For the love of...

For the love of...

Hello smogonites… this is my first post on this forum, and as I hope you can tell, this is my UU team. (I swear to arceus pictures will be added later. I swear.) I have been tweaking this team for quite a while, and have had moderate success. It is highly geard towards offence, with the defence (hopefully) being handled by My duo of Pory2 and Qwilfish. So.. without further ado:

Crustle @ Lum berry
Trait: Sturdy
Ev’s: 80 HP, 252 Atk, 176 Spd
Adamant nature
-Shell Smash
-Stealth Rock/Earthquake
-Stone edge
-X scissor

This bad boy is one of the staples of my team, and my usual lead. Depending on what the opponent has, he will attack straight a way ( Deoxys, azelf, uxie) set up SR ( if they have a yanmega or anything else weak to it) or start to smash up. Lum berry and sturdy usually allow two free turns, and they are usually all he needs to start the carnage. He doesn’t even care too much about taunt, as X scissor is usually a 2HKO on common ones such as Deo and Uxie. His evs are slightly random, but I want maximum power, with a little bulk, as well as sweep to sweep with. He tends to get at least one KO, and is very unexpected.

The Roserade wrecker

Sawsbuck @ life orb
Sap Sipper
4 hp, 252 atk, 252 spd
Jolly
-Horn leech
-Swords dance
-Megahorn
-Jump Kick

My main physical/late game sweeper, and when he comes in.. something will die. His favourite opponents are Shaymin, roserade and tangrowth, who all eem to love boosting his Attack with their leech seeds and sleep powders. After the opponent realises they cant do much ( Bar the occasional sludge bmb) they usually switch out, giving me another turn to boost up with words dance. I am considering agilitly here though, as sometimes he lacks the speed to get crucial KO’s. Horn leech is the staple of this set, and even with its so-so bp, STAB and +1-4 mean it will hurt. The recovery is also quite helpful for taking the edge of his life orb or any hazards. Megahorn is to Destroy those grass types who are dumb enough to stay in, and jump kick I seem to only use on normals, like snorlax and miltank, and empoleon.

The No 1

Typhlosion @ Choice Scarf
Blaze ( Flash fire if it comes out)
252 SAtk, 252 Spd, 4 Hp
-Eruption
-Fire blast
-Focus Blast
-Hidden power (Rock)

My favourite Pokemon since… ever. His virtually unmatched Special attack makes him a force to be reckoned with in the tier, and almost everything fears a full HP eruption to the face. I swear, it takes out Metagross, Mamoswine, Nidoking and so many others, outspeeding to boot. He is basically my check to anything nothing else can handle (if hes still alive) His moves, well, his entire set is lifted from the site, but it just works so well. Eruption is… eruption. Fire blast is for when hazards or dmage get him down and focus blast is to hit everything else. Especially those flash fire Houndooms who think they can come in and get a boost. I don’t really use Hp, because I guess that any of his other moves would do more.

Broken as hell:

Alakazam @ Life orb
Magic Guard
$ Hp, 252 SAtk, 252 Spd
Timid
-Sub
-Psyshock
-Focus blast
-Shadow ball

The premier special sweeper in the tier, Lo Zam. HE comes in to absorb some toxic or a burn directed at Sawsbuck or whoever, sets up a sub, and goes from there. His moves make sure he can hit most things at least neutrally, and usually that is enough. I like to save him for last, so he can clean up. He has brought me back from so many losses, I cant count. I don’t really have much to say about him, besides awesome.

The First wall:

Porygon2 @ eviolite
Trace
252 Hp, 252 SDef, 4 SAtk
Bold
-Recover
-Thunder wave
-Ice beam
-Tri attack.
Eviolite. Enough said. This guy tanks hits well on both sides, but I use him more as a special wall, due to his fighting weakness. I used to have a spiritomb here, and I am considering outing one back over qwilfish. His set is basic, come in, take hits, recover and do tiny damage with tri attack or ice beam. I would have toxic over t-wave, but qwilfish already has T-spikes. Im not a huge fan of this guy, but he does his job.

