Frantic Monkey! (OU RMT)

Hello everyone! I've been a member of the Smogon forums for a few years now (though obviously very passively :P) And now I've returned as I've recently started playing again. The main reason is I'm a college student now, and I needed an online game that wasn't all too time-consuming... and bandwidth-consuming :) Therefore I intend to become more of an active member now, and even enroll in the apprentice program if I ever get the chance.

This is a team has made several people go 'o_0 lolwut?' on Shoddy and I'm pretty proud of it to be honest. I've always been fond of stall teams (especially TSS) but with TTar behind every corner these days I just got sick of it. This is an experimental team, offensively based I guess. I started with Primeape and built the rest around it. Generally my opponent is still trying to figure what all happened by the time the battle's over. I lose occasionally, but it's not without a decent fight.

Let's start then, shall we?
94.png
@ Black Sludge
Timid - 4 Def, 252 Spe, 252 SpA
*Substitute
*Torment
*Shadow Ball
*Will-O-Wisp

I love this set, to be honest. People don't expect it, find it annoying and generally don't know what to do with it. Gengar really benefits from the Sub-Torment combo with all of its resistances, immunities and speed. Its main purpose is to pass burns around the enemy team. His amazing SpA stat goes a bit to waste, but then again I feel I have enough SpA power on my team. I suppose the popular suicide leads could force me to switch out, but I haven't encountered one yet to be honest (Aerodactyl, Azelf, basically whatever is faster than me so I can't sub).

145.png
@ Leftovers
Timid - 124 HP, 98 Def, 156 Spe, 76 SpA, 56 SpD
*Substitute
*Metal Sound
*Discharge
*HP Water

For some reason Shoddy didnt let me give it HP Ice if it had the Timid nature. Must be something new to the game mechanics I guess, I'm not really sure. This is basically my main Gyarados counter, and Metal Sound makes it my phazer of sorts, as well as increase its killing capabilities. Discharge over TBolt for paralyzing, obviously.

385.png
@ Leftovers
Careful - 108 HP, 56 Atk, 152 Def, 136 Spe, 58 SpD
*Wish
*U-Turn
*Zen Headbutt
*Thunderpunch

Ah, I love this little thingy.
It's hard for me not to include it in teams.
He can pass wishes around, scout, and hax away with Serene Grace.
This one is a physical Jirachi - paralyzing (or trying to) with ThunderPunch and then flinchhaxing with Zen Headbutt.
Should Zapdos be dead, either Jirachi or Starmie become my answer to Gyarados.
After one DD it can't possibly OHKO either of them.
Goes neatly with Gengar and Primeape, because of his ability to heal and x4 resistance to the Psychic type.
A supporter in every sense of the word.

57.png
@ Choice Scarf [Vital Spirit]
Adamant - 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe
*U-Turn
*Close Combat
*Aerial Ace
*Ice Punch

He absorbs the ever annoying sleep-inducing move.
Switches into Breloom with a big grin.
U-Turn is for scouting purposes, when a switch is just too obvious.
Ice Punch rids me of dragons, Gliscor.
Revenge-killer, physical sweeper, scouter, element of surprise, element of awe,...
Primeape fits the description! Vital Spirit is too good to pass up.
Thunderpunch and Stone Edge are left out because I have Gyarados counters already.
Allow me to quote the strategydex: 'Used well, this thing is just scary.'
121.png
@ Choice Specs [Natural Cure]
Timid - 4 HP, 252 Spe, 252 SpA
*Surf
*Thunderbolt
*Ice Beam
*Grass Knot

Eh, my special cannon I guess.
It's fun tricking people into believing it's my spinner
(which is actually Donphan) and then whatever anti-spinner they have gets to eat a full-blown Surf to the face.
I first had Psychic in the 4th slot, which quickly changed when I faced a Swampert ^^".
I haven't used Starmie for ages, but I do enjoy its simplicity now.
Anyways, this little thing takes out most counters to the rest of my team: Dragons, Infernape...
Basically anything that's faster than all the rest and could have a ton of different movesets.

