My goal with this team was to make a workable rain offense team in ORAS OU. I started with Politoed and built off that. It plays like a Hyper Offense team. Here's what I came up with.
I can't seem to get past 1250 on the ladder. This team has some problems with fast grass type sweepers (faster than Tornadus, Ferrothorn can paralyze them) and ferrothorn himself.
Politoed
252Spa/4Spd/252Spe
Timid Nature Choice Scarf
Drizzle
-Scald
-Focus Blast
-Ice Beam
-Encore
An obvious addition to any rain team Politoed was the first addition to this team. I usually use him as a lead to get rain up immediately and I have the choice to fire off a move or encore for one of my sweepers to come in. I have him Scarfed with a Timid nature to surprise and do a lot of damage to unsuspecting opponents.
Kabutops
252Atk/4Spd/252Spe
Adamant Nature Life Orb
Swift Swim
-Aqua Jet
-Stone Edge
-Swords Dance
-Rapid Spin
My priority user, spinner, and utility sweeper, Kabutops is essential to this team. His job is to pick off weakened threats with Aqua Jet, spin away hazards (Sticky Web in particular which cripples this team), and sweep if the situation arises. He's extremely powerful after a swords dance and punches holes in teams setting up for my other sweepers and vice versa.
Kingdra
80Hp/252Spa/176Spe
Modest Nature Choice Specs
Swift Swim
-Scald
-Draco Meteor
-Dragon Pulse
-Ice Beam
Kingdra is my special attacker and wallbreaker. He laughs at physical walls not named Ferrothorn. With this EV spread he can take a few non super effective hits and dole out punishment to the opposing team. Draco Meteor is Kingdra's go to on this set, with the other moves being there for coverage. Dragon Pulse is used to avoid being locked into Draco Meteor and is imperative in some late game sweeps. Kingdra hits incredibly hard and I use him along with my other sweepers to overwhelm the opposing team.
Mega-Swampert
252Atk/4Def/252Spe
Adamant Nature @Swampertite
Damp/Swift Swim
-Waterfall
-Earthquake
-Ice Punch
-Rain Dance
Mega Swampert rounds out my sweepers and is an extremely powerful pokemon after mega evolving with rain up. He's my counter to electric types. He compliments Kabutops, as they weaken each others checks and counters. Waterfall is my main stab on this set dealing massive damage in the rain. Earthquake is essential hitting pesky steel and electric types for super effective damage. Ice punch rounds out the coverage on this set hitting dragons and ground types. Rain Dance is there to keep rain up constantly when Politoed goes down.
Ferrothorn
252Hp/88Def/168Spd
Adamant Nature Rocky Helmet
Iron Barbs
-Stealth Rocks
-Thunder Wave
-Power Whip
-Leech Seed
Ferrothorn is my favorite physical wall in the OU metagame and he happens to fit on a rain team perfectly. Setting rocks, countering bulky water types, and crippling opponents with thunder wave is his game. Rocks are extremely important to this team and Ferrothorn has no problem setting them. Physical attackers hate him and the residual damage he racks up with rocks, iron barb, a rocky helmet, and leech seed is a considerable threat to any team. I use an Adamant nature to deal some extra damage with Power Whip off of Ferrothorns underrated attack stat.
Tornadus
252Spa/4Spd/252Spe
Timid Nature @Damp Rock
Prankster
-Rain Dance
-Taunt
-U-turn
-Hurricane
Tornadus is here to support with Prankster Rain Dance and Taunt and to fire off STAB Hurricanes. U-turn is there for quick escapes. Tornadus does a pretty good job taking on grass types and wreaking havoc on unprepared teams with Taunt and Hurricane. He rounds out my team and Prankster Rain Dance makes sure that the field never stays dry.
