Hey guys, I'm here to show you a fun and effective UU team I made with the intention of using a sub/sd/baton pass mienshao. It turned out pretty good.
At a glance:
Weavile @ Life Orb
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Night Slash
- Ice Punch
- Ice Shard
- Low Kick
Weavile is a unique pokemon and it pairs well offensively with mienshao. This weavile was meant to be a swords dance recipient courtesy of mienshao. This works because pretty much all of mienshao's counters lose to a +2 weavile. In practice however I'm rarely ever able to get a sd to this guy since both he and mienshao are so frail. Still, he performs admirably and with his unique dual stab, godlike speed and access to priority. He almost always puts major dents in the opponents team even though his damage output can be a little disappointing sometimes.
Mienshao @ Life Orb
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Hi Jump Kick
- Swords Dance
- Baton Pass
- Substitute
This set is a nice change of pace. The idea is to bring it in on something that it destroys, then use sub on the switch. From there you can either sd or baton pass out to an appropriate counter. It's good because most people don't expect mienshao to have sub. It still hits like a truck with hjk and it can regain the hp it uses for sub with regenerator. A great use of subs is to scout for the opponent's protect. For example, vs umbreon you can sub as he protects then hjk next turn to avoid taking the 50% recoil. Also works against sharpedos that try to protect to get a speed boost. Swords dance doesn't see that much use but it does have situational use, especially against more defensive teams.
Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
Scarf flygon. Nothing new really, I decided to get stone edge over fire punch but I'm pretty scared of bronzong so maybe I'll change it back to fire punch later. If I manage to pass a +2 boost to this thing from mienshao then it gets really dangerous. However like I said passing sword dances is pretty uncommon. Although weak, this thing really is necessary for my team to function.
Shaymin @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Seed Flare
- Earth Power
- Synthesis
Never underestimate shaymin. Shaymin is a monster, it even shreds special walls with its seed flare. Shaymin is a great switchin to all the common bulky waters and is really my only way of dealing with sableye and physically defensive walls. Shaymin has been a pretty consistent pokemon on my team that always does its share of carnage. Another great thing is shaymin makes a great sub receiver from mienshao, since some of its counters will be unable to break it with just one attack, and shaymin is a beast behind a sub. I'm running the hp fire mostly for bronzong and abomasnow, two pokemon who are a pain in the ass for my team. Synthesis over rest so I don't have to switch out after recovering damage.
Crobat @ Leftovers
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 176 HP / 192 Atk / 4 SDef / 136 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Taunt
- U-turn
Everyone knows crobat is great, but I'll say it anyway, crobat is great. He's a good check to the numerous fighting types in the tier. His speed is unparalleled and brave bird is a huge asset. Taunt is also a hugely useful move. Seriously, I don't get why more people don't use crobat, it's amazing. It never ever ever dissapoints me in battle.
Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Trait: Solid Rock
EVs: 16 Atk / 248 HP / 244 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Stealth Rock
- Dragon Tail
Ah yes, rhyperior. He's a solid pokemon for sure. This set is pretty standard, but it pairs well with crobat. He is usually useful in battle. Stealth rock is a great move and his ability to take on a wide range of pokemon is nice. He's basically the team's punching bag.
That's my team, let me know what you guys think.
