So today, first day of the year i decided to open up my youtube feed and found some pokemon videos that got me thinking "well why don't i play some pokemon? cool game aint it?" soon i remembered why i don't log on this godforsaken shithole of a site. In short i was not allowed to use one of my alts because it was deemed "inappropriate", now now im not going to contest whether my alt name was appropriate or not, I respect the mod's decision, HOWEVER what I'm going to contest is that it's been like 10 years and this game still has a 2005 looking forum in which finding the thread you need is like finding a needle in a haystack, and no PROPER account system on the simulator.
Like imagine being that guy that put 1000 games on an alt only to find out after all that time spent and invested to get a good rating in SM OU has been wasted cause somebody (it was just one mod that thought bad of that name between like 10 of them that saw the name) said their nick was inappropriate because (even if the name was directly the reference to a song and had no explicit meaning) it had the word "porn" in it. And yes, this happened I'm not making up stuff #freepornrocker btw.
I'm not saying to let us do what we want, I just want yall to respect my time and the time of the other players that is invested into the game; because we love the game just like you probably do. So instead of letting me keep my inappropriate name let me have an account system that lets me change name while keeping the rating and not having the rating bound to the fucking nickname of the account but to an "implicit ID", like most competitive games have that and i assure you that "pussysmegmaslayer69420" is not roaming freely in them scaring kids... hell he's probably the youngest one in the lobby. Maybe you can even add an email system for non guest account and have more restrictions for guest accounts so that you can finally vent out the frustrations caused by not seeing the sunlight for too long and be like the totalitarianist leader you always desired to be.
But hey maybe the implicit pact of the respect for eachother's time is not allowed here. It's way better to arbitrarily give an unbalanced punishment hey not everyone spent 1 hour playing the game on their account some get so far as to invest triple digits time in it. Like it's just completely at the discretion of the mod if your hours and hours spent in this game are worth to give you something lasting other than the experience of making it? and don't get me wrong I'll be fine with a ban if the user is actively being toxic and making the game around it worse. However with nicknames it's a very fine line and you will be investing time in it before even knowing that you even did something that 1 out of 10 mod finds to be "crossing the line". Thus making the player mod interaction incredibly frustrating, as rules were not clearly specified, the punishment was way unbalanced in an unfair way, as the people that end up losing the most are not the guys that do troll on the site, but the people that actively play.
And in the end in this way you just can't get people getting to good compromises that make the game a better place for every fucking body, with a proper system mods will have to deal with way less namelock appeals and players will have their precious imaginary points.
On another note autolock is so fucking stupid just remove it, just block the phrase and don't lock, it's so fucking annoying if you are typing a friend or smth and randomly say a joke that contains an autolock word. Oh did i say friend? is that a new word for you?? I'm sorry then i don't have any examples that you can relate to on this one :/
