Foul Gluttony

Foul Gluttony

Introduction: Whats up fellow Smogonites, this is SubakSupreme here and I present to you my first UU team. The goal of the team is to weaken the opposition in the form of toxic spikes while using the team's natural bulk to sponge a variety of assaults. The team has been doing fairly well on the ladder, however my lack of knowledge in the tier leaves me wondering if my team has a glaring flaw or can be further improved. without further adieu I present to you Foul Gluttony.

Team Breakdown:
031.gif

Nidoqueen (F) Item: Leftovers
Nature:Bold Ability: Sheer Force
EVs:252Hp/252Def/4Sp.def
Move set:
-Toxic Spikes
-Earth Power
-Flamethrower
-Roar

Nidoqueen's role on the team is to spread Toxic spikes and to defend the team against the various fighting types in the tier. Her typing is a godsend as it allows Nidoqueen to absorb opposing toxic spikes witch threaten a good portion of the team and if need be to take a stray electric attack. Earth power lets her threaten toxic immune steels types while Flamethrower is to roast troublesome bugs such as Escavalier and Heracross. Roar is my phasing move of choice because i can't afford to have the foe to set up a substitute.

Zapdos Item: Leftovers
Nature: Timid Ability: Pressure
EVs:248Hp/252Spe/8Def
Move set:
-Substitute
-Roost
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power Ice

Zapdos is part one of the driving force of the team by utilizing the infamous SubRoost combo to back the foe into a corner. when nestled behind a sub, Zapdos can pound away at the foe with BoltBeam coverage or use pressure in tandem with SubRoost to whittle away at the foes PP. The strategy becomes practically deadly when backed by toxic(spikes) which may leave the foe the to sac a poke just to break the sub. the reason for HP ice over toxic is to dispose of ground types who would otherwise wall the combo and to smack natural cure Grass Mons.

143.gif

Snorlax (M) Item:Leftovers
Nature:Careful Ability:Thick Fat
EVs: 252Hp/104Def/216Sp.def
Move set:
-Curse
-Return
-Fire Punch
-Rest

Snorlax forms part two of the team's power by using its large Sp.Def to set up in the face of nearly every special attacker in the tier. Curse lax is a monster as with a few boosts under its belt it can easily break through bulkier teams while shrugging off status with his signature move rest. Return is used over Body slam because of Returns higher base power and so that body slams para hax doesn't clash with the poison. Fire punch is the coverage move of choice to bypass steals that wall his normal stab and to hit grass types such as Shaymin witch can be a nuisance. The combination of return and fire punch leaves Snorlax walled by Chandelure; but with a layer of toxic spikes Snorlax can actually use the opportunity to set up while it dies to poison.

009.gif

Blastoise (M) Item:Leftovers
Nature: Bold Ability: Torrent
EVs:252Hp/252Def/4Sp.Def
Move set:
-Scald
-Rapid Spin
-Toxic
-Roar

Blastoise acts as my general physical wall to things such as Arcanine and Bisharp witch could give the team problems. Rapid Spin is a great support move for the team so my walls don't have to take unnecessary damage when switching in to sponge a hit. Toxic a great move to have on Blastoise as he lures in problematic levitating Mons such as Zapdos and Mismagius. Scald is the attacking move of Choice to get a nice burn on a steel type while Roar phases out set up sweepers Such as CM Suicune.

437.gif

Bronzong Item:Leftovers
Nature:Relaxed Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252Hp/252Def/4Sp.Def IVs:0Spe
Move Set:
-Stealth Rock
-Gyro Ball
-Earthquake
-Toxic

Bronzong is doesn't do all that much on the team except sit/(float?) on its ass and set up Stealth Rock. Despite this, its typing is a valuable asset as its ability to take on foes such as Flygon and Rhyperior is unmatched. GyroBall is used to hit decently hard on a faster foe while earthquake is used to maul an incoming fire type. Toxic is more of a filler move buts the ability to spread status is always appreciated.

197.gif

Umbreon (M) Item: Leftovers
Nature: Careful Ability Synchronize
EVs:252Hp/252Sp.Def/4Def
Move Set:
-Wish
-Heal Bell
-Protect
-Payback

Umbreon is the glue for the Team with its ability to pass large wishes and cure status. Umbreeon can abuse its large special bulk to come in on special attackers and use the time to send hefty wishes of 197Hp to a team member in need. with synchronize umbreon can come in on a predeicted status and share its aliment with the foe. This strategy has no draw backs as it can cure itself and its teammates with heal bell. Protect is to ensure it can heal itself with wish while payback is used so he does not become taunt bait. Umbreon must be used with care as the teams physical walls need its wishes to take repeated assaults.

