ 136 Spd
Adamant

Sucker Punch
Play Rough
Fire Fang
Swords Dance

I find that Mega-chompers will be a much better fit in place of Jirachi due to her being resistant to Knock-Off users (non-quake Stallscor and Mandibuzz won't be able to do anything to it), taking care of Scizor and Tyranitar better in conjunction with Skarmory, forming a better core with Dragonite which will allow her to take advantage of paralysis in return, and not losing out on revenge killing via Sucker Punch.

The only problem at that point would be that I would have 3 electric weak pokemon and no electric resists, forcing me to place more pressure on Snorlax and Dragonite. While Raikou won't be much of a problem for me since Snorlax can wall him for days, Thunderus would become a major threat to my team. Behind a Nasty Plot boost, he can sweep 4 of my pokemon with a combination of T-Bolt/HP Ice.

Thoughts on this? Suggestions?
Any advice would be appreciated

Having a Priority Move like Mach Punch can be very helpful for taking care of Bisharp, as it can help circumvent the Sucker Punch so long as your speed is faster.

Team very similar with "Every day i'm parashuffling", u will probably found ideas if u check it.

Conkeldurr with a full para team can be a real monster.
