[OVERVIEW]
Froslass makes for a capable wallbreaker thanks to its usable Attack and great Speed tier combined with its unique typing. It also has access to utility moves such as Trick and Spikes, allowing it to cripple and overwhelm its answers; it can even run a dedicated Spikes set, although it becomes much weaker without a boosting item. However, its below average Attack often leaves it over-reliant on its own Spikes to get past defensive behemoths like Vaporeon and Regirock, while its typing and bulk leave it easily revenge killed by faster threats such as Talonflame, Choice Scarf Togedemaru, and Sneasel as well as priority moves like Sucker Punch and Accelrock.
[SET]
name: Choice Band
move 1: Poltergeist
move 2: Triple Axel / Icicle Crash
move 3: Trick / Ice Shard
move 4: Spikes
item: Choice Band
ability: Cursed Body
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
Triple Axel is a strong, albeit unreliable, STAB move. Icicle Crash is an option, as it's more reliable despite being weaker; it also avoids Rocky Helmet and Flame Body from the likes of Sandaconda and Talonflame. Trick allows Froslass to cripple its answers such as Scrafty and Aromatisse, while Ice Shard allows it to revenge kill foes like Ribombee. Despite seeming odd on a set using a Choice item, Spikes lets Froslass take advantage of the many Pokemon it forces out. Froslass's subpar bulk means it appreciates being brought in via partners like Heliolisk and Passimian; the former can also take advantage of Vaporeon while the latter acts as a Defog deterrent, and they both appreciate the Spikes Froslass sets. Pokemon like Quiver Dance Ribombee and Dragon Dance Charizard have an easier time cleaning late-game after Froslass has weakened down walls such as Regirock, Vaporeon, and Silvally-Steel.
[SET]
name: Spikes
move 1: Spikes
move 2: Taunt
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Shadow Ball
item: Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Cursed Body
nature: Jolly
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
Froslass's great Speed and typing make it a potent Spikes setter, as it's capable of pressuring common spinners such as Tsareena. Taunt prevents Pokemon like Articuno from recovering and also allows Froslass to keep its Spikes on the field against Defog users like Silvally-Fairy. Wallbreakers like Magmortar and Virizion greatly appreciate the Spikes Froslass sets, as it gives them an easier time breaking through defensive behemoths like Gigalith and Garbodor, respectively. They can also both pressure common Defog users that Froslass struggles against like Silvally-Steel and Charizard. Pokemon like Regirock, Weezing, and Lanturn can switch into threats such as Lycanroc, Choice Scarf Passimian, and Talonflame that force out Froslass, respectively.
