Hi guys. This is my first RMT.
After some time away of OU, and borred with all have been happening(sorry about, english is not my mother language), i decided to try something really different in OU. During one of my several drifts, i thought with my self: why not trying a completely stall team? I mean, i tired of balanced, offensives, hyper something, teams all over here.
My only experience with stall was last gen in lower tiers, so how would be a full stall in OU? Well, until now, not too bad. I mean, 1500 for my first OU team in this generation is not that great, but for something that i dont have to much familiarity, i just doing well so far. Unfortunately, a lot of people dont like stall, and i feel this hate with all "nice words"during or after some battles.
So, without further ado, here the team:
Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Toxic
- Recover
- Protect
Honestly, any stall team needs that Unaware piece. I mean, without it, i would be a easy prey for any setup sweeper. The set is one of the most common, and also so much effective. I run def over sdef because i use Chansey as a dedicated special wall. The immunity for electric type is a plus in Quag, stoping threatening like Rotom, Zeraora(physical variants), Excandrill, Azumarill, Scizor. Of course the 4x grass weakness is a huge problem, mainly with Rillaboom so much present nowadays. That´s why my next mon.
Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Mirror Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Defog
- Body Press
- Roost
- U-turn
My dedicated defog wall. Defog is just need that much, stall teams switch too much and i cant afford not to have one. Plus, the wall threats like Rillaboom, Excandrill, scarf Ushifu. Also can give Ferrothorn some problems if the set without leech seed. This set i think it is most effective. I used taunt over Body Press, but i was using rarely taunt, so i switched to at least cause some problems against some mons. Of course the fire weakness is a problem, so here comes the next mon to help mitigate this:
Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Haze
- Scald
- Toxic Spikes
- Recover
I hated this thing a lot last gen. As i already know all the selling points of this mon, i just put it in this team without second thoughts. Haze is a must if a lost Quag. Scald is a much and i love that switch in who sacrifices one of his mons to burn. Recover for more stall. Toxic spikes is for more pressure than anything else. I already realize i use fewer times, but helped me in some battles, so i decided stay this set. Of course i stll need other hazards, so my next mon fill this purpose:
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Knock Off
Stealth rock and spikes setup. Any stall need to put one of this things in field. Really hard win anymatch without any of them. Leech Seed is a must for most commons defoggers in tier(Corvi and Mandi). In the 1vs1 i can just keep put SR or spikes and keep slowing recovery any damage and saps enemy. Knock off is a key move. There are a lot of heavy duty boots around here. So, what happened if they lost all precious boots? Also is always nice remove any item.
Chansey (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Toxic
- Wish
- Seismic Toss
- Protect
Wisher pass and special sponge. The utility of Chansey is huge. Wish to any other member, plus toxic and seismic toss is a deadly combination, even against some setup like Calm Mind Clefable, Nasty Plot Hydreigon, Nasty Plot Rotom. The EVs seen a little odd, mainly because i dont have Counter, but with this Chansey can survive some physical assaults too.
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Soft-Boiled
- Moonblast
- Flamethrower
- Heal Bell
Honesty, this last mon is the one i feel i can change. Do not take this wrong. It is great, mainly for mind games, until the opponent realize which sets i run. I put the common Solf-Boiled, Moonblast works incredible, mainly in 1vs1 against dragons and Urshifu, Flamethrower is a surprise against Ferrothorn and Corvi. Heal bell is a must for my team not to wear off by status.
Well, after a couple of days playing with this team, i dont know why people complains so much about stall. Sure, this team makes the battle extend a little bit more. But to play stall, one needs so much mind game and correct predict. One mistake and all team falls apart easily and quick.