232.png
@ Leftovers
Careful - 124 HP, 96 Atk, 176 Def, 8 Spe, 104 SpD
*Ice Shard
*Earthquake
*Rapid Spin
*Stealth Rock

This should work... but I don't know. I've seen it take over 35% from a Scizor's Bullet Punch. He has support written all over him. Spins away whatever the enemy has set up and puts up Stealth Rock whenever it gets the chance to. Ice Shard is a nice little priority move, Earthquake is there for STAB. Ice+Ground is also a pretty neat combo (although Ice Shard is pretty weak xP)

Final notes:
I feel the team could use a bit more bulk (probably me grabbing back to my old self: defensive play). Gengar especially is a slot that could use replacing, but I'm a bit out of inspiration here.

EDIT: Sorry for the hassle, Haunter! :)

This team is really fun. No Joke. I love it.

There a point worth adressing though.

1. Switch to Life Orb on Starmie or if you want to fake a Spinner then you can go Expert Belt. I think you will appreciate the coverage and versitlity of that item way more than the specs.

2. This team is Skarm-Bliss weak and we certainly don't want that. To remedy this I suggest you change Rachi to a mixed choice Lucario. It goes along with the overall What? factor of the team as I don't think I have ever encountered a mixed Lucario. Here is the Set:

Lucario @ Choice Scarf-Inner Focus
Mild-40 Atk/216 Sp.Atk/252 Spe
-Close Combat/Drain Punch/Focus Punch-Stone Egde-Dark Pulse-HP Fire

Yup. Most Lucarios will run either all Special or all Phyical. This one runs Both. Close Combat is a solid STAB attack. However a Drain Punch on a Blissey who thinks your a Specs Set may be just too fun to pass up. On the other hand the amazing 225 Base Power (STAB included) in Focus Punch may just be for you. Also this Lucario is an amazing Revenge Killer and can finish off just about everything. I put Hidden Power Fire on there to deal with Skarmory. Also, you didn't have one Fire type move in your team. I find that to be unexcuseable as fire is the Best way to deal with Scizor who is the most used Pokemon in the game.

If you want to get a new lead I really like This Kecleon Anti-Lead

Kecleon @ Focus Sash
Careful-252 HP/176 Def/80 Sp.Def
-Magic Coat-Counter-Protect-Sucker Punch

This Kecleon is born to punish Leads Especially those stupid Sleep and suicide leads.
dpiconani482.gif
-Just Sucker Punch it to death.
dpiconani392.gif
-This one is my favorite Lead to face. Protect the first turn to stop Fake out and then use counter as it Close Combats. Then use Sucker Punch to finish it off. Works every time for me (I have had cases when the opponent will SR instead of CC but generally they go for CC with me)
dpiconani450.gif
-you can counter but it will just heal with slack off.
dpiconani407.gif
-Magic Coat the Sleep Powder, NEXT!
dpiconani169.gif
-Crobat requires prediction but you can make it use Hypnosis on itself. I suggest Protecting to scout and Countering and attacking accordingly. I am afraid you cannot magic coat a taunt.
dpiconani469.gif
-see Roserade but Protect to make sure it doesn't run all offensive or just switch since it will probably protect.
dpiconani395.gif
-Another lead this will have trouble against. Starmie shouldn't have much Problem with it though.
dpiconani248.gif
dpiconani376.gif
-You can counter as it will take you down pretty low (maybe to 1 HP) (and Sucker Punch if needed)
dpiconani291.gif
-Sucker Puch won't do much as Ninjask never really never attacks. Sticking Roar somewhere on your team fixes him though. You can switch as he subs and Roar as he BPes (not to many people use him anyway)
dpiconani385.gif
-If you switch to that Lucario I gave you, it can't flinch and can kill it with HP Fire

Yea I think you get the idea. Hope you enjoy my unorthidox sets... Kecleon is such a great anti lead because nobody expects it, let alone knows what it does. His Sp.Def is great alowing him to take Special hits with ease and his EVs allow him to take a physical hit or two. Defensive leads will hold a problem but those are dispatched with my Lucario. Offencive Leads are where Kecleon truly shines.

