Garbodor is an amazing physical wall in ZU thanks to its access to both Spikes and Toxic Spikes, useful typing, and decent bulk. The combination of Rocky Helmet + Aftermath lets it chip down and force out a wide variety of physical threats like Centiskorch, Choice Scarf Sawk, Gurdurr, and Cinccino. Pain Split is Garbodor's best form of recovery and gives it more longevity. Rock Blast threatens common entry hazard removers such as Articuno and Coalossal as well as Centiskorch. Corrosive Gas is an alternative that lets Garbodor remove the opposing Pokemon's item, crippling switch-ins such as Piloswine, Rhydon, and Rotom. The given EV spread allows Garbodor to outspeed Jolly Rhydon and maximize its physical bulk.

Garbodor fits on every offensive team, as it benefits most attackers by chipping opposing Pokemon via Spikes and Rocky Helmet damage. Wallbreakers like Silvally-Ground, Thievul, and Kangaskhan appreciate Garbodor setting Spikes to wear down bulkier Pokemon and switching into Fighting-types like Sawk and Gurdurr, which threaten them. Other Pokemon that appreciate Garbodor handling Fighting-types like Shiftry and Cinccino are also good partners. Pokemon that can switch into Ground-types like Tangela and Uxie synergizes well with Garbodor; in return, Garbodor can absorb Knock Off from Pokemon like Shiftry and Centiskorch. Pokemon that appreciate Garbodor removing Toxic Spikes such as Silvally-Ground and Silvally-Ghost make for good partners; in return, Silvally-Ground handles Rock- and Steel-types, while Silvally-Ghost threatens Pokemon like Uxie. Setup sweepers like Frosmoth, Silvally-Ground, and Rapidash appreciate entry hazards that Garbodor provides to secure KOs after boosting. Knock Off users like Uxie, Gurdurr, and Alolan Persian can remove Heavy-Duty Boots from foes, making them vulnerable to Garbodor's Spikes.

Other Options
=============

Black Sludge can be used for more longevity, but it limits Garbodor's ability to weaken physical attackers to only Aftermath. Stomping Tantrum hits Steel-, Rock-, and Poison-types such as Klinklang, Kabutops, and Skuntank. Haze is an option to stop setup sweepers like Silvally-Ghost. Toxic cripples Defoggers that are likely to switch in, like Rotom-S and Cramorant, but they do not appreciate switching into Gunk Shot anyway.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Rhydon, Stunfisk, Piloswine, and Silvally-Ground threaten Garbodor with their Ground-type attacks. However, in Silvally-Ground's case, it will get weakened by Aftermath and Rocky Helmet.

**Special Wallbreakers**: Pokemon such as Thievul, Rotom, and specially offensive Basculin can heavily damage Garbodor, hindering its ability to handle physical attackers.

**Uxie**: Uxie can switch in on both entry hazards set by Garbodor thanks to Levitate, handle Gunk Shot, and threaten to 2HKO it with Psychic.

**Taunt Users**: Pokemon like Alolan Persian, Qwilfish, Skuntank, and Golbat outpace Garbodor and cripple it with Taunt, shutting down its ability to set up Spikes and forcing it out.
