Full Course Meal [OU]

...I suck at OU. I can make predictions and calcs during play, but my team building lacks foresight. This team is team I have been using for at least a full year now- so granted it's a bit outdated.

Main Course (Dragonite) @ Leftovers
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Careful Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Roost
- Dragon Tail
- Substitute

The team starts with Dragonite... so it obviously is the Main Course. A support dragonite set that I am very very proud of. It hardly takes advantage of it's monstrous attack, and it neglects the law of priority... but it works so well! Either way, it creates great support/phasing. At multiscale max, it can take an unboosted anything from OU, that includes an HP ice from Chandelure. This set is non-negotiable for me, as is this spot. Anyway, I of course was in desperate need of ice coverage...

Beverage (Tentacruel) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Spd / 240 SDef
Calm Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Substitute
- Scald
- Ice Beam

So I added myself a Tentacruel. It kills 3 birds with one stone... ice coverage, rapid spin for stealth rocks, and a beverage for the meal. It's a pretty standard set minus toxic spikes... I thought about putting them on, but valued the ice beam coverage rather than the off chance that I would only get one layer up, and my Dragonite is rendered useless.

Entre (Infernape) (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Blaze
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SAtk
Hasty Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Close Combat
- Overheat
- Stone Edge

Hey if my Tentacruel won't set up, I need SR at least right? So what do I get? A Jirachi? A metagross? A ferrothron? A fortress? NO. I get myself a motherfucking Infernape. Being my only method of set up, it remains my Entre, and proudly flagging his sash, gets his rocks up save the seldom scarfed Cloyster (as if something like that actually works). But seriously, against unprotectead teams it actually makes a great sweeper, or at least can leave a momento of damage on pretty much anything. The stone edge for coverage might need replacing though... I'd like to keep the overheat and CC for Physical/Special coverage with STAB. Overheat > Flare Blitz because obviously sash, but also threats like Skarmory and sometimes even Fortress/Ferrothorn, plus in blaze range, Infernape can still dish out, despite being as -2. This thing is an entre served... ON THE ROCKS!!!

Salad (Celebi) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Heal Bell
- Recover
- Leech Seed
- Leaf Storm

As far as OU goes, I can't stand being statused... which leads me to need a heal bell/Armoatheropy. Now... this is were I get a little (scratch that, a lot) idiotic using Celebii > Blissy/Chancey because of the name salad... but just as well I can live with having eggs Benedict or something on my team. But either way, my team doesn't go so well against synergetic momentum gaining U-turn Volt Switchers so having a Celebii doesn't really help. This set doesn't work great... my preference is to use trick with a flame orb, paired with natural cure it works well... but without leech seed it doesn't wall so great, and then I would have to replace Leaf storm with giga drain, and that might just fail... but please, really need to do something about this.

Desert (Alakazam) (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Focus Blast
- Psychic
- Charge Beam
- Substitute

I'd say this thing is pretty standard- basic LO sweeper. The lack of priority on my team makes it susceptible to ice shards and mach punches- but it handles itself. I use Charge Beam > Calm Mind because I find the Special Defence worthless, but because of the 90% hit rate, I might consider switching... plus the ground type immunity and the fact that there is only 50% hit. Otherwise, I may consider losing Sub for Shadow ball or Energy Ball, and may switch Focus Blast for encore. Either way, it's a desert so intense, it takes 2 spoons to master.

Today's Special (Salamence) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Aqua Tail
- Shadow Claw

Now, this team is obviously waiter themed, however I used to complete it with a revolving special based on the day/week. So I tried every single smogon set of Dugtrio, Scizor, Rotom-W, Magnezone, even Cloyster. Finally when I made this a solid team, I realised I needed sweeper... and scarf moxiemance was just too tempting... this spot is completely open for trial. I was thinking maybe IF I replace Celebii with Breloom, I might make this spot into Lucario or Landorus-T, but if I don't I might just make this a Lucario/Terrakion.

Thoughts? I'm in need of desperate help...

Hello! :)

1. Change Tentacruel's ability to Rain Dish to heal itself when facing rain teams. Since it really won't stay and and sweep Clear Body seems useless.
2. By the looks of it Alakazam is one of your sweeper Pokemon. If that's the case then I suggest going with Calm Mind over Charge Beam. Charge Beam has a 70% chance of increasing your Sp.Atk while Calm Mind is a 100% chance. Not only that but Charge Beam can be walled by a Ground-type. Also the Sp.Def won't really hurt and will ensure that your Alakazam stays in the battle as long as possible. Charge Beam is mainly used to try to boost Sp.Atk while taking out a weakened Pokemon. If you still want to go with Charge Beam then I suggest replacing Substitute with HP Ice. That way you can deal with Ground-types, Grass-types, Flying-types and Dragon-types.
3. Go with Fire Blast instead of Aqua Tail and Dragon Claw instead of Shadow Claw on Salamence. Fire Blast will take out Steel-types that wall your Salamence. Shadow Claw doesn't make a lot of sense on a Salamence. Dragon Claw will allow you to hit hard with a STAB move without getting confused in the process.

I hope I was able to help! :)

Thank you very much! Your input seems valid, so before I tell you what I don't agree with, I will immediately test your stuff out.

1. You were absolutely right about Tentacruel's ability. I'm always afraid of getting a SpD. Drop after Focus Blast or Psychic, but frankly, nowadays, more people use rain teams than the move psychic.

2. I don't understand about your Salamance comment though, are you saying I should split investment from physical and balance out with special? If so, should I still be scarfed, and should I put intimidate over moxie? Should I change it to a special set entirely?

3. I'm glad somebody told me to switch to Calm mind- Charge Beam was driving me crazy! (Can't even take out SpD. Politoed at 20% with a charge beam) I used to use Alakazam as a charge beam revenge killer, but I guess your right- calm mind is the much safer option. Because I'm not the sash set, I think I'll stick to substitute > HP ice though.

4. If I switch Celebii to Breloom, should I run Techniloom or Poison Heal sub punch spore? Either way- I think I'm switching the set to trick with a flame orb.

Again, thank you for invaluable input.