Nitpick: I suggest screwing the Speed EVs on you Jirachi and putting them into defence.
Once again amazingly cool team. On the cool scale of 1 to 10 this team weighs in at about 15.6

First off, though irrelevant; I also love this team.

-Why does Primeape have Aerial Ace when Ice Punch wrecks Breloom already?
-The team could use a bit more bulk. Perhaps a bulky Rotom over Gengar, to also counter Scizor better?
-I prefer LOstarmie for its versatility, but yeah with Specs it can pretend to be a leftover-spinner when it switches in.
-Mixed Lucario? Doesn't regular SDlucario deal with Skarmory decently already? Also, I would not recommend another choice item. Three choice items is pushing it, especially when your bulky switch-ins aren't really that bulky.

Thanks guys :D I will try your suggestions tomorrow, because I'm going to bed now.

I appreciate the props :)

Not too shabby. I like the deceptive Starmie strategy.

Gengar should use Hidden Power Fire over WoW to annihilate Scizor and Foretress. Focus Blast should be considered since it can handle Tyranitar and Heatran, two very common Pokemon.

If you're going to give Zapdos a Sub set, it is usually a good idea to run Roost so he can get back some HP and keep Subbing. Stealth Rock hurts him but Roost gets rid of that damage. While Discharge has a good Paralysis rate, Thunderbolt is the better attack damage-wise and should be used because of that. If it's paralysis you're after, just run Thunder Wave. Heat Wave is simply too good to pass up since it handles Steel types and Grass Types so well. Try this moveset: Substitute, Hidden Power Ice, Thunderbolt and Heat Wave. Great coverage but leaves you nothing to heal with other than Lefties.

If you're trying to (ab)use Jirachi's flinching ability, run Iron Head over Zen Headbutt. Iron Head has a 30% chance to flinch compared to Zen Headbutt's 20%. 60% is a lot better than 40%. And if you really want to piss off opponents, run Thunder Wave.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
EV's: 240 HP, 160 Defense, 76 Special Defense, 32 Speed
Nature: Impish

Wish
U-Turn
Iron Head
Thunder Wave/Body Slam

If you already have 2 answers to Gyarados, you can afford to drop Thunderpunch. The choice between T-Wave and BS is if you want guaranteed Paralysis or to do some impressive damage and likely get paralysis. Paraflinch Jirachi is incredibly handy to have.

Primeape is pretty good but Aerial Ace can be replaced with another move. Earthquake is the most popular move in the game for a reason and should be heavily considered for the position as it deals with Electric and Poison types. Ice Punch covers most Flying types so Stone Edge wouldn't be as useful. Punishment is a good option since it lets you hit Ghosts expecting to absorb a Close Combat or Earthquake and is devastating to Calm Mind users.

Starmie should probably go with a Life Orb so more than one move can be used. I recently tested one out after it was recommended to me and it hasn't disappointed yet.

I'm not sure about the majority of your EV spreads but give Donphan as much power as possible. 252 to attack and give him an Adamant nature. He won't be outspeeding much so ignore Speed EV's. Give him plenty of Defense EV's so he can withstand a priority move or a decent hit. Run Assurance since you'll want a move to hit the popular Rotom and Levitate users because Ice Shard won't do the job all the time, and Assurance is much more powerful after SR damage to the switch-ins. Since Starmie (Primeape, too?) usually appears before Donphan and carries an Ice attack, it has those weak to Ice covered already so you can drop Ice Shard.

Donphan @ Leftovers
Nature: Adamant
EV's: 252 Attack, 52 HP, 204 Defense

Earthquake
Assurance
Stealth Rock
Rapid Spin

Well, I hope that helps you. Neat team all around :)

I switched Primeape's AA for Punishment (why the heck did I give it to him anyway...).
The Kecleon sounded pretty nice, and I gave it a shot, unfortunately with very little success. I might try to add in a Porygon2... I always liked those and it offers a VERY nice counter to Heatran/Gyarados/Vaporeon/whatever. It's capable of doing what Kecleon does, only better.

I will try and squeeze in Heat Wave (Zapdos) or HP Fire somewhere, because Scizor's U-Turn really hits me hard and there's not much I can do besides return hits with sheer power instead of wit.
