Fun Offensive Team

Hey guys, I'm here to show you a fun and effective UU team I made with the intention of using a sub/sd/baton pass mienshao. It turned out pretty good.

Weavile @ Life Orb
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Night Slash
- Ice Punch
- Ice Shard
- Low Kick
Weavile is a unique pokemon and it pairs well offensively with mienshao. This weavile was meant to be a swords dance recipient courtesy of mienshao. This works because pretty much all of mienshao's counters lose to a +2 weavile. In practice however I'm rarely ever able to get a sd to this guy since both he and mienshao are so frail. Still, he performs admirably and with his unique dual stab, godlike speed and access to priority. He almost always puts major dents in the opponents team even though his damage output can be a little disappointing sometimes.

Mienshao @ Life Orb
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Hi Jump Kick
- Swords Dance
- Baton Pass
- Substitute
This set is a nice change of pace. The idea is to bring it in on something that it destroys, then use sub on the switch. From there you can either sd or baton pass out to an appropriate counter. It's good because most people don't expect mienshao to have sub. It still hits like a truck with hjk and it can regain the hp it uses for sub with regenerator. A great use of subs is to scout for the opponent's protect. For example, vs umbreon you can sub as he protects then hjk next turn to avoid taking the 50% recoil. Also works against sharpedos that try to protect to get a speed boost. Swords dance doesn't see that much use but it does have situational use, especially against more defensive teams.

Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
Scarf flygon. Nothing new really, I decided to get stone edge over fire punch but I'm pretty scared of bronzong so maybe I'll change it back to fire punch later. If I manage to pass a +2 boost to this thing from mienshao then it gets really dangerous. However like I said passing sword dances is pretty uncommon. Although weak, this thing really is necessary for my team to function.

Shaymin @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Seed Flare
- Earth Power
- Synthesis
Never underestimate shaymin. Shaymin is a monster, it even shreds special walls with its seed flare. Shaymin is a great switchin to all the common bulky waters and is really my only way of dealing with sableye and physically defensive walls. Shaymin has been a pretty consistent pokemon on my team that always does its share of carnage. Another great thing is shaymin makes a great sub receiver from mienshao, since some of its counters will be unable to break it with just one attack, and shaymin is a beast behind a sub. I'm running the hp fire mostly for bronzong and abomasnow, two pokemon who are a pain in the ass for my team. Synthesis over rest so I don't have to switch out after recovering damage.

Crobat @ Leftovers
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 176 HP / 192 Atk / 4 SDef / 136 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Taunt
- U-turn
Everyone knows crobat is great, but I'll say it anyway, crobat is great. He's a good check to the numerous fighting types in the tier. His speed is unparalleled and brave bird is a huge asset. Taunt is also a hugely useful move. Seriously, I don't get why more people don't use crobat, it's amazing. It never ever ever dissapoints me in battle.

Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Trait: Solid Rock
EVs: 16 Atk / 248 HP / 244 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Stealth Rock
- Dragon Tail
Ah yes, rhyperior. He's a solid pokemon for sure. This set is pretty standard, but it pairs well with crobat. He is usually useful in battle. Stealth rock is a great move and his ability to take on a wide range of pokemon is nice. He's basically the team's punching bag.

That's my team, let me know what you guys think.

I'd say this team has 2 main problems. Firstly, it has a severe weakness to Ice. 2/3 of your team is weak to it (with one 4x weakness) and your only resist is Weavile, who is frail as heck. Secondly it only has one special attacker, which makes it infinitely easier to wall (especially by pokemon with Intimidate).

I think Chandelure would be a good fit for this team, as it helps deal with Ice and Fighting types. I'm not sure on what set you should run though, as I haven't used Chandelure recently. This might work:
Chandelure @ Life Orb
Trait: Flame Body/Flash Fire
EVs: 68 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 184 Spe
Modest Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Fire Blast
- Pain Split/Energy Ball
- Substitute
Of all your pokemon I think replacing Weavile would be the best option, but if that doesn't work then just try replacing other things instead.

Pretty solid team otherwise though, and I really like the Mienshao set.

Thanks for the comment!

Although my team is weak to ice there isn't too much to be afraid of since most of my team can outspeed and ko the rare ice types in the tier. Ice type coverage moves aren't that common, and if stuff like raikou or zapdos carry the hp ice they're walled by rhyperior. That said, enemy weavile are terrifying.

As for the problem with being walled, I've played a lot of games and haven't found any real problems. Every traditional physical wall I can think of gets hit hard by weavile and shaymin both. Crobat is also able to laugh at some walls like gligar, dusclops and quilfish who can't even touch it.

Chandelure does seem like a good idea to fix the things you've pointed out, but I have a hunch it will be one of those "only good on paper" type things. It would make me even weaker to weavile (my weavile is my weavile check lol). On top of that the only things it would help with that I have problems with now are bronzong and sableye, and it would give me a safe switch-in to abomasnow. It is notable that it beats sableye though, because that thing is a huge pain with my current team.

Yea now that I'm thinking about it, Chandelure isn't really a great idea.

Another thing I've noticed is that the team only has one reliable way to deal with bulky Water types. Shaymin is literally the only thing that can switch into a Scald and not fear getting burned, another reason why I think its necessary to have another special attacker.

Getting an offensive Water type for this team would help fix both your Ice and Water weaknesses, as well as not increase any other real weakness problems. Since there are so many options to choose from I don't feel like picking one for you, but I really think that a Water type would help out a lot.
