Floatzel is a niche but threatening wallbreaker and pivot thanks to its good Attack, amazing Speed, and STAB Flip Turn,escaping its problematic matchups against Milotic, Bellibolt, Goodra, and Altaria. Aqua Jet allows Floatzel to revenge kill faster threats like Salazzle, +1 Paldean Tauros-F, and +2 Rhydon. Ice Spinner targets Grass- and Dragon-types such as Wo-Chien, Venusaur, and Altaria. Tera Water boosts Wave Crash to the point it OHKOes bulky Florges and 2HKOes Dudunsparce and Bellibolt, and it makes Aqua Jet reliably OHKO Salazzle and finish.

Floatzel generally finds itself on balance and offense teams needing good speed control and consistent offensive pressure, finding itself making powerful pivot cores with Pokemon like Bellibolt, Uxie, and Galarian Slowbro. Floatzel is relatively frail and quickly worn down by residual damage, so it appreciates having entry hazard control from Pokemon such as Hisuian Decidueye, Espeon, and Alolan Sandslash. Floatzel also appreciates having entry hazards of its own from partners like Rhydon, Mudsdale, and Qwilfish to help wear down Floatzel's few good switch-ins such as Bellibolt, Wo-Chien, and Houndstone. In turn, Floatzel can help these partners pivot onto the battlefield safely with Flip Turn and deal with faster threats that threaten them such as Hisuian Decidueye, Galarian Articuno, and Paldean Tauros-F.

Aqua Jet allows Floatzel to revenge kill Pokemon faster like Salazzle, Minior +1 Paldean Tauros-F, and Paldean Tauros-F +2 Rhydon. Ice Spinner is good coverage, targetting targets Grass- and Dragon-types such as Wo-Chien, Venusaur, and Altaria. Tera Water boosts Wave Crash to incredible levels, allowing Floatzel to OHKO the point it OHKOes bulky Florges and Copperajah (RIP) and 2HKO 2HKOes Dudunsparce and Bellibolt, while also making and it makes Aqua Jet 2HKO Hisuian Sneasel reliably OHKO Salazzle and finish.
