FWG Defensive Core.

Hello, thanks for taking a look I appreciate it a lot. This is a balanced team, generally the play style is to use the FWG core to weaken the enemy team as much as possible to allow the sweepers to do their thing. (I peaked at 1915, 112 wins 53 loses, and am currently at 1860, 133 wins 74 loses)

Jolteon @ Expert Belt
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Signal Beam
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Jolteon serves as either the late game cleaner or the substitute lead if rotom-w isn't really the best choice, I like the expert belt as it allows me to switch moves with out the recoil of life orb, Jolteon has always served me well, its amazing speed allows it to clean up weakened teams or at least it almost always is able to take a pokemon down with it due to it's amazing speed and decent power.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Rotom-w is my main lead as it can perform well against almost any lead, I run thunderbolt> volt-switch to deal with other rotom-w's as well as a couple of other things, hp grass is to deal with the water/ground types although rare I don't have a way to deal with them other than ferro and anyone that knows what they are doing would switch out against ferro. The Evs are to give this thing bulk while still being able to deal damage.

Keldeo @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Icy Wind
- Hidden Power [Bug]

Keldeo is my revenge killer, I used to have leftovers on it but now it can revenge kill mega lucario and outspeed other scarf users most of the time (gengar is the most notable one that out speeds) which gave this team some issues.

212.gif
Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 SDef
Serious Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
- Roost

Bulky swords dance scizor is just amazing, and with the mega evo it's bulky as hell, this thing is my set up sweeper, I run knock off> the standard bug bite so I can deal with aegislash easily and hit steel types for neutral damage, also I found that every single pokemon absolutely loathes having their item removed, also I can tell what set a pokemon is running by seeing its item. The Evs are to give me as much bulk as I can get while keeping my attack at a solid level of power.

598.gif
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 8 Def / 248 SDef
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball

Ferrothorn is pretty much just a wall that throws down stealth rock, not a lot to write about, it tanks hits and can retaliate with powerful attacks, it also scouts for stray hp fires so scizor knows if it can set up on the pokemon or not, like latios for example. The Evs give me 330 in both defensive stats and max hp.

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Ancient Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Heatran completes the FWG core of rotom-w, ferro, and heatran. This thing absorbs the fire attacks commonly thrown at scizor or ferro and hits back extremely hard. It also counters other heatrans well, and ohkos aegislash while it's in shield form (252 hp/ 0 Sp.def). Ancient power is pretty much only for talonflame but hits a few other threats such as mega charizard Y, mega pinsir, and moltres. The Evs are meant to give me bulk while still being a powerful offensive threat.

Pokemon I have trouble with.

Cresselia completely shut down my team with the help of heatran, only took 38% from jolteons signal beam (it just moonlighted that away or switched to heatran), and could switch to heatran in case of scizor showing up (this was before I put knock off on but that only does 20% to heatran most of the time).

Mega kangakhan can wreck my team if I let keldeo take to much damage before hand

Mega lucario, I have 2 fighting weaknesses and 0 resists and mega lucario out speeds all my pokemon bar jolteon and can ohko most of them. Edit put a scarf on keldeo and now it can revenge kill lucario.

Mega venusaur is difficult to get around as it walls jolteon, keldeo, rotom-w and with hp fire can take care of ferro and scizor, and most teams have a safe switch for heatran, but mega venusaur has thick fat anyway.

Any suggestions would be great, thanks for reading, also let me know if there is anything I can do to make this thread better or more convenient in any way.

Mega Kahn is banned :-/

I personally find Stone Edge as a more viable option for Heatran because youre not going to get the Ancient Power boost a lot. I also find Lava Plume as a better option than Magma Storm. Pain Split > HP Grass as it's Washtom's only real recovery. A Focus Sash is better on Ferrothorn for dealing with Fire-type moves that will OHKO it.

I would recommend spinner support in the form of specially offensive starmie it can also deal a lot of damage to a mega venusaur with psy shock to the point where another attack will be able to finish him off hopefully.

Thankyou for the suggestions, I will try to replace keldeo with starmie, rapid spin support is something I missed, psyshock is a 2hko (51-59.8) on mega venusaur so I'll just have to get it on the switch. Lava plume>magma storm is something I've tried, but I'll give it another shot. Pain Spilt>hp grass might work, I'll try it. Focus sash on ferro? Ferro is a wall it can't do much at 1% plus I don't lead with ferro so the sash is likely to get broken. Also I tend to switch out if I think I might be about to take a fire attack. Stone edge> ancient power doesn't seem to be a good idea. Ancient power does more damage to something with equal defenses with my current evs/nature (252 sp.attack/0 attack/modest), with a quirky nature they actually do identical damage, but stone edge is just less reliable at that point. Some calcs against a rotom-w with 252 hp/0 def/ 0 sp. def

252+ SpA Heatran Ancient Power vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-W: 68-81 (22.3 - 26.6%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
0- Atk Heatran Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Rotom-W: 56-67 (18.4 - 22%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
as for the venusaur calc
252 SpA Starmie Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Venusaur: 186-218 (51 - 59.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Starmie needs a life orb if mega venusaur is fully defense invested (apparently not as common)
252 SpA Life Orb Starmie Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mega Venusaur: 179-213 (49.1 - 58.5%) -- 98% chance to 2HKO