Team Troubles
The team has trouble with Stall breakers such as Mew and Sableye as taunt prevents wish recovery and status spread. Stall is very hard for this team to break through and it often takes spot on prediction to win the match.the team crumbles if Umbreon goes down as powerful physical attackers can break through my weakened physical core with the lack of recovery. Lastly offensive teams utilizing volturn can be an issue as my defenses struggle to keep up.

Conclusion: I Hope you enjoyed the RMT and I am open to any suggestions or comments. :D

Cool team!
I love the use of curselax, I haven't seen it much lately.
Set-up sweepers are also a threat, more specifically Sub CM Raikou. It can come in on anyone but Nidoqueen, set up a substitute, and proceed to boost. After a few Sp def boosts Nidoqueen won't really be able to harm it with earth power.

Machamp is also a huge threat- Blastoise gets trolled by DynamicPunch Hax, and Ice Punch hits zapdos and nidoqueen hard.
However, Calm Mind Raikou is still the biggest threat to the team I see. Your phazers, Blastoise and Nidoqueen, are weak to its STAB attacks and Hidden Power ice. Honestly I'm not quite too sure how to solve this problem... how do you usually deal with it? I suppose snorlax, but with a few boosts Raikou can break through, and If snorlax is dead and the opposing team has a healthy calm mind Raikou then chances are you're screwed... I suggest playing extremely cautiously with snorlax if you see a raikou on the opponents' team.

Again, great team! Good Luck!

Set-up sweepers are also a threat, more specifically Sub CM Raikou

To be honest, I can't see SubCM Raikou being too threatening to this team. Snorlax walls even boosted Raikou quite well especially with the given spread, and Raikou will easily be worn down and stalled to death by TSpikes damage when and if Snorlax is dead. However, what was mentioned earlier - Machamp looks like a massive threat to this team though - perhaps you could put Hidden Power Flying on Zapdos over Hidden Power Ice for help with Machamp, and it also can still hit those Natural Cure Grassers like Shaymin that you mentioned HP Ice was there for (in fact even harder). I hope this has helped you.

I feel like this team needs rocks and toxic spikes to deal with some key threats, yet, there is no spin blocker. I am not sure who would be replaced on the team or with who but it is an observation.

Ah thank you all for the rates.
@Feel The Aura: Sub CM Rakiou has never been a threat to the team as if it is posioned it is fairly easy to stall out with Sorlax. If Snorlax is down umbren can sponge/stall its hits with a wish and protect combo.

@Triangles: surprisingly i have encountered multiple Machamps and they haven't been to much of an issue. They don't last long with toxic racking up on it and the sub variants quicken thier dimise if they sub. plus ice punch is a 3-hit ko on Nidoqueen.

@Blazebat:Yeah there have been a few matches when i would have liked a spin blocker. i would like to implrement one into my team. Suggestions anyone?

You seem to be running a Stall team, and if the machamp player is samrt and rapid spins or uses a posion type to ruin your spikes, your pretty much screwed. I advise Sableye, as not only dose it act as a spinblocker but also one of the most effective physical walls in UU. I would recommend the Prankster set on smogon, as it seems to deal with many of you teams issues well.

Hey ! Nice team !

I agree with Brave : Sableye is a very good idea !

However, on what can we put Sableye :
_ Nidoqueen ? No, T-spikes are so important ...
_ Zapdos ? Hum ...
_ Snorlax ? No, Special wall with recovery, he's good
_ Blastoise ? No, rapid spin obviously
_ Bronzong ? I've thinking about it, but then I remember that Nidoqueen has not access to SR with Sheer Force ability ...
_ Umbreon ? This is your second Fighting weakeness with Snorlax, however Wish + Heal bell are needed I suppose ...

The only thing I would replace is Zapdos but ... I'm not sure =/ Give it a try and we'll see !

Cool team! I will try to fix some of the problems you actually have. First, you should change Fire Punch to Crunch on Snorlax. From my experience, Fire Punch is usually not needed, and Crunch lets you damage Mismagius and Chandelure, both pokemon that can give you trouble.
Secondly, as some people has pointed out, an spinblocker could be really helpful. I'm not going to suggest Sableye, because your team doesn't really benefit of its presence, but a Chandelure instead. With Substitute and toxic spikes, there's no pokemon on the tier that can beat it consistenly, bar Restalk Snorlax. It also helps a lot with the Sableye weakness

Chandelure @ Leftovers | Flash Fire
Nature Modest | 4 Hp / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Substitute / Shadow Ball / Fire Blast / Pain Split

Hope this helps!

Godot, Nidoqueen stays good with Poison Point, so Bronzong is no longer needed. Rest seems like a top-team. Nice first UU team!

Agree with ZoroDark, seems like Chandelure/Sableye can take that place for spinblocking. Chandelure has Clear Smog, not so powerful, but can help with some boosters, Hex abuse thanks to Toxic Spikes by Nidoqueen and also has it's feared STAB fire-type attacks.
