Forensics

I figure that since there are a lot of high-schoolers in smogon, and most all of us have a level of intelligence higher than that of the average jock, there must be some other forensicators in smogon.

First of all, before you get the wrong idea into your heads, I’m not talking about forensic science, huddling around a small fake crime scene with your little stethoscopes and measuring tape, I’m talking about forensic speech and debate.

If you know/participate in/have judged forensics, then skip the next paragraph.

I do HI, if you were wondering. The explanation on the website doesn’t really do it much justice. We are completely different from DI and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!

So, do any of you do forensics? If so, what event? Any strange things ever happen at your tournaments? (I once had a judge in prose who was texting while we did our pieces!)

Well I did a sort of speech thing in middle school, but I never cared to continue doing it in High school. My categories were Poetry and Prose, although I only did prose the last year our school actually did the program at all. My most memorable experience was probably like, making myself tear up during my own performance, haha. O just remember getting really into it, and thereby performing the best I ever had for that piece, which rightfully earned me my blue ribbon. :)

I don't really recall any outrageous judge stories, aside from the average inattentive judge or like, those who you can see from the beginning have already favored a candidate in the round.
