• Icy Wind Chien-Pao is able to utilize its excellent speed tier in order to provide speed control for its teammates such as Landorus, Ogerpon-H, and Ogerpon-W, allowing them to outspeed and OHKO threats like opposing Chien-Pao, Tornadus, and the Ogerpon formes.
• Chien-Pao's primary Ice-type STAB move is largely determined by its partners, with Ice Spinner being chosen for its ability to clear Grassy and Psychic Terrain, while Icicle Crash is chosen for due to its increased power and ability to avoid Rocky Helmet chip that would break its Focus Sash.
• Sucker Punch is chosen to give Chien-Pao a priority option, allowing it to pick off weakened threats or squeeze off an extra hit after being brought down to its Focus Sash.
• Throat Chop is chosen to give Chien-Pao a way of hitting Pokemon like Farigiraf and Indeedee-F super effectively, while also allowing it to attack Gholdengo and Terastallized Ogerpon-H without having to risk Sucker Punch failing.
• The Naive Nature is chosen in order to allow Chien-Pao to guarantee the 2HKO into bulky Landorus.
• Tera Ghost is chosen in order to gain a crucial immunity to Fake Out, opposing Chien-Pao's Sacred Sword, Dragonite's Extreme Speed, and Iron Hands's Fighting-type attacks.
