Introduction
I love power. I have also found myself either too dumb or having the wrong mental type to play stall or baton pass or even bulky offense. So really, for my sake, i must use HO. Instead of using the standard HO, however, I decided to modify things slightly over time. Just a few days ago, i looked into haxorus, a poke i had always loved but hadnt had a great niche in OU as a sweeper despite mold breaker and an incredible 147 attack stat. Looking at the Kill-or-Kill thread gave me the idea: banded haxorus. Looked it up and sure enough it was on the choice band/scarf thread as a viable user. Base 97 speed is good, and fully invested reaches a decent 322 speed. Banded haxorus reaches a whopping 589 attack stat, scary for any pokemon. So i decided to make a team around banded haxorus. The first team was a failure, as it seemed to struggle against skarmory to an extreme. I scrached it and decided to rebuild based around making sure i have counters to skarmory, which is really the ONLY poke that can take a hit from banded haxorus.
Teambuilding Process (pls read)
Haxorus+Shuckle+Bisharp
Since i am running HO, hazards are neccesary, as is defiant, me preferring bisharp. bisharp is also a key counter to the Lati@s, which can wreck this team given the right set and coverage. Banded haxorus also loves sticky web, as it isint the fastest poke in the meta (322 is fast however). thus i easily went with the underrated shuckle, a really fun poke to use. can trap and encore, and often get both web and rocks up, key for any HO team. Bisharp is even more important since every team wants to defog with web up as well.
Haxorus+Shuckle+Bisharp+Charizard-Y
Next i needed to have a 100% counter to skarmory. Skarmory is really one of the only pokes that isint 2hko'd by haxorus (calcs are below), and could wall this team to death. I have never had success with charY, but i really wanted to try it for synergy in HO. And this is one poke i am happy about having the weather nerf with.
Haxorus+Shuckle+Bisharp+Charizard-Y+Excadrill
Its a Char-Y. If it doesnt have rapid spin support it is stupid. And i would feel stupid to use defog with shuckle+bisharp, and starmie would be stupid to use in conjunction with char-Y. Also isint char-Y+excadrill+bisharp a common core, or am i making that up?
Haxorus+Shuckle+Bisharp+Charizard-Y+Excadrill+Landorus-I
I wanted another special attacker to round off the team, and i felt that another backup skarm counter was needed, as well as a poke with great coverage and that could kill fairies easily. thus came landorus-I, abroken extremely powerful special threat with life orb+sheer force.

Overview
The Team
Shuckle @ Mental Herb
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Def
Calm Nature
- Infestation
- Encore
- Sticky Web
- Stealth Rock
Mannnnnn, This thing. What has become by far my favorite HO lead from just one team, to me this outclasses deoxys in every way. infestation traps, encore is like taunt, and this thing usually gets off both sticky web and stealth rock. I love this lead. Mental herb prevents taunt, and i can encore or trap depending on the pokemon and switch to the appropriate threat. HO really appreciates this, and Haxorus INCREDIBLY appreciates sticky web support.
Haxorus @ Choice Band
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Outrage
- Poison Jab
- Superpower
- Earthquake
The star of the Show: Banded haxorus. coming from an incredible base 147 attack stat, this thing obliterates almost anything it touches, even the most pronounced and common physical walls in OU. poison jab deals with fairies, but is rarely used. really this thing comes in mid-to-late game and just clicks outrage and watches the destruction unfold. here's some calcs:
252 Atk Choice Band Mold Breaker Haxorus Outrage vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mega Venusaur: 201-237 (55.2 - 65.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Mold Breaker Haxorus Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-W: 246-290 (80.9 - 95.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Choice Band Mold Breaker Haxorus Outrage vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Dragonite: 672-792 (207.4 - 244.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO (destroys even with multiscale)
252 Atk Choice Band Mold Breaker Haxorus Superpower vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn: 256-302 (72.7 - 85.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Mold Breaker Haxorus Outrage vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gliscor: 199-235 (56.2 - 66.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Poison Heal
252 Atk Choice Band Mold Breaker Haxorus Outrage vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mandibuzz: 225-265 (53 - 62.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
none of these calcs involved stealth rock.
jesus christ. this dude is the obliterator.
Bisharp @ Lum Berry
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 168 HP / 8 SDef / 80 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Pursuit
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
Obvious part of the hazards-sharp core, and is essential to this team. has great coverage with charY, Y resists its weaknesses and bisharp resists rock. Decided to run pursuit since one of this dudes key jobs is to take out the latis that could wreak havoc on the team, especially haxorus since it is slower than the more common timid latios (although it outspeeds modest, which suprised me). EVs were for something, and it was a used spread somewhere else, and ive used it forever but forgotten what it was for (im great right?).
Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze/Drought
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Def
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost
I used to think this thing sucked wang. i had no idea......seriously, this dude is a MONSTER when it has the proper team. i had always found it to look better on paper, and seem better, but i could always counter it. well NO MORE! This psuedo-Dragon is a wallbreaker and a holemaking machine (when fire blast doesnt miss). this thing comes in and punches a huge hole in whatever it hits, regardless if the opponent switches. roost over dragon pulse for longevity, as anything that dragon pulse would hit would kill this thing anyways and it wouldnt hit that hard. Dragonite would just likely be carrying WP anyways, leading to an easy sweep.
Landorus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Earth Power
- Focus Blast
- Psychic
- Sludge Wave
What can i say? OUs newest S rank threat (not really) is beyond broken. besides being able to 2hko skarm and ohko ferrothorn, this thing is known in the upper ladder for destroying much of what it touches. Its attacks hit EXTREMELY hard, and landorus has the speed and coverage to rip holes in the majority of the metagame. Man i love this thing ever since i first used it, and it is a needed staple for every HO team that can fit it.

Excadrill @ Focus Sash
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rapid Spin
- Rock Slide
The best rapid spinner for HO PERIOD. Dont even give me dat shit about starmie, which is completely outclassed by keldeo, although both are made of wet paper. this dude is great. he is actually a decent counter against CharX, many people are smart enough to try to set up to +1 while i spin, only to hit with flare blitz, me live with sash, them take 40% from recoil, and then me finish them off with EQ. love it. and this dude is NOT dead weight, another fairy obliterator and a rotom wash counter, and this thing also DOES NOT mind trick scarf (i used to run this same set with adamant scarf)
So i love this team. I want all the feedback i can get. I feel like this is also a great team as support for haxorus, however if you guys have other ideas on how to pick out and kill fairies and skarm for haxorus, please, say them.