Qwilfish @ Leftovers
Intimidate
252 hp, 212 def, 44spd
Impish
-waterfall
-poison jab
-T-spikes
-Taunt

Again, lifted from the site, but it works wonders. Intimidate, its bulk and mild offensive capapbilities really let it shine. His favourite opponents are Arcanine locked into anything but wild charge, Hitmontops, and milotics. His slow taunts are soo valuable to me getting up my spikes, which makes it much easier to wear down threats like milo, or anyone he cant outstall. I swear, once a hitmontop did 18%... with HJK. That’s good…right? I am considering making him more specially orientated though, and scald may be more useful if I don’t have spikes. He works very well, but I cant help but think a tomb would do well here as well, especially pairing with Pory.

Conclusion:
OK, so or all of you who have managed to get through my entire boring, probably bad thread without locking/trolling/flaming it, firstly… thanks. As for changes, I am completetly open to any changes, aside from the removal of Typhlosion and Crustle.

Thanks again, Scarfclan. (seriously I will get pics.)

Certainly an interesting team. However, I see that you could have some problems with leads such as the super-common Donphan, as Crustle even after a shell smash won't have enough power to KO it before getting KO'd itself. Same problem with bulky waters such as Milotic- basically, you need some powerful grass STAB. Lilligant is a pokemon I'd reccomend, but any grass sweeper will do.

That is what I usually use Sawsbuck for, sd when it uses sr, or just use horn lech. He can take ice shards pretty well, and horn leech helps. Milotic doesn't like saws either, but qwilfish can take it too.

Hey, nice team. I've got a few suggestions to improve it:

If you want Crustle to be a dedicated lead, then you should probably change the set. Right now, it looks like it's torn between a sweeper and a lead, meaning it won't do a good job at either. I suggest changing it to a utility set, since Crustle is a poor sweeper, and you already have Sawsbuck and Alakazam to sweep.

Crustle (M) @ Leftovers / Lum Berry
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 224 HP / 252 Def / 32 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Blast
- X-Scissor

This set will help you set up hazards more efficiently, and can get two types of hazards up. Let's face it, crustle won't be sweeping in a tier where Donphan is extremely popular anyway. Sturdy will still help you against bad lead matchups and get you a few layers of hazards up. Lum Berry can be helpful against Roserade, but I reccomend Leftovers if you want to increase its lifespan. Rock Blast is a good choice over Stone Edge because it has better accuracy and can hit Pokemon like Froslass that tend to use Substitute fishing for a miss.

Bulky Water-types will be a bit annoying for you, because your only switch-ins to them are Sawsbuck and Qwilfish. Sawsbuck will be crippled by Scald with a little bad luck, and Qwilfish can't really touch them. I suggest giving Porygon2 Thunderbolt over Tri Attack. It may seem stupid to get rid of a STAB attack, but this gives it BoltBeam coverage, and it doesn't need to worry about extra power from STAB, since it's a defensive set. With Thunderbolt, bulky Water-types will be more managable.

I like the way you use Sawsbuck to set up on Grass-types, but just keep in mind that Sludge Bomb is a common move on Roserade, so be careful about setting up on them!

Good luck with the team, I hope I helped.

Thanks, and I'll be sure to try that on pory. I understand what your saying about crustle, and I know what you mean, but I have been leaning towards the other end of the spectrum, in making him a full on surprise sweeper by putting eq over stealth rock. And no offence, but idk what your talking about a por sweeper. I know Donphan is a pretty hard counter, but as I've said before, Sawsbuck is excellent for taking him out early in the match. But thanks :) (seriously, crustle stone edge with just a fee smashes, it's ridiculous.

Ok, good to know. I reccomended using him as a supporter because you already had two sweepers and it was a minor change that would help the team. But as long as you're comfortable with it, then give it a go!
